Alright this might get long.....sorry.
I had an old computer that was all over the place. It would reboot, BSOD, and refuse to open programs sometimes because the memory was too low. I got sick of trying to find the problems so i built a new one.
This is my setup
C2D 6420 (Cooled with AS5, thermalright SI120, Silverstone 9 blade fan)
Evga 608i
2G GSkill RAM
Corsair 620W
Thermaltake Mozart Tx case
8 various sized HDD's. Boot drive is a 750G from Seagate SATA.
Creative X-fi card
Asus 8600GT (no games ever)
EVRYTHING AT STOCK!!
Alright, so now these problems are comming up again. So its either a peice of software i am using that has a leak or something very very odd.
I have tested the ram, the obvious choice for such problems, in memtest for 2days with no failures. My PSU is super solid from BIOS and windows. And i have tested everything i know how to. I have run super Pi (one on each core), i have run every program i know to overload a system and they always pass and my computer runs solid.
But i surf the web for a couple hours a day for 2 days and then Photoshop wont open. It will start to load, and 3sec into it, it will just close. When it does this, i hit ctrl, alt, del and it will only say i am using 35-40% of my total available memory. This isn't just big programs. Sometimes i can't load winamp, sometimes i can't even load crazy small programs like UltraMon.
So if i can load the programs because i dont have enough memory available and it says i have MORE then enough. WHATS THE FUCKING DEAL?!?!
How can i check to see what's running and using system resources other then Ctrl, Alt, Del?? Is there something i can run to log settings when my computer crashes? I have tried using speedfan for this, but my PSU voltages, cpu speed and everything it monitors was perfect when the auto log it creates was stopped(rebooted)
I would love any help, but i have done all the tests i know, and everything tells me that i have a perfect machine, and it will OC like mad, but i can't get it to run stable at stock because of randomness......So pushing my OC will be till later.
