Forza 3... Who's Getting It?

There's videos out there with no driving aids on. Sim damage isn't on because the game isn't finished yet (apparently they're still modelling it).

still modeling it and its going to be out in 2-3months time? they should be on the testing phase at this point

im thinking they took a not broken dont fix it approach and kept core elements as they were, since they worked so well in Forza2, the modeling is just eye candy...i dont see a reason to need uber amounts of testing to see if a model looks like it should or not, it looks to me like they have a good handle on that now ;)

All the tracks will likely have mirrored versions available. Par for the course in racing games for some reason.

I bet the designers love seeing that done to their perfectly thought out track. :D

its something they got stuck with in Forza 2 because the track owners werent willing to allow them to put the tracks into the game.. thus it took almost a year before the owners of Road America allowed them to put it in Forza 2 even though it was already in Forza 1.. Forza 1 had the battle with the car companies.. Forza 2 had the battle with the Track owners.. so i wonder who they have to fight for Forza 3..

You be surprised mate. alot of things needs to be tested, Testing a product is long. they will simply have to test every car in this game to see if their are any bugs in this game. They also need to test it online and offline mode to see if in offline mode i can see the AI's damaged cars ok and if you can see if my car is damaged online etc etc etc.

If this game is really comming out on october then there is no time in adding new features especialy damage.

Are they using a brand new engine or just polishing up forza 2 engine?

all i know is i am sure it will be bigger, better, and more polished

The short development time didn't afford them the opportunity to refresh everything. Some of the tracks have been updated but others like the Nordschleife appear to reuse old data.
The landscaping is haphazardly placed, nobody will mistake that screenshot for the real thing. The track curves the right way, but they took liberty with the scenery.

Another thing some have noticed, compared to the real track, the carousel in forza 3 is much wider than it should be, and the grass berm is missing.

New graphics engine, same physics core with updates. According to T10, they've been working on this game for about 3 years... before FM2 came out. Also, they've been using resources from all over MS, not just MSGS employees, so they've probably had more time to polish than we think. The code everyone saw at E3 was a month old at that point, and that was 2 months ago. A lot can change when you're just polishing and testing at that point.

Hopefully GT5 will look a least as good as the Forza 3 shot above. Right now, the environments in GT5p are horrible, as are the track details. Even F2 beats out GT5p in that aspect.

Also, Turn 10 has stated that they made areas of the ring wider for the purpose of multiplayer.

i promise you nobody will care about or lose experience over misplaced trees or even a track that is not 100% accurate :D

people who will nitpick this game to that degree need to stop playing video games

Eiger Norwand looks fantastic. The mountain scenery, crowds that react, blades of grass alongside the track etc.

We haven't seen GT5's Ring, but I doubt it will be hard to improve on Forza 3's.

While Forza 3's 'ring will look excellent, I agree that GT5's version will not only be more accurate, but better looking and also more fun. More cars is better.

This semi-baseless claim appended with fact has been brought to you by the number 5.

Arguments like this make me appreciate the fact that I own both consoles and don't need to waste my time proving why I think one game is better than another.

They'll both be fantastic racing games, why argue about which is more authentic or 'better' before either is out?

Psychotext has been providing useful news updates so I check the thread once in a while. Snaggle I know you're a genuine hardcore GT fan so my rant wasn't directed at you. It was more towards those who argue for the sake of arguing... or those that argue out of pure console fanboyism.

Blame the Forza 3 developers. Nobody, including myself, doubt Forza 3 will be a great console racer. The question is if it will be the "definitive" racer.

IMO the reviews and consensus will go with Gran Turismo 5, by a mile.

Agreed.

I mean, it's pretty obvious which console I own. Hell, I even have my GTP_Tag in my signature. I play Gran Turismo semi-competitively, even though I'm completely sick of the 6 tracks available.

That's no reason for me to discount what Turn10 is bringing to the table though. This fall is going to be incredible for the racing genre. And in the mean time, Forza 2 is filling the void. I find myself over at my buddy's house a couple of times a week to spend his money on things he doesn't want. :D

It's just too bad there's no NEW PC offering to complete the AAA tri-fecta, aside from NFS: S.

The news regarding all three major sim-racing games is going to start pouring in soon, best get ready. Again, what a great fall this is going to be for sim-racing fans.

Can we stop talking about GT5 please? a game thats nowhere to be seen and quit frankly, the devs really taking the piss. GT5 was in developent BEFORE FORZA 2 CAME OUT FOR FUCKSAKES!!!

Now forza 3 is being released and still no GT5? LOL!! Please lets stop talking about a game that is not and probably wont be out until forza 4 comes out ok? this is a forza 3 thread not a forza 3 vs a game that doesnt exist thread

No PC offering? are you mad? their are tons that beat all console racing games hands down. rfactor, GTR 1,2 and evo plus iRacing. Sorry, but i prefer gameplay over graphics so dont bother mentioning how sexy these consoel racing sims may be

They're very much related and both titles are bound to come up in any FM3 and GT5 thread...as evidenced by both threads here on this forum.

No need to go where you just went.

edit to respond to above post by johnnymendoza: No NEW PC offering.

But then, we're off topic, again?

Here's hoping for more FM3 news.

Really, so whats this Rfactor 2 im hearing about?

Fuck, I dunno man! I guess I'd best get to readin! Links??

edit: after teh google... nope, just PD style 'rumours' lol. Certainly no Fall release to compete with the big 2(3). Just like I mentioned.

For good reason. Nothing against Forza, but GT is a lot bigger in scope.

Plus, as everyone knows, its native hw is a bit more challenging to program.

90% chance GT5 is coming this year.
Although I'm thinking it maybe as late as December. :(
I won't say another word about it, as long as no one else does. You can't play that game. Blah, blah, blah, now everyone quit talking about blah ! :)

These threads are usually slow anyways. You'd think Forza fans would appreciate any bumps they can get, to keep it on the front page.

Ha... and that was the reserved version of my post.

Oh well.

I quoted you and said "persuasive". It's sarcasm. In other words, when someone resorts to that language, they've truly failed. And nothing is worse than complaining they don't like someone's posts. Ignore ?

I don't know buddy... I'd say getting angry about something a dev says to promote their game is probably worse. Maybe posting negatively in a thread on a game (with no interest in that game) because it's getting positive attention. Possibly being an unpaid cheerleader for a multi-billion dollar corporation is worse too... who can say for sure?

But yes, I should probably apologise for being fed up of certain posters who ruin these boards for those us more interested in games than brands.

I'm deeply sorry.

I'm not your buddy, pal. :p

Disputing or openly criticizing the bragging of "definitive racer" at E3 does not equal anger. You lost your cool.

I think what you're doing goes somewhat beyond that, but hey, it's your time. If you want to spend it posting negative things about a game you'll never play, and never had any interest in playing... so be it.

I'd have thought if you had a confidence in your convictions you'd let the games speak for themselves rather than desperately downplaying one of them. But no, I'm sure people must be educated... for no-way can they be excited about a game that you're not interested in. Shame on them.

As for me losing my cool, yes, you're right, I did. You need not worry about that happening again, as it's been made clear I'm not allowed to post what I think of you, or other console warriors.

In case some of you guys didn't know this is a Forza Motorsports thread. Keep the GT5 talk in the GT5 thread, so this thread doesn't get out of hand and locked.

None of those PC sims give a fun and in depth single player and none have big car lists. Gameplay is more important than graphics... but that doesn't mean graphics aren't important ;) Things like shadows being cast across the track is something that I've been missing in GTR evo.
