Newegg has the TR 1950X at only $700 now, so I had to snatch one up because that is an insane price for 32 threads of Threadripper love. I also picked up an Asus ROG Strix X399-E Gaming MB, 32GB (4 x 8GB) of G.Skill Trident-Z DDR4-3200 (14-14-14-34), a Noctua NH-U14S to cool the TR (fun fact: although I have some that have been running 24x7 for almost 5 years, I have never had any Noctua fan fail or get noisy... imho, they are worth their cost), a Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum 850W PS, 2 more EVGA 1070ti's (one for this box and one for another of my boxes), a 256GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe drive, and finally a Corsair 750D Airflow case to stuff all this into. Running Windows 10 Pro, as I will be using this machine for other things on occasion. Hoping to run the TR at ~3.6GHz, or so. Looking forward to seeing what this new hardware adds to my daily output. I should know by this time next week.

This time next week?! A new sprint is being announced tomorrow, well the day after tomorrow when they fix the site. You didn't get rush overnight shipping? Dafuq mang?

Some of the items came from the "Newegg Marketplace," so weren't' available any faster than "3-5 business days." I was bummed, too.

Let me know how you like that board. I have the same one and I'm not a fan. Though it runs my 1950x stable at 4.0/1.35.

Getting ready for tomorrow. The TR B team.

Cosmology you say? Making an account now.... :)

Any of the 3 applications I should avoid or specifically select to run?

Actually it does not look like it. It gave me a single camb project that looks like it will take quite a while by itself.

I also got my new thread ripper in! Damn thing is sharp!

I kept getting VM errors in Boinc Tasks under the messages section. I just ignored them. Kept telling me I didn't have Virtual Box installed.

I managed to get 25 tasks per core. It took me about 45 minutes of constant updating to get them though.

So.. bunkering is not worth it unless you decide to load up a million VMs?

I'm pretty sure the server was being over run when I tried. I kept getting "project has no tasks to send".

Maybe it's better now, I don't know. I'm bunkered and network activity is off.

According to their server status page, they have 2 tasks ready to send lololol

GAH. Not again >.>

I'm just gonna turn it all on and let 'em start now.

Really not up for a repeat of Asteroids.

Well this morning mine has work. Processeses for all cores as well as pretty much another set waiting to run.

I've got ONE completed and validated unit so far. :ROFLMAO: My huge 407 point contribution is going to clinch it for us!

Ok - I do have 25 pending validation and 41 in progress too.

Not up for installing VB on my machines. I will crunch though, since my [H] brethren are.

Looks like XSUSA is off the block quickly again with the help of Bryan.

I may be insane, but I loved this 1950X sale so much, I just ordered a second, identical system. That should considerably add to my daily output. Look out Phoenicis! :D

I can't believe I am building my first AMD systems since the Athlon 64 X2 I built back in 2005. So glad AMD is truly competitive - and even better by some measures - with Intel again.

Yeah - since I'm not going to be able to run the other type of units I'm going to have to bail on this. The Cosmology admin stated that he cannot fix the legacy unit validation issues (even though I have a single validated legacy unit) and several dozen pending validation that will apparently not get validated. Sorry but I'm not going to waste energy for nothing at all on this.

They are out of WU to send. Just another terrible project when it comes to sprints.

meanwhile I got 7 WU validated from the 200 or what in the queue; the rest I'm dumping right now as the legacy WU anyway will not work from what I read ... :rage: try to install VB 5.2 now; will that help ?

It won't help until they generate some more WU for the VB work.
