Final Fantasy VII Remake

Your coming at the argument from a graphics perspective, I'm talking about from a gameplay perspective. Maybe it's not an issue anymore...I haven't played any console ports in a long time but last time I did, the game would say something like "Press X to open" and it's a graphical symbol of the X button on a controller...that's really annoying to me, lol. I don't want to have gameplay mechanics ported in a half assed way and have to compromise on that.

FF13 lets you choose if you want controller or keyboard tip UI so its not an issue tho you have to set it in the menu settings.

GTA5 on the other hand will change the UI on the fly the moment you press a button on your controller or keyboard.

so when you are driving in GTA with a controller it only shows controller UI button pop ups, but the moment you hit a button the keyboard for M&K gun combat it switches over to the keyboard UI pop ups..

Well that's pretty cool that devs have gotten their shit together with porting games...though I'll probably still buy a PS4 using the game as an excuse as to why I *NEED* it :D

Reunion theory isn't my theory. It's Hojo's theory shown to be true through the story, particularly when cloud and all the other clones show up at the north crater at the same time.

I meant a remaster in the vein of biohazard for Gamecube. Keep everything except the graphics identical.

The trailer is implying that they're going to change all of this shit.

The heck? No, REmake is not just a graphics upgrade, it is an actual REMAKE by the original director/creator of the series, Shinji Mikami. It is also why the game is a masterpiece, and why the new PC version is a piece of shit with ultra bright hallways (for "HD clarity" I imagine) and ergonomics changes that hamper the intended experience.

With most of FFVII's staff having parted ways with Square a long time ago, I'm looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X much more than this shit. True Xeno/FF fans should be as well, given its creator and team have helped create some of the best RPGs ever made. It's no coincidence that Xenoblade Chronicles was the best RPG since FFVII, at least to this gamer, and it's also why a Xenogears remake/boot wouldn't work without the same team. It could be done in a different way sure, but why not just call it a spinoff then?

I was referring to the theory that this is what the remake will center around, not the actual Reunion Theory.

They should add in an expansion pack completely separate from the game with the FF7 remake.

Bump will the remake and 15 make it to pc?

All SE is saying about platforms for the remake is PS4 first. In other words Sony bought timed exclusivity and SE isn't allowed to talk about future plans. I wouldn't be surprised to see 15 on the PC, but I wouldn't expect that until 2017 (assuming 15 launches Q4 2016).

That's fine my back log is insane. Just want to know it's coming for pc I own no consoles and do not ever plan ti buy one. I think it would be epic to have coOp in ff game over pc gaming to play through the story

I am looking forward to this so that FF7 will finally be ruined for fanboys once and for all.

FF series has been living off the glory of FF4 and FF6 for too long. My favorite thing about FF7 is it get's all the attention so they don't ruin FF6 lore by producing crappy content from it.

Half joking aside, a remake has the potential to easily fix the two big FF7 flaws.
1. Overuse of limit breaks. Should be more restricted, like to a few characters. Say only ones with Jenova cells.
2. More than 2 developed characters. My biggest gripe with FF7 is it had only two real characters, Cloud and Sephiroth. And it's a stretch to even count them as separate characters as they are so intertwined. Really the only story in FF7 is the Cloud/Sephiroth story and supposedly this is because they didn't have enough space on the discs. So a remake could actually be really really good but they will probably fail.
The Aeris scene would've been so much better if her character was developed further beyond: "Oh I just realized that I might be able to help people if I try to do something besides sell flowers and look pretty. Oh and you can kill my body but never my spirit." Other than that, you have the feline version of Clifford, a lousy pornstar, an angry big man, obligate wildling boomerang thief, the worst Cid in all of FF, a... vampire (ok this guy actually is not bad), a couple of abused youth gangsters that realize hey maybe we shouldn't end the world, and finally.... the robo-cat, who gets some of the few lines that are memorable outside of the Cloud/Sephiroth/Zack story.

Vincent being thrown in at the last second and becoming one of the most interesting characters I think proves my point that all the supporting characters in FF7 were lousy.

I have to disagree. The FF7 multiverse is the most developed and rich in the FF series in my opinion. This is in large part due to the numerous spin-offs of the series that grant a closer perspective of supporting characters (dirge of cerebus, crisis core, on the way to a smile, advent children, etc). The story is also pretty deep and convoluted. It took me about 3 playthroughs to really understand it (though I was quite a bit younger back then...)

I'll admit to not having indulged in most of the spin-off material. And I am of the opinion that the Cloud/Sephiroth story is really really good.

But I just don't see how anyone can argue for any of the other characters except Vincent (who you don't even have to find in the original game). Advent Children if anything makes this worse. The entire movie is focused on Sephiroth, and everything outside of Sephiroth was crap (exception Vincent again). FF7 relies on Sephiroth so much they even gave him 4 entire characters/roles in the movie. Cloud..... limit breaks him in the end and the day is saved.
I just feel like everybody and everything that isn't directly related to Jenova is a cliche. Even Cloud gets more and more boring the more he becomes himself, whatever that may be.

TLDR: My point is that FF6 would have been excellent even without Kefka. But FF7 depends exclusively on Sephiroth.

I like how hilariously broken Cloud is in Advent Children.

Turns out most of the party can literally jump a thousand feet into the air and have no problems hurling him upwards with such force that he's more or less breaking escape velocity before he finally collides with and nearly bisects a magical meta-dragon.

Finish with a graceful landing from a 2000 foot free-fall before riding his motorcycle on the ceiling of a tunnel and cutting some skyscrapers in half.

Its a little out there, but he is a Jenova/Human hybrid similar to Sephiroth. Jenova is a badass destroyer of worlds who hops from planet to planet on giant meteors.

That doesn't explain the rest of the characters being able to do it as well.

Its a fantasy video game.... Other things that don't make sense include the lifestream, a summonable meteor, monsters, guys with Gatling gun arms, super soldiers empowered by mako, mako, giant chickens you can ride, robotic knights that deal 9999 damage each, resurrection, magic points, health points, limit breaks, an alien being that can destroy worlds after being dormant for generations and then somehow travel to a new world...

Besides, its made clear in that scene that Cloud is the only one who can actually defeat Bahamut (albeit with their help). Yes, its a little unrealistic that they can more or less jump really high. But everything else in the game/series is pretty unrealistic. The point of fantasy is suspending your doubts and letting yourself believe in the impossible.

I like medieval-fantasy Final Fantasy games more, such as 6 and 9. Such a shame they don't make those anymore.

It isn't the suspension of disbelief that is a problem. It goes against what is already established for the characters abilities. Why couldn't they just leap over the blocked passages in the game?

Why not cast bahamut zero and destroy the obstacles? Tsunami and wash them away? Fire3 and burn them? Wind3 and fly over them?

None of it really makes sense. You have to suspend disbelief for it to work.

FF7 is the game that made me a gamer when I was a 10 year old.
