HTC Touch Pro

I've had the Sprint Touch Pro since October. It's my first PPC and I'm not disappointed at all.

The only major problem I've had with the phone is that the screen would turn on while in my pocket; it would constantly call out to random people because of that. The problem went away after I installed PocketShield. I had SU2U but it unlock itself randomly.

Besides that, I've had no problems. I love the searching the web with the Opera browser on the phone. :D

How do you get the internet pages to look smaller? Man the screen is smaller than my Mogul and when it loads up a page its like a few letters are almost as big as the screen. You can barely see anything at any given time.

Double tapping the screen will either zoom in to where you tapped or zoom out to display the entire page. You can also use the touch sensitive ring around the center button to adjust the zoom. The VGA screen is sharp enough so that you can read most pages even if they're zoomed out.

Is there anyway you can get internet off the phone with a laptop? Like is there a special cord or just the one that came with it. What would I need to do after that. Any kind of special settings on the laptop?

I have the Sprint Sero plan.

You can either tether it via bluetooth or usb. No special cables/software required.

You should see 'Internet Sharing' somewhere under your programs (or possibly settings). I'm not using an official ROM, so I have no idea where it could be for you. Look around for it.

Keep getting an Error code 67 Registration Failure. Looked online and they said to update the profile, so I did, but it hasn't done anything that I've noticed. If it did anything, it stopped that Error Code 67, but it still says "waiting for network." I'm gonna leave it alone tonight and try it again tomorrow. It's no biggie, but I was just wanting to see if I can use my phone as a modem pretty much.

Not all carriers want you tethering anymore without paying additional on a plan, I don't know what Sprint's policies are.

WMWifirouter is what I use. I gave up on trying connecting with BT because it sucks so I am using the wifi to connect to the pc instead.

I use an AT&T Fuze I bought outright with RC3 of the Raphael Elite Team's ROM...it's SO much faster then the bloated OS you get with AT&T..

I did the speaker trick and it turned up my volume. I can actually hear now, but it's not the quality I'd like. I'll still take this over not being able to hear anything like before though.

0It's not a big deal, but I hate how Myspace site looks on the phone. It's all so big and looks distorted. Every other page I been too is great thought. I just hate sometimes when I visit Hardforum.com it'll make the print super super small that I can't even read anything, so I have to restart Opera and go back to it. It usually does this when I turn the phone.

Still haven't got my phone to act as a modem. I need to call Sprint up about that.

Keep in mind you also have pocket IE on the phone. And H also has a mobile version of its forums for easier reading. I don't recall the URL though.

Thanks for that link. I'll store it in my phone!

Might I also add that he camera on this phone is pretty kick ass. It's 100x better than my old i880 and better than the Mogul's.

I'm thinking about getting this phone when my contract runs out in a couple weeks...how much battery time are you guys getting?

I'll tell you once i compare it againt my titan which has had fantastic battery life. Some times it can go 3 days without a recharge.

Depends on your usage, heavy usage is about a business day or less. Light use I can get about 3 days out of it. Very light usage I have seen 4 - 5 days out of it.

This is on the stock ATT rom, you can do better or worse depending on settings and so forth.

When my wifi is on... it drains faster than it can charge on the supplied battery! I had it charging, using my wifi, and still drained. So make sure to keep wifi off. I saw a 3000mAh battery on ebay but it was like $90

Can I buy the Sprint version of this phone and activate it on the Verizon network without issue?

CDMA phone on a CDMA network should work, you will lose some of the functionality unless you put a cooked rom on there. Your safest way to find out is talk to a verizon rep who might have done that or tried it.

I would say it will work since the frequencies are the same.

Thats crazy, how is your wifi set up on the phone? medium consumption or max performance or best battery? Were you charging from the wall or off the computer?

After I moved I had my phone tethered to my desktop and I was running it as my main internet source for 5 - 9 hours non stop, I kept having to disable the USB charging option since it kept getting full.

Not quite wifi but slamming data usage like that drained it very fast until I put it on the charge.

Well mine is not a definite yes, Verizon opened up their network to other phones, however they dont guarantee that they will work fully without going to them and even then some functionality will probably be lost.

The CMDA bands are the same so that aspet of the phone will most likely work, data over that network should work, probably wont be REV 0 depending on how they run it and how set the phone is with sprints setup.

I still say stopping by a kiosk, store, or calling them to see if they have tried it would be a safe bet. Cant hurt anything. Even more so since they offer a version of the phone...

You can definitely run a sprint phone on the verizon network.... just not using the stock ROMs.

Their version of the phone is crippled.

Their version of the phone is crippled.

Sigh, define crippled. Because it basically has a little less RAM, that's hardly crippled. Would it be better if it didn't? Sure. But everyone running around the Internets screaming "its crippled" really doesn't give anyone any accurate information. I can't stand lack of perspective, sorry it's a personal failing. :p

Don't forget the keyboard.

The Verizon version is missing 10 keys.

You probably mean 8 keys since some of the other models have more double wide keys like enter. Why would I need a separate caps and shift key? Why a function and a symbol key when one can do both? Some of the keys have been merged onto other keys allowing them to be larger making it attractive to lots of people. Very likely preferred by many. You could argue that tiny keys that are harder to press negate the benefit of a separate hardware keyboard. Once again, not crippled. I'd be more likely to say AT&T's is crippled since it doesn't have a seperate number row. :D But even then, it's just different and still functional in every way.

For kicks here are all three, Verizon, ATT, and Sprint. I took them all from the same review site but I don't know if they are perfectly to scale (I assume no). In my mind, ATT loses the keyboard battle with no number row, but once again that's just my preference. Not "crippled."

I'll take the extra keys. Did Verizon finally unlock the GPS on this thing too? You can't deny that Verizon cripples every phone that they release...it's just what they do. Btw, the reviews I've seen actually regard the AT&T layout as the best.
