Fallout: London

Vortex. It uses a virtual file system so you can manage multiple mod profiles while always being able to easily go back to your base/vanilla install without any fuss (just start the game directly instead of through Vortex).
thanks. well i screwed something up the first time and had to start over from scratch, noticed in the london installer notes it said something about it modifying files and if you wanted to play vanilla F4 you would need to re-install so i just wen't ahead w/out a mod manager and ended up getting it going the second time around. crashed once, then got buffout 4 and long load fix installed the regular way and seems to be running good now with reasonable load times. def way better than before.

i know i read somewhere to that it's suppose to be like you said that if you use mod manager you should be able to bounce back and forth between regular and london, but right now i'm not worried about it, just happy it's finally running right after 2 days of messing with things. if i ever want to play F4 again i'll just reinstall it. but thanks to everyone for the help.

edit: i will say this, even though i had "Long Loading Times Fix" installed i did have a bad hang on trying to enter a building (had to kill program with task manager). i ended up installing this one and now everything loads like we're use to in other games using nvme ssd's

Running downgrader on a fresh Fallout 4 install right now. They weren't kidding when saying it'll take a long time.

It did nothing when I tried it, sat at "Downloading Depot 1/7" forever, and task manager showed no network activity.
afaik it is supposed to redownload the entire game so it will take however long your internet does.

I just got it from GOG. Maybe that was their plan all along...

Fallout 4 took an hour to download so if this is still stuck at 1/7 after that I'll cancel and wait until time to hit the rack tonight to try again.

if you don't want to worry about the downgrading mess, i linked the torrent for the version you need in a previous post.

and if you or anyone goes that route, just let me know if you want me to tell you the steps to take so you don't waste a bunch of time like i did and that way you get it right the first time.

because their directions, especially for offline installation, are kind of all over the place, like they tell you you need a certain mod and the mod says it needs two dependencies, but what they don't tell you is those dependencies are already installed during the london installation. stuff like that.

Finally got a settlement at the 9 hour mark, and that's with actively seeking it out.
Somebody is gonna have to mod in a storage chest somewhere for the early game.

I installed the clean pipboy + fullscreen pipboy mods and restitched a larger picture of the entire map (for my personal reference).
Will be the best we have until an interactive map comes online.

Here's all the Coaster (bobblehead) locations I could find. Missing Intelligence and Unarmed, they are in the hidden areas.
Spoilers.

Hey did you eventually get it to work? I wanna play the mod and was going to get the GOG GotY version and use that downgrader... sounds like a pita..

Maybe the torrent route is best? Playing offline mode is fine with me..

The GOG version never updated, so you don't need the downgrader. You just install the game and then install folon on top of it.
The folon downgrader was broken on release, I beieve it is patched now. There is another one on Nexus which definitely works, there's also a way to manually downgrade through the steam browser. But it's still a pain in the ass.

https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/1cgm7um/guide_how_to_downgrade_fo4_and_keep_vortex_mods/

On another note, FallUI and sorting icons/tags work near perfectly. A few items are undetected and just get a generic gear icon, until a folon patch gets made.

I decided to go the Steam route and it was super easy.
I just installed FO4 (minus the texture DLC) , then downloaded FO:L, then installed the Downgrader from the Nexus, then I installed FO:L.

Started FO:L through GOG Galaxy and it kept all my prior FO4 controls, then I saved and shut it down, then I went to Steam and clicked play to bring up the launcher so I could set the res @ 4K and max everything out with weapon debris off.

I have about 2hrs in so far, just met the Vagabonds. I like it.
The ATTA-boy is a mod I've seen before, but it looks great and those damn Radshrews piss me off! I only use VATS in FO4 once in a blue moon, but I'm using it all the time in this mod, maybe cuz it's all melee so far. I found a 9mm, looks like a Luger, but I'm scared to use it since I heard that ammo is scarce.

