Reading back, he had to sell it due to economical problems.

Regarding the LG L245/L246 monitors though, they have a design/material defect that makes them fail after a while, it is however a $10 fix, you need to swap two 10V/3300µF capacitors on the PSU board.

im thinking about getting a galant but which legs are more stable A legs vs T legs? ive been reading about people having problems with T-Legs as they wobble easy.
 
The legs themselves don't wobble ... I'd say there's probably no difference, for an L-shaped desk and, in fact, T-legs give a bit more freedom especially if you like staying in a swivel chair on coasters. However, if your desk is rectangular in shape, then b/c the T-legs are attached at only two spots (however large these spots may be) the table top pivots a little around the axis passing through the attachment spots if a significant weight is applied to the (long) edge of the table ... hope this description makes some sense

the desk im looking at is rectangle shape. so should i get A legs? do they have the same problem?
 
The A-legs attach at 4 points (not quite in corners, but that eliminates the "rotation axis") ... It sounds like you're getting the desk from the store -- you should just try it there -- they usually have a few assembled.

Either of the leg sets will wobble a bit, it's just more pronounced on the T legs. It is also not anything to worry about imo, I've had zero problems with my L corner with T-legs.
 
Question for those with the Markus chair.

Does yours rock a little? Mine does, it's not annoying me at all, i hardly notice it really. Just wondered if it's going get worse, break or send me flying one day.

yea i had to sell it unfortunately. i never had that problem where it failed and needed new caps. it was a great monitor.

guess what though, i just ordered the last three refurb NEC 20WMGX2's that NEC had in stock for 139 each. $500 total with tax and shipping. I used to have one L246WP and two 20WMGX2s, sold the NEC's also. Now I'm getting them back! I got two silver and one black models coming. Im going to sell one and keep two. I might even sell some stuff i have around the house to try and keep all three! Eyefinity with 20WMGX2's = win!

Just finished the rest of the wiring and fixing the mount, its really dusty now so I'll have to clean it :(

Also I'm still looking for something about the EXACT same size as the box for a Canon camera that is a little more elegant, lol

So i'm pretty sure my desk is Ikea. I got it years ago and I REALLY want to "upgrade" my desk to some of the Galant selection. I've been planning, measuring and looking around the desk options for a good few weeks now.
I have an odd-shaped room so it makes it harder.

Well, like I said my room is an akward shape, and I was thinking of getting this desk to replace what I have at the moment:

Only problem is on the left side it will go over a radiator, so I was wondering if that would be a problem?
But my main question is are the desks extendable, like if I went out to add some more lengh onto ethier end of the desk, or simply round one off, is it easy enough to just go out and buy the top & legs and off you go? Or would you simply advise to just get the desk that would work best and stick with it rather than gradually upgrading?

Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm still debating on if to get the desk or not. I love everything about it, but i'm just worried about the radiator and how bit it'll be in my room. I'm going for looks as well as practability here too y'see, and for almost £200 for the "first bit" of the desk, it ain't cheap. As i'm sure you know haha.

Seems like 9/10 people have a corner-desk of some sort too. I must admit i've been using one for years but I want to start duel-screening soon, so I have to figure out how that'll work too.

Guess it's time to measure-up my room... for the 43rd time.
 
You might want to use the T-legs (like matrix563) instead of the A-legs in the one you put a picture of, at least where the radiator is. The underframe of the desk will not conflict with the radiator ... and judging from you current desk the new one won't be too high for you.

Have you thought of using the extension on the right side (where the mirror is in your room)?

Yeah, T legs look like they may be the better option - for space and stuff.

And I would love too, but I actually look that picture in the hallway, so it would block the door. My room is weird - let me try to paint you an image.

To the left of the desk, my roof starts to slope down until it gets to under 3ft. On the left wall I have a almost little snippit in the wall that the wardrobe usually fits in but my bed is there.

Basically, my room is thin and long, has 12 walls and the ceiling slopes down hella-lot.
 
Ha-ha, you chose to only show the "normal' part of the room in your pictures.
T-legs are more expensive (+$5/ea), but my concern with the A-leg is that it might bump into the radiator not letting the table be flush with the wall/window.
Last thought for the moment (just to throw it out there, likely you're aware) -- you can buy either left or right L table .. so this might work if you want the desk extend under he mirror (but not into the doorway):

While I understand this is kind of creepy - this is basically my room, and what i'm "working with."
Obviously images can only help so far, measurements make all the difference, but bare in mind this isn't an office, it's basically my first apartment haha.

I was thinking of getting the desk I previously showed with 'L' legs, and then eventually extneding out where the other desk is, and wall mounting my TV up there. But i'm torn between extending the desk ot rounding it off and getting a bookcase-esque thing for my DvD's and books - still wall moutning the TV.
Also I kind of want a black desk but for some reason they don't do the one I want in black.
 
I don't think Galant is available in black. It's available in dark (coffee like) brown. I'd go with a birch colored one though -- scratches (and dust) are a lot less visible on it + it helps make the room lighter.

Yeah the coffe-like brown is what I wanted, but I think you're right. I just love the whole black&white minimalist thing, but all my desks have been a type of oak or oak-colour and they always seem to do fine.

That's correct. Ikea calls it "dark brown", but it does look pretty much black unless you have light shining on it..

Birch is the best imo, as if you have scratches you cannot see them unless looking directly at them.
 
I'm still unsure as to what I want to get but I really want to get the Black-Brown desk. It would just look better to me, i'm kind of tired of wooden-looking furniture.

I have a large FREDRIK desk with the 2 shelves. I place one of the shelves on the bottom which hides my printer and game controller. Got the idea for making an additional shelf with EKBY JÄRPEN and CAPITA legs from this forum thread actually. I have DIODER Light strips on the back of my 2 24" displays. Added a SUMMERA pull-out keyboard shelf along with the SIGNUM cable management tray. :D
