Fallout: New Vegas

Major faults that need to be fixed for New Vegas.

1. Slow running, speed that shit up a bit or make it part of an attribute.

2. Short main story, takes like 15 hours to pass and 120 hours to do all the side crap. maybe make the main story take 30 hours this time.

Minor stuff

1. maybe have a story based level cap. So start with lvl 20 cap until half way through them game then bump it to 30 until 80% then remove all caps for the last 20% of the game.

2. More dynamic main story where choices actually effect the game and result in different endings.

3. Better scenery, yes I know its a waste land but they could find a way to make it unique.

Big fan of FO3 I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. Fix the above and They are shooting for a 10.

The problem with this I believe is that its more of a design limitation due to the genre. Almost all really open world type games are basically mainly filled with relatively generic landscapes/areas aside from landmark locations. You'd simply have to have a much larger budget/art team then what is currently practical to have artists/level designers uniquely design every area of an open world type game.

There may also be a technical limitation with how varied scenery can be due to the need to cross platform with consoles which have more memory/space restrictions.

yeah I understand that, but even given those limitations I feel they could have done a better job....Point Lookout is a good example of a better job not perfect but better. My main concern with this is that Vegas is already a desert waste land with lame scenery so making that looks nice is going to be very hard.

I don't get that one. If you want a short game you can ignore most of the side quests. If you want a long game then you can make the game take almost forever. Why would you not want the choice? You'd really rather they make more of the side quests mandatory just to drag out the minimum time required to complete the main mission?

Well I hear what he's saying -- the main story is usually the most well-crafted of all, and usually the one that draws you in the most. It would be nice to have a longer, more involving main campaign. This is nothing against the side quests, I enjoyed a number of them, but it would be great to trade some of the more mundane 'fedex' quests for more main story.

Sure looks like better scenery, lots of cactus and joshua tree's and with blue sky's. I heard that one of the developers actually went to the Mojave Desert and photographed a bunch of the enviroment and translated it into the game to give it a more realistic look.Only bad thing is , it looks like the yellow tint is back (engines fault), a simple mod should fix that, probably use the same on from Fallout 3 .

Only problem with making you run faster is having the world seem a lot smaller. J.E. Sawyer has stated that there will be no fast travel in New Vegas.

I wasn't saying put side stories into the the main story line, I was saying make the main storyline longer and more detailed, and possible put a few decision points in there to allow for different endings. I would have loved to kill my dad in FO3 right when I saw him and have it alter how the story goes.

I'm simply asking for more of what I liked about the game. I liked the main story and wanted more. I also like being free with my choices and would like more of that.

NO FAST TRAVEL WHAT. That is just crazy talk this game would have taken me twice as long to pass without fast travel and doing side quest would be out of the question if I had to walk crossed the map for them.

I think there are vehicles

The biggest thing they need to fix is the autobalance crap. Can't stand that in the beginning i can down a supermutant with a rifle and leather armor, but later in the game, the same exact super mutants are owning my ass when i am much more skilled and have power armor and named weapons.

There is no point in this, and it's freaking stupid. I know there are mods to fix it, but it should never have been in the game in the first place.

That seems to be a fairly consistent pattern from Oblivion.

What.. what.. what is going on here? Why did I just get pwned by a goblin-oid when I am near god status?

Yeah, it's dumb, but in Oblivion, it's a lot worse. Nothing like having epic sword skills and taking 50 hits to down someone. (slight exaggeration, but not by far).

Hopefully the "hardcore mode" will take that complaint into consideration.

Sad thing about AI is that its very hard to make a smarter AI based on difficulty level, the AI is almost always going to simply get more HP or cheat in most games, it would take way too much work to do it any other way. It really sucks but what can you do.

I will definitely buy and play the crap out of this game. I am sad that the graphics engine is the same however, it was mildly dated when the game first came out and now it is signifigantly dated.

Yeah, AI seems to be every game's weak point. I'm more in favor of having more enemies at a time in order to increase difficulty. You can one-shot kill with headshots.... but then you have to deal with all his buddies as well.

Same here regarding Fallout 3's AI. If one of my teammates got their head blown off I and the rest of the team would be going to look for the perpetrator lol.

Even with this minor exclusion, Fallout 3 is an awesome game. Especially considering the abudnant mods available for Fallout 3. Even without the mods, I'd still be playing Fallout 3 on a daily basis. :D

Random question.. the only difference between the collector's edition and standard is:
• “Lucky 7” poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
• A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas!
• A recreation of the game’s highly coveted “Lucky 38” platinum chip.
• A hardcover graphic novel “All Roads”, that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. “All Roads” was written by Chris Avellone, the game’s creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
• ‘The Making of Fallout: New Vegas’ DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

No other in game perks or discounted DLC? Do any particular retailers have store specific in game bonuses for buying from them? I ask because if they don't then the preorder win goes to amazon..

However you can install the game on as many systems as you want (with no restrictions!)

So... if I register the game on my Steam account I can still register it on another Steam account?

Why would you assume I was talking about multiple accounts?

The adjective 'another' tends to refer to "additional"... If you already spoke of one account with steam - said "another" that would mean at least a second account.

Nop, i'm pretty sure u can't
If u want ur friend to play it, lend him ur steam account and don't use it while he plays

Its hard to tell from the grainy videos. But has there been any improvements to the engine? It looks so...2008. Even Direct x 11 or something would help. I know it has a new story, and that is one of the truely important elements. But, without a facelift, it kind of looks like i'll be going through the same game again. With the same engine, looks, etc. wouldn't it be better as a giant add on pack??? It would fit into the story. The first one was all a dream...and then you find your MIRV in a dream house! And it turns out youve been drinking something.

Same engine, kinda sucky.

Will not buy.

I think if you are a fan of the series and the genre you should buy it. Especially if you like the idea of some of the original developers working on it.

What is meant by that is: you can log on to your Steam account on any machine, download the game any time, and play without a limit to the number of installs.

You can't register the key to multiple accounts and you can't share accounts.

Bad advice. Account sharing is against the SSA and is grounds for it to be permanently disabled.

Really? Didn't you like Fallout 3? Or is the openworld post-apocalyptic fallout genre not your preference?

Actually I'm quite sure if you didn't like Fallout 3, you'll enjoy this one, as they are catering more towards the old-school RPG gamers rather than the Bethesda crowd.

As long as you're not lending it out to a lot of people I don't think Valve really cares. Letting one person use it isn't going to cause Valve to suddenly shut down your account.

Just because you said the words post apacalyptic. I've not played it, but how close to fallout is metro 2033? I was just watching the trailer...And i'm sure that that is what fallout should be. It just looks like a darker fallout. It has the same apocalyptic setting...monsters etc. Maybe for fallout 4?
Also to do with account sharing. If they are using the steam cloud save file system, you can't just use offline mode can you???

I don't think there are any problems with using offline mode, it's just that it won't synchronize local saves with the cloud. Meaning, if you want to reformat and never synched with the cloud, you will need to back up the saves prior to formatting.

So, I play on two computers, but other people in the house have games they play off my account, so I always have one in offline mode. But can I still download save files off steam cloud? And is there an easy way of transfering the files themselves? I've not really tried.
