Ikea desk gallery

If those are the grundtal halogen lights from ikea BE CAREFUL those things melted the top of my friends monitor. i have the LACK spotlights which i believe are the same price and they use LED's so they have better energy effiency and less heat. If you are like me then heat is key because of the monster of a PC i have running in my room.

Slight update. Added my old wheel (to play F1) to the corner of my Gallant so that I still have normal access to my mouse and keyboard. Never had enough space on my old desk to have good access to both.

Just picked up a Galant desk from Ikea. So far all I've been using is my laptop so the desk is huge right now at 63" lol. Future plan is a desk mount with 24" monitor :) Pics will be posted soon! :D

here ya go.. finally got my center arm. Now I can enjoy movies and some triple monitor action in the bedroom.

How much do you wanna sell those shelves for?????? :D

you could either sell them for $50 a piece or watch people fight eachother with sticks for them. I think the later would be your best bet. ;)

sell them to this guy QUICK! I have been lucky i have 3 shelves i have found. Ebay has them from time to time and so does craigslist

I'm looking for a table lamp. I have this setup minus the lamp, (obviously) filing cabinet, Lack shelf above the desk, and all the nick knacks.

Hehe, this does get asked alot but the legs are Capita and you can get them in 4", 6" and 8" lengths and the board is a Jarpen that can match your desk color.

I have actually used a much wider and thinner board, I think to a dresser actually, for my monitors before switching to arms.

I'm running this exact desk setup w/ the Jarpen + Capita legs. I'm wanting to change it up though and now I'm looking to basically downsize the Jarpen to two pieces 10" wide and about 11" deep to hold each speaker leaving a blank space in the middle of the desk. I'm assuming the Jarpen is cardboard in the middle so it's going to look like crap when I cut it. Does anybody know of something by Ikea that fits this size requirement and color as the desk provided? I can always go MDF but it won't look the same.

Actually, I cut up a Jarpen to serve as a filler for my arms when I used them and it was solid all the way through so had no problems there. I did have them under my Galant so no one saw them and looks didn't matter.

If you can get a saw to cut them smoothly and just keep the rough edges towards the middle, you should be fine. :)

I did something like that with the Capita legs but i bought 8" so i could elevate my TV off my super cheap entertainment stand. I used a piece of Aspen wood painted black (which matches my stand) The 8" is JUST enough to fit my cable box and my center channel speaker i LOVE IKEA!

I am so jealous of all these beautiful desks. The nearest ikea to me is a 7 hour drive, and I've not seen any desks or tables on craigslist in my area. Someday!!

You in the upper Midwest? Seems to be the biggest place for [H]ard forum people that say they have no Ikeas around them.

Sorry you don't have any around, I have four them within an hour of me, closest being like 15 minutes.

Central Arkansas. The closest one is in Texas.

Hawaii has none and they have no plans to come here either. The good thing is that since there are a lot of military familes that move here when they get stationed, they also bring their Ikea desks. When they move off the island they prefer to just get rid of all their stuff instead of having to ship it back. I've been able to pick up 2 Jerkers so far. Could have bought another one a few weeks ago but it wasn't the style I wanted.

I've only ever seen ikea lamps and other small items on the local craigslist. I don't think many ikea shoppers move to this area. ;)

I'm sure the benefits of living in Hawaii out weigh the lack of IKEA stores lol. I need to make my way back there some time. Had a blast the last time I was there.

I just want to find something locale as shippign is a fortune for stuff like that and i haven't seen much looking around

The Galant desk isn't worth what they ask for it anyways.

I agree, it's just a flat piece of particle board and some leg stands worth no more than 50$ to manufacture. Problem is noone else makes it like Ikea does, nor do they make it so easy to assemble and so full of customizable options. Until someone does, they can charge whatever they want.

Everything is in the eye of the beholder ... in other words, it may be true in your universe, but not true in someone's else.

WTF!!!! Speak human....

We all live on planet earth and in the same universe... It is a over priced piece of particle board.
Ikea can normally have good prices and normally always junk products made of particle board.(name one item that isn't, dare u)... this time they have both high price and junk.

My point... thank u N.J.

I thought what I wrote was pretty easy to understand ... sorry if it was not. I think, Mercedes S600 is overpriced. However, I do not make an absolute statement that it is (as, apparently, there are enough buyers for Daimler to justify the R&D/production/etc. costs and still make a hefty profit). So, had you qualified your statement with IMO/I believe/I think or some similar, your post would have been accurate. As it is, it's an offense to people in this thread who cared to post pictures of their setups (many include various configurations of a Galant desk) and to whom IKEA furniture is not universally junk or overpriced.
