Fallout 4

Black Flag used Nvidia's god ray tech, how did that work out? It's a genuine question, I have no idea.

Poorly. Black flag was a mess for people with AMD hardware. At least early on, not sure if they improved that with patches and drivers. That said, I have a lot more confidence in Bethesda's abilities at making a PC game than Ubisoft's.

God rays looked and performed really well in FC4.

Edit: Though FC3/4 never performed well for me using single and sli 7970's & 290x's. It just had this weird stutter.

I'm wondering what else is in the Ambient Occlusion dropdown besides SSAO (High). That'll be the first thing I check when the game unlocks. I've become a believer in HBAO+ after seeing the improvement in a number of games.

HBAO+ is an Nvidia exclusive...I think Fallout 4 is using some Nvidia tech but not the complete GameWorks package...probably using it the way Witcher 3 used it for fur and other GameWorks-Lite features

I got the pipboy preordered but not sure if it is even worth trying to sell it for profit. It doesn't fit my iphone plus and i bought the game and season pass pre-ordered on sale.

i have to say i'm getting pretty damn excited for this game. if it weren't for a business trip Nov. 11th-13th i'd be taking some time off from work to nerd-out with this.

I guess someone did a timed 'run-through' of F4's map and took him 10ish minutes to get from one end to the other.

God I fucking hate linking a Kotaku article.

We already know exactly how big the map is.

Skyrim -> FO4 -> FO3

Fallout 4 map looks bigger in scale but also seems to have a lot of dead space on the right which is probably not explorable

Unofficial Fallout 4 Build Planner: http://www.rpg-gaming.com/fo4.html

Kotaku article on it: http://kotaku.com/new-tool-lets-you-build-a-fallout-4-character-early-1740522645

Its real value isn't so much in creating an initial character as it is in assisting with long-term planning. Once you've built and named your post-nuclear alter-ego, you can take it through multiple levels, choosing perks and increasing your SPECIAL attributes as you go. Some perks are dependent upon having a certain level or attribute, and will remain greyed out until you've leveled your character high enough, or go back to tweak your stats.

If nothing else, the Perk chart (which you can access in full without having to first create a character) is interesting in its own right.

ok guys, fuck me this thread is gonna make pay full price for this game, and i dont even started playing the witcher 3 that i got months ago

This game will be way mo betta.

Plus you can get it from greenmangaming or cdkeys for 20% off, the season pass too!

I hope its not all radio songs. I like the dark ambient in games like this to build the atmosphere.

Me too. That's what I'm hoping for. Nothing that hits you over the head - just something in the background to give the world some additional texture and make certain moments "pop" a little more.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/fallout-4-gunplay-modeled-after-destinys/1100-6431981/ <- Not sure about this simply because I'm fairly certain Fallout 4 has been in development in Bethesda's slower than molasses cycle predating Destiny but I could be mistaken. The name Destiny gets mentioned and the hate train comes out. I'm playing Destiny on the PS4 and it's a good game.

All I know is I better see 60fps on the PC.

I think is good news simply because 3 and New Vegas encouraged VATS to a fault. The gunplay outside of VATS... sucked as far as I'm concerned... so when I'm in the mood to play it like a real FPS I consider this a positive development.

I think the exciting thing with the changes they've made to the Creation engine is the power it gives to modders. Sure, the main game is limited by disappointing console performance, but the implementation of PBR, Volumetric Lighting, etc give the modders a ton of new stuff to play with and tweak. I imagine this game has the potential to look very good, the bones are all there, the skin right now just sucks.

I like this quote from the first article.

So while in a game like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt you won't find yourself affecting the environment, in Fallout 4 explosions triggered by weapons such as Mini Nukes will cause surrounding objects to react. It's something that weighs heavily on processing, and as such has had an impact on how far Bethesda can push the game without potentially running into serious frame rate drops that take players out of the experience.

Also, someone mentioned in here that they read there will be no framerate or resolution cap. It obviously would be capped somewhere but certainly not 30fps, probably not 60fps.

By comparison, Skyrim has 343.
I may actually get over 100+ or even 200+ hours out of this game. Fantastic.

Total number of vaults, including Vault 111:
5

Me, too. A couple of hundred hours give or take is typical for me on these games.

Someone reported 400 hours of content not including any DLC's. I don't know how you would come up with that number though.