The sound is better than I expected with a lot of new ambient sounds that add more of a horror feel to the game. The assets are very well done and not a total copy and paste from FO4, even the environments are different enough that they just don't scream FO4 mod, but I've hardly scratched the service so far.

Thoughts:
I get a strong FO:NV vibe playing it.
I like that they have collectible cigarette packs and that cigarettes give you 5xp.
I like that they included tea bags and sugar as a very British health aid. I also like how bright the "torch" is.
I've been playing it on very hard, and so far I've died once to two Radshrews ganging up on me on the top floor of the hotel.
I think it's weird that they freeze your character at certain spots in the story so that you can only move your head.
And the best thing is I've not had a single crash...yet.

OK I got it installed ... the GoG route is child's play easy... So far I like it a lot but I think I need a couple more quality-of-life mods installed for inventory.

EDIT:
Wow..that FIS complex sorter required a lot of deps but I installed all of them and it's working. TG for Vortex.. I hadn't used Vortex in a while so I wrestled with it a little but got it all working.. I had to drag .esm and .esp files for LondonWorldSpace into my Vortex mods folder to resolve some issues..

Anyways... so far so good.. this is one hell of a lot of work. Seems nice and polished so far.

My game has started crashing randomly during load screens in the "London" world space, happens every 30 minutes or so. This is after about 15 hours of gameplay with no issues whatsoever.
I pasted the exact error code into Google and the results are a bunch of Fallout London posts lol.

After I bragged about my game running so good, I couldn't play more than 2min at a time after loading it back up, because of around 30 or so constant CTD's, found out that Buffout 4 wasn't installed right according to Steam, after trying around 8 other "fixes" that didn't do shit.

So I reinstalled and ran as admin and now I'm crashing once an hour on the hour. It hurts my heart because I thought I was one of the lucky ones.
Apparently I was lucky that I got as far as I did.

I did a pastebin of my crashlogs and uploaded it. I can't make heads or tails of them. And I can't reproduce them. If you find out what it is, I would love to know.

At least I'm not living and dying by the F5 key. 🤷‍♂️

Check the buffout logs and see if you can find the error, if not, use the FO4 Crash Scanner tool to see what it says.

My error is a precombines crash, from the FOLON troubleshooting guide:
BGSCombinedCellGeometryDB, it is a previs crash. It's something we have to patch.
Weird I was able to play so long without an issue and now it's everywhere.

After I made the last post, I played non stop with no crashes till I shut it down about 5mins ago. Weird.
This is what I found in the F4SE log

Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" at 0x7FF7972D1EEE Fallout4.exe+1B41EEE

I looked it up and it seems some needed assets could not be found, but it could be a whole slew of other things apparently as well.
I'm going to check out the Buffout 4 Dictionary and run the logs thru CLAS tomorrow .

Thanks for the help.

One of the first things I do with MO2/Vortex is zip up the original master and plugin files and install it as a mod. I then make copies of them to clean and optimize them, then do the same thing with those. Protip if you decide to use it for other Bethesda games.

i will say this, i was also one of the ones not having any problems. then i started getting them in this one spot, like 3 in a row. at that time i fully rebooted my system and now i'm back to no crashes. even in the one spot that was giving me problems. so maybe something's getting corrupted in the main memory or something? idk. but it fixed it for me.

also i know a lot of people don't copletely shut their systems down these days and just let it go into standby, so a full system restart might help those people too.

I have Fastboot disabled on my rig and I shut it down every night. But that's good to know it could work for certain crashes.

So Clas basically told me that I had too many F4SE script files running when the mod was playing, so I pointed it at the mod location and told it to check the files and it cleaned it up I guess, since I haven't
crashed since. Must have been left over from one of my installs on 3 different drives.

I'm now 10hrs in and I'm just loving it, although I do wish the indoor cell locations were bigger and had more loot to offer, but doesn't every Fallout fan?

