Farm Pics ... Post yours

Haha! my sons train is pulling about half a watt from rechargable batteries.

Whereas the i7 920 and 2 GTX580's are pulling about 780w. Not good PPD/Watt.
that's ok. They're good for heating the room.

No, no... it's extremely tidy compared to a lot of us with naked hardware and spare parts sitting on shelves with wires going in all directions lol

Cardboard is a viable surface to "mount" a mobo to.

And when you bundle up all the cables it makes them hard to get to when you are swapping hardware.

;) :p

My dream would be to have a 10 foot long work bench just for naked folding. It would be so much easier to swap hardware around. I don't have enough space now for more than one system without a case at a time.

Not that tidy, but under construction. I have bought a 4P G34 to cram into my heavily modded Lian Li case, which currently houses a 4way evga board.

My bathroom has the same colors and tile as that room. I was thinking "why is he folding in his bathroom?"

Wow! That is almost as much as my 8P socket F is pulling right now!

So after much research and many questions asked and answered, I settled on a SuperMicro H8QGL-iF+ due to price and availability in the EU. I currently have 2x6176SE installed, mostly because it was the first CPU I got a decent price on, just waiting for the bank balance to improve before adding more. ;) Those are Ripjaws X and Noctua 120s.

I mounted the MB to an APC 19" rack shelf using 12mm nylon standoffs. Drilling the holes was harder work than I expected, due to the thickness of the shelf. Once I have fully populated the CPUs, this will go into my rack of muchness in our hosting center. I'll post photos of that later.

Older pic of my garage, Three SR-2's. Two 5645's and one 5639. Mostly all sold off now.

Sweet! What team? Don't say you sold off all your stuff for bitcoin parts :)

I fold for HWC, current points leader. I don't do bitcoin stuff, never interested me.. I fold for the science, but it's become too much of a hassle to keep up with things lately. I'll re-do my folding farm later this year perhaps, if the SR3/X works well or get a few quad amd boxen.
Power is quite the issue right now also - far too expensive.. i've ran these boxes for 10 months and my wallet is hurt because of it.

Building a system around g34 HE chips has shown to produce great ppd and very low power draw compared to what SR-2 systems do.

Raven in the front Harbringer in the back.

congrats on fitting 3 monitors on that small ass desk....

No kidding!

Hey Rison, I've been drooling over your FS thread on HWC.
I'm trying to find myself a cheap 2500k and Z68 preferably so I've been F5in the hell out of that and RFD.

Chaandan, that's a nice crop of Noctua on your farm. Where did you get the seeds?

Here we go ...

Ill start with the 2600k rig that hasnt been cleaned out in probably 2 or 3 months ....

Lets get to the fun shit:

1090T box, folds intermittently...specs in rig, that fan controller you see powers 4 of the fans on the RX360 (other 2 are not plugged in yet), the fan on-top of the 2 GPUs, and the 2 fans on the SR2. yes the wiring sucks, then again i have all the cords on the X750 there plugged in and mainly in use ....i gave up on trying to arrange the cables nicely on this setup

And now the SR-2.....2x L5639 @ 3.3 Ghz, 24 GB of G.Skill RipJawX 1600, 1TB WD Black, 2x True Spirits with an AP-15 each. And ofc an 8400 GS:

And then why not add the work area for funsies ?

only from the best .... though i do need to find new places for them (new desk will probably incorporate em in it), mainly to get desk space back ... my printer is in another room because i quite honestly do not have a place for it.

Frankenbox I built with some free RAM from DEFEX and a cheap extra spicey E5506(oc'd to 2.7 and running at .95 volts so fairly low power, uses about a 140 watts at the wall). Its good for about 9.5k ppd in Ubuntu 10.10. Never thought I'd be building anything without a case but it was actually quite liberating!

I got another E5620 for my cheapo Asus naked build. I should get some more RAM though...only 1 1GB stick is sad. I got that one for free too...

That setup looks really clean. Nice work

Thanks. There is really no place for cable management but I think it cleaned up pretty well. I looked at the Helmer render farm thing but it seemed like a cooker for 125w TDP processors. With the CM 212+ and a 140mm fan venting out the back I'm folding at 40c.

Where did you get that shelf for your folding setup MikeOnBike?

It's the bottom half of an Ikea PS cabinet. I left the door off. I might put it on after I carve it up and make it mostly mesh. Wish I had the money to populate the upper half too. I figure for $50, since I only used half of it, is not to bad for case cost.

I was somewhat inspired by the numerous Helmer Render farms.

I just couldn't see my farm staying cool enough with the tiny Helmer case in the summer when the man cave hits 80F .

I had to chop it up a bit to get the fans and PS mounted.

That picture just makes me want to buy one of those units and get some more rigs.

Wow, for some reason I came into this thread expecting pictures of fields, corn, and cows.

I completed my 4P build (6176SE), it is mounted to an APC 19" rack shelf.
