Fallout: London

Another update today.
Seems like at least a week for release...

https://www.reddit.com/r/fallout4london/comments/1e85kql/update_about_the_green_light/

Many of you are already on our Discord so may have noticed the bots updated autoresponder. We are pleased to inform you that GOG has given us the green light and now the project is now back in our hands for the final stage.

This doesn’t mean it will be available this weekend. It simply means that the ball is now in our court and no longer with GOG. All the necessary preparations on our end are complete, so you won't be waiting much longer.

Given the reaction to the last time we hinted at a specific date, we won’t make any promises right now. But you will certainly be seeing regular updates during the next week, especially if you are on one of our supporter Platforms.

So, please remain patient! We wasn't joking when we said the end is in sight.

Once everything is finalised on our side, literally the last boring bits of admin, we will make an official announcement here and on our Discord through the Team FOLON account. So, please hang tight – it’s coming soon™.

But, let’s be practical. Please avoid any speculation on the release date, as many of us, along with others, don’t work on weekends. This means we can only coordinate starting Monday or Tuesday, so any actionable steps will happen within the week. That should give you an idea to chew on. But you'll be kept updated daily throughout in one way or another.

We understand everyone is excited, but navigating through the necessary release procedures takes time. Thank you for your patience.

NOTE: Please remember that only posts made through this account are representative of the team and are official. Any posts from developers or moderators reflect their personal opinions and are not officially endorsed by the team. We do not regularly monitor Reddit; we only do so for 24 hours on significant update days. Otherwise, this platform is not actively used by us. You would find out more via our Discord or Supporter platforms.

Something is happening on Friday.

update:
The game briefly appeared on GOG (no download), and they added install instructions to the "Release" section of their website. Both removed after about an hour.

Ok so set me straight. I have my Steam version of Fallout 4 from way back since day one. It's uninstalled at present and now here I am staring down reinstalling this digital crack yet again. ;)

If I install it and nothing else except Fallout London when it releases am I good to go or do I need to extra steps to disable updates or something else. Sorry if repeat.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/if...need-to-downgrade-fallout-4s-next-gen-version I am reading this from the previous page.

You'll need to run a downgrader like you need to with Fallout 3 to run FOSE. The one for Fallout 3 is an automated package you can download from Nexus. There might be one for Fallout 4.

Fallout London will ship with its own installer and downgrader

Couple issues.

1. The folon downgrader doesn't work. There's another downgrader on nexus as well as a manual method thru steam.
2. I pointed the gog installer directly to my FO4 folder but it installed folon to a subdir called "Fallout London" am I supposed to copy the files from there into my game dir?

Take a look in the directory. It may have made a standalone installation. And as always: RTFM.

Steam instructions:

Only required if you own Fallout 4 on Steam:

In this case, rolling back to the 1.10.163.0 version of Fallout 4: GOTY Edition is still doable but far more complex. But don’t worry, we got you covered. To do so, follow this instructions:

Type steam://open/console into your browser. This will prompt Steam to open the console.

There, you need to download each part of the previous Fallout 4: GOTY Edition version by typing the following commands into the console:

For Part A use:
download_depot 377160 377161 7497069378349273908

For Part B use:
download_depot 377160 377163 5819088023757897745

For the executable file use:
download_depot 377160 377162 5847529232406005096

For the English version use:
download_depot 377160 377164 2178106366609958945

To download the content for each of the DLCs that you may own type these commands
(having those DLCs is necessary to play Fallout: London):

For HD Texture Pack use:
download_depot 377160 540810 1558929737289295473

For Automatron use:
download_depot 377160 435870 1691678129192680960

For Automatron English language pack use:
download_depot 377160 435871 5106118861901111234

For Wasteland Workshop use:
download_depot 377160 435880 1255562923187931216

For Far Harbor use:
download_depot 377160 435881 1207717296920736193

Far Harbor English language pack use:
download_depot 377160 435882 8482181819175811242

For Contraptions Workshop use:

These files will download into your Steam library folder
(by default it is “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_377160”) in separate depot folders, for example, the Fallout 4 executable file would be in a folder named “depot_377162”.

