Favorite GPU you have owned?

I'd say my first REAL gaming graphics card, the ATi Radeon HD 3870.

It was my first PCI-E 16x or 2.0 card after finally leaving AGP behind. It was in my first PC build. And it was a damn beast. If only the drivers were better for it, i'd still have it................. maybe.

7800GTX SLi Setup. I was the only person I know who could run BF2 maxed out at the time :)

My Sierra Screaming 3D, old Rendition card. I LOVED it. It was a little slower than the 3Dfx Voodoo but the image quality was MUCH better. Seriously, I saw them side by side and the Voodoo looked horrid compared to it.

After that was the Canopus Pure 3D cards that I owned. Best cards you could get, I cried a little when they stopped making them.

Gonna have to join the party: 6800 Ultra for sure. Favourite because they were damned rare on eBay UK where I got mine. :D

i think my voodoo 3 3000 is what opened my eyes to PC gaming, up till then it was 4/8mb agp cards thet were meh... and my banchee wasnt all that... and it was so damn hot... lost count how many times i touched that heatsink with the back of my hand by accident.

lets see
I have owned a lot of cards
but my favorites are

voodoo banshee
intel747?

and ati
9800
xt800xt
xt1900xtaiw
amazing cards
love them all

My all time favorite (and first dedicated gaming GPU): Creative 3D blaster 3dfx Voodoo 2, 1998
My current favorite: Ati Radeon HD5870, 2009
Voodoo 2 8MB EDO (4 million transistors, 90 Mpixels/s, 3 Mtris/s)
HD5870 1GB GDDR5 (2.1 billion transistors, 11.2 Gpixels/s, ~850Mtris/s)
What a difference those 10 years make..lol.

My favorite has to go with the MSI N260GTX Twin Frozr I have now. I'm a fan of MSI's twin frozr design and LOVE that red PCB and size of the card. Recently added a N465GTX Twin Frozr II Golden Edition and love it too.

Radeon 9800 Pro.

Moving to that from an FX 5200 resulted in a night and day difference...every game I had ran perfectly at max settings.

My 8800GT was my first graphics card and was a trooper but my #1 favorite is my current card, an Evga brand GTX 275. Still knocks the stuffing out of most of my games at 1920x1080 ^^.

I can never remember if the Pro or the GTX+ version of the "9800" was the better card.

I miss the ol' days of Voodoo and TNT naming schemes... Five years later 3dfx was never bound to release a card named "TNT" nor was Nvidia about to release a "voodoo" card...

Radeon 9800 Pro is from ATi... back in 2003/2004.

9800GTX is from nVidia... from 2008, iirc.

Given my second sentence, I can't believe anyone actually responded to that...

Radeon and evga give away the chipset manuf, FWIW...

I have a soft spot for the 6600 GT, a quick look at my gpu history will show you why.

ATI Rage Pro 8mb, Nvidia RivaTNT2 32mb, Geforce 2 MX 32mb, Geforce FX5200 128mb :'(
Geforce 6600GT 128mb AGP, Geforce 6600GT 128mg PCI-E, Geforce 7800GT, Geforce 7800GT SLI, Geforce 8800 GTS 640mb, Geforce GTX 260.

The painful part is that I had tbe TNT2 for quite some time, when I get the Geforce 2 the GF4 was on the market already :s. Then I made the mistake of gettng the 5200 to tide me over. When I eventually got the 6600GT it was a revelation.

My favorite card was the x800xt. I upgraded from a FX5900XT. Nvidia FX5*** series had to be the worst video cards ever.
