Ikea desk gallery

Hey man, what monitors are those? Great setup by the way! Always like the one display in widescreen and one display in portrait setups.

Dell 2209wa. The portrait one got stepped on lightly during the move and shows a red looking "smudge" right in the middle. Only noticable if there is black behind it and I'm looking so I really don't care.

Just downsized to a smaller room. Figured I would take a picture so I'll remember what it looked like cleaned;)

Are those stands on each side from Ikea? Those would be ideal to put my printer on to save some desk space. Can you buy different length legs for them? I think I've seen someone else using them too in this thread.

From lowes. At one time they had a build your own section in shelving. Last time I went in there they removed that section. You could choose different shelves (size, color, and even glass) and legs (Height, color).

I love the wallpaper what is it from? I am just finishing up my set-up and can not wait to throw up some pics

Nice, nice, nice. I just picked up a Jerker and have been just glued to this thread. It has taken me a while to really look at how people are using them but you brought up some good stuff. I don't have the upper shelf system like you but you straight up velcroed(?) the router to the support and I really like how you put the inconspicuous HP WHS on the shelf. I have one shelf but have no clue what to do with it. I was going to put the router there but the cables try and pull it off the shelf.

Or is that straight electrical tape?

Velcro Tape. Ever since I ran into the stuff organizing a SAN rack with a Dell rep I have been hooked. So easy to rewire and re-use.
I experimented with the router on the shelves and it received the best signal on that pole. I plan on getting some through bolts at lowes to see if I can mount it without the velcro, but only for looks.

Absolutely tremendous work on organizing your cables, lgestle.
Thanks.

here is a picture of my desk, I honestly don't remember the model since I bought it when I went to college a few years ago, but it is an ikea desk nonetheless. It is holding up well but I wish the metal bars for cable management were a bit wider to offer some more room.

i have a brand new Fredrik for sale
if anyone in the South Dakota - Iowa - Nebraska tri-state area is looking for one?

not long after i bought it my father passed away and so many things changed and i just dont need it now.
hopefully it can go to a good home!

Just moved into a new place and got some new furniture. I still have to do wire management and some lighting, but it's getting there.

What is this little loner sitting in the corner? Is that your NAS? or a hardware firewall?

Way in the corner is the Windows Home Server box, then on top of the cabinet is the Motorola modem for Road Runner and a D-Link DIR-655.

I also have DIR-655. Great router. I bought it because it supports sharing of the USB devices through the router. I plugged in my USB harddrive in there and often time my computer couldn't connect to the USB harddrive and I have to reboot the router in order to get it working again. Have you experience that before? or you don't even use that feature?

I honestly don't use that feature, but I've had zero problems with my D-Link hardware. Your issues sound like permissions or configuration to me. I have a friend that works for Cisco and he picks on me for not buying Linksys stuff, but I've been very pleased with all of my D-Link stuff. I have several of the gigabit green switches, a DIR-655 here and at my parent's place, and the DAP-1522 bridges and I've been very pleased.

Can I join in as well. I guess I'm now part of the Ikea community :p I assembled my new Galant today. It has the 'A' legs. Absolutely love it, it's beautiful. Especially compared to my old, small slide out drawer typical pc desk. This has so much space for me. 120cm x 80cm, and what's great is the adjustable leg height from 60 to 90cm, which is why I didn't go for the Jonas in the end but I very nearly did. My CM690 case is out of shot, sitting atop a small ikea metal filing cabinet.

I like your keyboard.

I really need to clean the place up and snag a pic. Hard to figure how where to best put things and show off the 800D interior. I should have bought the reverse L style and put it against the right hand wall in hindsight :(.

You aren't the only one that needs to send in a pic. Next week I'm planning on heading up to IKEA and picking up one or two of those new shelves for the Galant desk :D.

anyone have the picture where the speakers were mounted to the side of the fredrick desk? i want to put mine on the side and a little bit lower so its near my listening area and not too high.

Where did you get the shelves that attach to the desk? I would like to get the desk but only if I could order every thing together.

I'm cross posting from the 2010 thread, but only one image. Its a wrap around Galant with wire management trays underneath.