Some of them are just one-room buildings, like a laundromat with 2 ghouls and a couple containers to loot. Takes like 10 seconds.
Others are pretty big, I just cleared an entire apartment building with hooligans in it. And some underground sewers. Each took about 15-20 minutes each.

But yes it varies a lot, I don't think FO4 had any interior locations as small as some of London's.

Yeah sometimes it takes longer to load the interior cell than it does to loot it.
The biggest I've come across so far is the Police Station, I haven't found any sewers yet, hope their good.

I can't believe how long it takes to level up either. I've got about 11hrs in now and I just hit level 7 on very hard.
And let me tell you, it's a lot harder than FO4, especially with those damn debuffs they give you once your off the train.

The mod nerfs XP from kills, most XP you get is from quests.
Also there is a beer mat that is supposed to increase XP from kills but it is bugged and cuts your XP in half.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4london/mods/32

I think they wanted slower xp overall so you are forced to specialize your build.
Yeah I got a shit load of XP for getting that med kit for the guy that was gut shot in the beginning.

I haven't gotten any mats yet, must of missed them. Mats as in door mats? I have gotten 2 coasters though. I'll keep an eye out for that Combat mat.
Now I'm informed. thx.

really? i hadn't heard about that one. i did hear about the one from "the hound" (the bar right up the street from "saw & mitre" base, the one there is suppose to add 20% melee damage, but instead cuts all damage by 50%. i tried it and it's def still a bug.

you don't happen to know where the one you're talking about is at do you?

well if you ended up picking up the xp one you're talking about, you could always us a console command to give yourself xp. just hit the ~ key and to get 500xp type:
CGF "Game.RewardPlayerXP" 500

LOL! Ok so I have gotten some mats then, never heard coasters called mats before.
me either, was kind of confused at first too. especially i think there are some "beer mats" or something similar sitting on the actual bars too

I don't know where the xp mat is, but the beer mats are only found in pubs, the cup icons on your map.

This mod just keeps impressing.
The amount of detail everywhere is insane, it's so dense.
yeah it sux to see so many people whining and complaining in the forums about it just because they aren't getting a "console like" experience installing it and getting it running. i know the creators spent a lot of time and effort putting it together and not making a dime off it. personally i think it rocks, and to me it's like getting a whole new fallout game. so i hope they see the few positive comments in between all the negativity and know there are a good amount of us out here appreciating what they've done.

It seems like ammo drop rates scale based on how powerful the guns are that use it.
I have around 4000 of the basic .32 ammo, unlimited effectively. But for the other guns I use I hover around 100-300 rounds, even while using it sparingly.

You can craft ammo but you will always be short on fertilizer. I think troughs are supposed to generate fertilizer but someone told me they are broken. Settlements overall are pretty broken right now so getting extra materials from workers is a challenge too.

In short, if you are going to play a gun build, take all of the Scrounger perk right away so you can stockpile ammo from the start.
.32 guns become insanely weak as you level and you will literally need the rare ammos to kill enemies. My shotgun and revolver do about 10x the amount of damage as the strongest .32 gun.

Hell the .303 weapons (Combat Rifle, Service Rifle, Vintage Rifle are all weak unless you have a least the Gun Nut 3, Rifleman 3 and Lone Wander perks combined in my experience.

So I had a few of those beer mats already (still haven't gotten the Combat mat yet) and I figured what the hell, so I dropped the .esp in the data folder an activated it, all I can say is wow!
My damage went up on all of my weapons and now my XP that I have been earning has raised to what I consider normal for my level and difficulty.

Good looking out TaintedSquirrel!

I spent the last few days in South London with no crashes, went back to North London today and it's basically unplayable. The western half spits out BGSGeometry errors every hour or so and the east side spits out BSTextureErrors every 5 minutes.

I went to the Codsworth channel on their Discord and the log somebody posted above me is the exact same lol.
The solution for texture streaming errors is to disable Buffout's memory manager and increase system paging file to 20 GB. Interesting.

