been folding all month fine, now I got a 6063, then a 6023. Looks like a shortage

It happens from time to time. That could also explain the large number of 2684s I and others have been getting lately.

Sorry. I am slacking in keeping ya'll updated but there are known server problems at Stanford right now.. posted by Vijay a couple hours ago:

We have one physical server (vsp07) down and this one hosts many IPs (vsp07*, vsp17*, vsp22*). We've notified the sysadmins and they are working on it.

No problem, Tobit, it's good to have someone who has knowledge of internal events more than the average folder. Since Evil seems to be away this summer, we haven't had anyone else from what I've seen.

No, I just don't have a life outside of my apartment.

What happened to Evil? Is he just on vacation? I noticed he hasn't been around for a while, and he isn't really producing anything right now as his page has 0 clients online.

I have no idea..

I grabbed bigadvs 1d 7h and 3h ago on both i7 boxen, FWIW.
Like these guys said I don't think it's a shortage, just one of those things that happens from time to time.

Well, folding1 just finished a bigadv and managed to pick up another 2686. Either the server issue is fixed or I got lucky.

I picked up a 2684 and a 2686 this morning, so they are out there.

hmm

I dont want to thread jack, but I just got my desktop back up and running and I just put FAH on my laptop. My laptop, in sig, has a mobillity radeon which the GPU2 client doesnt wanna touch. I've forcegpu'd it to ati_r700, (even though it is a madison and thus R800) and it launches into the "test protein A" according to the f@h viewer, hanging on "core download error #i" where i seems to be incrementing after some wait period --it looks like its trying to connect to f@h HQ, and failing. Is this because of the servers or because there's something wrong with this config?

You need to remove the ATI***.DLL files in the folding binaries directory and use the -forcegpu ati_r700 switch, that should fix it.

The ATICAL dlls are old and don't support newer Radeons.

As for the BigAdv shortage, my i7 980x got a P6701 last night for a mind blowing 20,500 PPD vs. the minimum of 35,000 PPD I get on P2684s. These units are so lousy they even bring the Opteron duallie down to like 27K PPD. PITA.

I should count myself lucky it finished earlier this morning and got a P2684 back

It's definitely been up and down the past day and a half though, but I was getting a lot more P2685/2686/2692s previously up until that point.

Thanks for the info Tobit.

I was just looking at folding2's logfile and noticed that after finishing a 2692 last night, it drew a 6015 and a 6057 before finally drawing another 2685. I guess they must really be running low on bigadv again.

6068 on my SR-2 - 1:34 frame times...it'll be finished soon...:)

...and a 2684...I swear I am going to start deleting these stupid things...

Working on my second 2684 in a row...grumble...grumble. Watching stats plummet...grumble.

After my P2685 finished this morning, I got a P6063 and now a P6025. Hopefully I'll pull a bigadv soon.

I'm seeing similar results.

I had a p2685 that died a few times 3% and under..... I'm thinking it was a bad one that was the bottom of the barrel. My OC has been stable for a few WU now.

I've got a 6074 in Nexus now.... 1:28 TPF.... lol

Now I'm working on a P6014. Hopefully they can whip up a new batch of bigadv soon.

My TPF is 01:08, but I'm down to 78K PPD from 120K, so it's hurting.

You guys keep this crazy SR-2 talk going, and I'm gonna add another Xeon x5650 to the one I just got last week, and get one....

I'm telling ya :D

Nice times though. Nearly half of my Opteron box, which is in the 1:55 range. Core I7 980x at 4.0Ghz is just over 2:00 TPF.

But yea, same here. No Bigadv units coming since yesterday. PPD is down a fair bit. Minus 25K on the Opty and minus 30K on the Core I7 980x.

Finished a 2686, grabbed a 6020....servers are still on the fritz too it seems because the upload of the 2686 still hasn't happened. :( Not all is kosher in folding land today.

Third standard A3 WU in a row on my Skulltrail since last night...

Well darn.........

After folding1 finished its 2686 earlier today, it has gotten one of those dreaded 6040's :(

One of my machines that finished a P2684 today picked up another P2684 immediately. The other one is running its second regular A3. With the holiday weekend coming up, I get the feeling we are going to run them out of bigadv completely... :)

probably has something to do with evga ramping up?

I had to wait for three consecutive standard SMP WUs on one machine before finally receiving a -bigadv unit. That took almost a day.

Beginning of the month. eVGA Bucks starts anew at the beginning of every month so they always have a spike at the beginning of the month and then "fall off" when their folks get their requisite points to get their bucks and then stop.

I got one normal A3 unit after a 2692.. then I immediately pulled a 2684... I hate those units with a passion, they halve my PPD :(

On my third regular A3, and a 6702 no less, waiting for another bigadv...

Finished a 2686 this morning and got a 2685. Pande must like me?