Once you have these files downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop, and copy the contents of each of the aforementioned folders into this new folder replacing files as you go.

Once you are done, it means you have constructed the entirety of the previous version of
Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition. Now, simply delete everything in your current
Fallout 4: GOTY Edition installation folder and replace it with everything in this folder.

Once this is complete locate your Steam app manifest file for fallout 4.
The file we need to find is called “appmanifest_377160”. It is typically found in the Steam apps folder E.g:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_377160.acf

Right click on the appmanifest_377160.acf and click properties and set the file to read only by ticking the read only tick box. Now press OK.

This will nullify Steam’s ability to update the game automatically by any means unless you accidentally update through Steam forcibly.

GOG Manual install:

It is possible to manually install Fallout: London and manually downgrade Fallout 4.
This will give you some advanced control over your Fallout: London installation.

Once you have downgraded Fallout 4 and downloaded Fallout: London through GOG,
you can now manually install the mod if you wish to do so.

Some users may wish to do this to add Fallout: London to a mod manager,
allowing them to enable and disable Fallout: London on the fly.

To manually install Fallout: London without the use of the installer,
start by locating where GOG has downloaded the files to:
GOGFolon01-1.png

Inside of this folder you will find the installer, F4SE, the Data folder and more.
Bear in mind you will have to install F4SE one way or another.
You can use the F4SE files included or install it as normal through the Silverlock website.

From here you can zip the Data folder and install the zip as a mod in your preferred mod manager:
GOGFolon05.png

We highly recommend you use our INI files that are also included.
You can either replace the INIs in your documents/my games/fallout 4 folder OR
You can add our INIs and their settings to your preferred mod managers INI editor.
These can be found in the _Config folder:

I get it. These guys are volunteers, they got screwed by a sudden surprise update and the content is free. This process and related instructions however is a mess.
yeah i didn't have it installed so i'm just downloading the version it needs from Torrent, and it's the GOG version so everything should go smooth

edit: if anyone needs it here's the torrent file

I'm curious to try out FO London. I've never used GOG so curious what hassle that is.
nothing to it. plus once you have any of your games installed from them you actually don't even need to use the program to launch the game, you can do it directly from the exe or a shortcut being its DRM free. but you can still do it through GOG galaxy so you can keep games updated and/or use cloud saves.

The subreddit is flooded with posts about crashes, freezes, infinite load screens.
Maybe just typical Bethesda game issues but the mod might also still need some polish...

I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet but will probably try it out later today.

Keep us posted in this thread cuz I want to live vicariously through you for now before I take the plunge. :D

I assume this requires owning the game and all DLC right? I skipped buying this one But would consider it if this mod ends up being really good and if the game is now dirt cheap.

Yes and yes.
You can get the GOTY edition on either GOG or Steam.
Okay I'll wait for reviews. Hoping it's good, but just because it's a mod won't automatically make it good in the same way. That just because food trucks are cool it doesn't mean that their food is actually good. And i'm one of Bethesda's biggest haters now , with the likes of Starfield. But a good game is a good game no matter whst game its modded into. So ill keep an open mind.

i would say get it from GOG, it would make the whole process a little easier if you are getting it mainly to play london. and if/when you do get it don't update to the latest "next-gen" update. the mod needs GOTY v1.10.163.0

You know I just realized, since GOG never got the next-gen update then how was the next-gen exclusive version of the mod supposed to work on it?
The original plan was to release next-gen only. In that situation the game would have required Steam.

Supposedly Team Folon recommends that you don't install the high resolution textures DLC because of the textures being the wrong sizes and that it causes some of the crashing in game.
Can anyone confirm this that has the mod installed??

You have to downgrade FO4 to before "Next Gen" update to install FO London?
I have the GOTY game and FO London is free in Gog

yes there are instructions on how to do so, but i think only steam version got the next gen update. if you got F4 on GOG it should just work. but it needs to be vanilla as in no mods. so uninstall any if you are using them.

probably the easiest way would be a clean install of GOG version, get it setup and running, then install the F:L on top of it. i'm not going to get to it tonight, prob tomorrow

Wow, no mods? That's a high price!
Are there plans to make this work with the next gen update and/or mods in the near future?
Must be lots of work for some pro-bono modders though...

i guess the easiest thing to do is if you already own it on steam, just leave that how you got it and go and pick up F4 on sale for $20 over at GOG and do a separate install. would prob be a lot less headache. and once you got it working if you want to try modding it further then nobody's stopping you.

