BTW, running +215 on the core now. Haven't touched voltage, only increased the power limit.
AIO with a stock card is still a better option, like the EVGA 1080 Hybrid. You don't need a custom loop.
The 1080 STRIX didn't have great QC just like the one before it. Having just experienced ASUS RMA first hand, I'll keep away like the plague.
Anybody doing a displayport daisy chain with the 1080 Ti? Can't get Win10 to see the last 2 Dell U2415s in my 3 monitor setup. Worked fine with the 1080. Cables are certified and short.
That's not what you said though. You didn't say water is a better option. You said anything that isn't water is only for aesthetics which is clearly a false statement.
I see all he EVGA cards still have a DVI port except for the Founders edition which is probably because the air vent on the founders edition in the back would be bigger.
This is what I've been saying:
It remains consistent. AIO or a custom loop is water. Both use a rad, pump, water block and tubing to cooling the GPU.
Stock or water. I stand buy it. Custom fans solutions are aesthetics.
That one has two fans.....oh but this one has three fans, more phases, RGB etc.. None of which will result in higher performance/fps on pascal.
Would it be worth starting a thread where 1080Ti FE owners post their fan curves along with their highest maintainable boost clock (for both stock settings and OC)?
I can stand by an incorrect statement too, it just makes me wrong. 6db difference between reference and strix. You can preach about standing by your comment in every post for the rest of your life. It was false the first time you said it, it'll remain false each subsequent time you stand by it.
Got my two from nVidia today:
Two 1080s next to 1080 Tis:

Initial benches of RoTR at 4k in SLI seem to be in line with other reviews. Noise levels don't seem any different at stock that the 1080s. But I can easily feel the extra heat when standing behind the exhaust.
Sweet. Mine should be here later too. Can't wait.
Have you done any OC yet?
Congrats! And not yet, was plaining on looking at that tonight.
Mine are here...just installed them. Running Time Spy now. Will post back in a bit.
These are my Time Spy results: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/1389403
Got mine yesterday, but it took until this morning to fully resolve issues with the driver issues.
My god this is an insane improvement over my 980. when I was doing the purchasing I was pretty sure my ivy bridge at 4896Mhz wouldn't hold it back. Now I'm not so sure, especially since the 1080 ti doesn't seem to like the 102blck
I just scored 12,853 in Time Spy, does your 6950X and 64GB of memory account for the extra 2,000 points you get over my 4770k and 16GB?
Just closed f.lux and running again, will post links in a minute.
I'm coming from 780Ti-SLI. Time Spy was a slide show with those...the jump with 1080Ti-SLI is insane!!!
Ok, closing f.lux made little / no difference. My score is here:

Anyone have a recommended overclocking tool / fan profile tool for a Nvidia FE card? I was using Asus GPU tweak (shamefully I was only using it because it came with my Asus 980, never did any research) but am open to using the best available tool.
I think most people use MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision OCX. I think either should work with FE cards but I'm not 100% sure about that.
Afterburner does. I'm using it on my NVIDIA reference cards. I don't know about EVGA Precision OCX. I thought that one did a check to see if the cards were actually EVGA cards so I didn't try it.
Anyone tried Ghost Recon Wildlands? On the Ultra preset at 4k I can barely squeeze 40fps...
I have. I get between 45 and 60FPS. It does sometimes dip into the high 30's. It's fucking demanding. SLi doesn't scale well but it does help.
i saw a yt vid from some random, they had sli and a 7700(not oc'd) and was getting 50-90fps @4k. so your performance seems aboot right.
I wonder why I'm not getting that level of performance?
I'm getting right at 50 FPS average in the canned benchmark with spikes into the 90s. I've not done in game benchmarking but seems to run pretty smooth at 4k ultra present.
I get 58.8FPS average in the canned benchmark. I'll have to check when I get home, but there may have been some things not set by the ultra-preset that I changed in the settings.
Hmm, we'll I seem to off in this game as well. Didn't really do a lot of testing just spot checked games with canned benchmarks. Actually played a good bit of Forza Horizon 3. The 1080 Ti definitely is smoothing things out, almost able to keep a constant 60 FPS with brief dips in to the upper 50s. OCing should help out.
So far very impressed with these cards. And it actually is a pretty significant upgrade even over the 1080, at least at 4k.
I averaged 56.something on the Ultra-preset but with AA off and Shadows set to Very High.
What monitor are you running? I have 2 coming for my 1440p 144hz setup. I may consider a 4k 144hz monitor when available. I figured 1 is less than my 980ti's at 1500mhz and so I'd need 2 for an upgrade.
Time Spy likes cores so yeah, the difference there is in the CPU.
We need a dedicated thread for 3dmark for 1080TI. Firestrike regular, the one in the middle can't remember the name, firestrile ultra and timespy.
There is one.
I'm using a TV - Samsung UE43KS7500.
GTX1080Ti from Inno3D ( https://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2017/03/17/inno3d-geforce-gtx-1080-ti/1 ) seems to get better results than ASUS's StriX version.
EDIT: Hmm, no, not really. Now that i check them more carefully the performance seems about the same.
I got my Gigabyte FE 1080 Ti yesterday and went ahead and bumped the power and temp limits to max with MSI afterburner. I played GTA V for about an hour and saw clocks up to 1860 on the core but it mostly settled at about 1830. According to the temp monitoring it never broke 70 C.. I have a linear fan speed profile set up so 20C = 20% fan, 40C = 40%, etc on up.
I get my second card today and my second EVGA Hybrid AIO cooler Saturday. That means next week they both get water cooling!
caw2007 I am seeing exactly the same thing on my FEs. Power and temp whacked up to max and card seems to settle around 1830-60 for me too. I think it's hitting power limit, this image shows 20 minutes or there abouts of Fire Strike Ultra Combined Test on Loop:
Max temps 79 and 74.
mgulbran Thank you for posting those tips, I will run a test on my machine and report back shortly.
EDIT: Ok I just tried this @4k using the Ultra preset.
Turf On - 33.66fps
Turf Off - 37.89fps
Not exactly what I hoped for! I'll try some other settings and report back.
EDIT II: Ok, Borderless kills performance. Run Fullscreen.
Turf Off - 54.88
Tur Off / No AA - 67.12
Tur Off / No AA / Shadows High - 71.44
What kind of insane feats do you think I could perform with this card at 1080p in GTA V and Skyrim in terms of mods. Right I am running dual GTX 980 but I don't have a lot of VRAM. I expect with this card's massive vram a lot of mods are possible.
This might be worth investigating.
Would a Haswell-E six core at like 3.6GHz hold this thing back?
Weird thing I'm seeing in 3DMark, my single 1080 Ti was recognized as valid with no problem yesterday. Today my SLI config, even though it clearly shows two Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in my system info, every result was invalid because the cards are seen as Generic somehow..lol
Also of note, in GPU-Z, my Gigabyte branded card shows NVIDIA under subvender, while my EVGA branded card shows as EVGA under subvender and has a different BIOS revision..
So I just started doing some overclocking:
Ran Heaven 4 and Time Spy, got about a 10% boost in those with these settings. But, wow, gets pretty loud, just about at the edge of being uncomfortably so and a lot of heat. But pretty insane performance. This making think about AIO cooling.