Hotfix 1.01 just released.

# Fallout: London Version V1.01
# UPDATE AVAILABLE
Internal IV2.31R3 PV1.01

# Notes:
- To update, follow these simple steps:

**1.** Update Fallout: London in your GOG library
**2.** Press Play
**3.** Press Update in the Fallout: London Launcher (Follow the instructions from here)
**4.** Navigate to your Fallout 4 Data folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data - OR - C:\GOG\Fallout 4 GOTY\Data
**5.** Double click on "LondonWorldSpace - ClearUp.bat"
This bat file will remove any redundant files that aren't needed anymore, don't forget to do this.

- This update focuses on important hot-fixes. Keep in mind that to deliver this update in a timely manner, certain fixes could not be included:
* Primarily for area crashes and random crashes as they require cell edits which necessitate regeneration of Previs and Precombines (Core optimization systems of the game).
* This process takes days to fix the assets and then days to generate and test, be patient on us with this one.
* Fixes are being implemented to improve the stability of the mod, once prepared we'll have another update ready for you.
- Buffout 4 and xSE PluginPreloader are now included with the newest build of Fallout: London:
* Don't panic, if you already have Buffout and xSE it will simply be replaced by the Fallout: London installer.
* We have removed Baka and implemented a fix to use Buffout's memory management uncapping script memory usage (This is built into Buffout 4).
* Alongside this we have added a flag to re-enable achievements so we can test the achievement send events through GOG (No promise that acheivements will work yet but we can get more information on this)
- There has been a few tweaks to the included INI files of the installer to improve stability:
* High settings are now the default and various fixes to some values.
* If you have custom INI's already, for ultrawide support as an example, be sure to back up your current INI files before updating, afterwards you can implement any fixes you need or leave them as they are.

We decided to get key fixes into your hands as soon as possible, so expect more quest and stability fixes very soon. Here's what we've changed:

# CHANGE-LOG:
# Quest Fixes:
- "Broken Angel"
* Fixed issue with how the player's health is handled after the train crash, which disproportionately lowered the max HP of characters with already high health or endurance level, when it should have lowered the player's *current* HP instead.
* Since the early-game balance was accidentally built around this bug, we have made the effects of the "Lab Rat" and "Railway Spine" afflictions more serious (though it will still be slightly easier).
- "Charybdis"
* Added The Ferryman to the PlayerFriendFaction to allow a few accidental hits. The Ferryman and Sushi are also now added to the PlayerAllyFaction during the fight with the leeches.
* The utility entrance now gets locked to "Novice" after speaking with Rachel in the market, this is to make the quest marker point to the main entrance at the beginning of the next quest.
- "Heavenslayer"
* Added quest markers on important keys in the Bank of England.
* Temporary fix for a bug where going through the Angel Station Lab permanently disables ambient music in people's saves.
* You have to reload to before entering the lab for this to work. If you've already triggered it on your save, check the solutions channel on discord. Proper fix coming next update.
- "Parliament of Fools"
* Made H4N-24RD non-hackable.
- "Dolls Of The Deep"
* The first note you pick up now mentions the correct location.

I'm up north next to Charlie Browns, and after updating it, I'm not sure if it is intentional, but all the Ladybugs are renamed Ladybirds now.

EDIT: And now my Combat Rifle uses .280 ammo instead of .303?!? WTF?

I now have 241hrs into it and the mod is in serious need of patching as every one knows.
I've spent the last week coc'ing, setstageing, tcl'ing every fucking side quest just about, along with save scumming and getting trapped in cells more often than I care to admit.

The mod is great, but the out of the blue crashing and getting stuck in convos is grating on my nerves.
I've done every side mission (along with breaking more than I can count and fixed with setstage) that I could find and discovered every location.

I'm now halfway through the main quest line I think, and just have a few misc things to settle.

Hopefully they can fix it to the point I don't need to try to fix every NPC and cell fuck up just to proceed.