Yep. I'll give it a try

Here's the full map with all locations shown. The console command to reveal locations didn't work until I left the train station, so I think those blank areas have to be entered before the locations can be revealed.
I will be compiling a list of all the perks/traits as well since there are no wikis or guides available yet.

Map spoilers obviously.

Kinda waiting for the dust to settle before I grab it. I have steam fo4, but have been tempted to buy again through gog, eyeing the gog price. Still don't understand why steam has to make it hard to play the version of games we want, even "accidentally" updating games we desperately avoid updating.

Small thoughts after about 5 hours.

* Play a melee build if you can. Ammo and guns are extremely rare, apparently it becomes less of an issue later on. And there is ammo crafting I think.
* Very difficult. Healing items including radx/radaway are also very rare. There's also more radiation spots that ramp up faster, compared to FO4. I was kinda getting my ass kicked by shrews at the start of the game lol.
* Map design kinda sucks. The open world is more or less a series of path ways, not an open-map design. There are a lot of invisible walls and other barriers that prevent you from walking in any direction. Interiors are small, cramped, and maze-like. You will get lost in Thameshaven guaranteed.
* Voice acting, writing, and dialog system are all great. Better than vanilla bethesda games obviously, better than Enderal as well. They also don't re-use the same voice actor for 100 characters.
* The perks are almost entirely copy-pasted from Fallout 4, some have a few minor changes. But mostly the same.
* The currency is TICKETS not BOTTLE CAPS. Pick up all the tickets you find. You're welcome.
* No settlement early on. You will run around with a full inventory for hours, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Also the game has very long load times, use the Long Loading Times Fix mod to speed them up. Drops load times from 1-1.5 minutes to about 10-20 seconds for me. Absolutely necessary.

Some of my favorite mods so far.

That was what I thought after seeing the map you posted. Not going to lie about having the interest I had sucked out of me after seeing that map.

Another tip: The dialog trees for some NPC's is massive, I've seen some with a dozen or so choices. But for some reason the FOLON team only enabled the skill check dialog icons in XDI. This means for many choices you have no idea what the outcome will be. Some end conversations, some are just questions that loop back.

You can edit the settings.ini file in the Data\XDI folder to enable the extra icons, particularly the door icon which shows when dialog will exit. The other icons ("looping") don't seem to work, they just show up blank. But at least you know which options to avoid if you don't want to end conversations. A lot of them can't be repeated once you exit the dialog, meaning you have 1 chance to hear them.

Example pic.

so i'm still sitting here waiting on london installer to finish downloading, and i'm looking at the "long load fix" page and it's saying to DL & install "address librarary for F4SE plugin" and "fallout 4 script extender". do i still need those? isn't F4SE part of how the London mod runs? because it says to launch "f4se_loader.exe" to play the game.

plus i'm now seeing it says:
Installing Buffout 4 & xSE Plugin Preloader
- We recommend installing Buffout 4 to minimise bugs and to maximise up-time.
- Manually download xSE Plugin Preloader
Drag and drop the contents of the downloaded zip folder into the Fallout 4 game folder

do i do that before or after installing london mod? (sorry not use to modding this game) i currently have F4 installed and working, waiting for London to finish downloading being i'm using offline installer

The plugin preloader is 2 files that you drop into your main FO4 folder.
Buffout 4 and Long Load Fix are F4SE scripts, you put those into the F4SE\Plugins folder. FOLON comes with several mods (including F4SE) pre-installed.

Install FO4 -> Download FOLON from GOG -> Run the installer & point it to your FO4 Folder -> install mods.

I highly recommend using a mod manager. Things can get messy, really fast if you manually install mods.

which one do you recommend?

After watching 10 min of gameplay, it looks way too janky to be enjoyable
And as with Bethesda games, like it requires a bunch of workarounds just to get it working
