Fallout 4

Still more than a week to go *sigh*. Can't remember the last time I was this hype about a new game :p

I'm going to wait until it drops to $40. I can definitely see that happening before the end of the holidays.

Jones Soda is coming out with a Fallout 4 limited Nuka Cola Quantum soda tie-in with the release of the game on 11-10 exclusive at Target. Info found on the Jones Soda Facebook page...

I'm starting to hit my limit with all the tie-in products..............but apparently not there yet because I see myself going to pick some of that up. :)

Apparently it's just rebranded Berry Lemonade Jones Soda. Never had a Jones Soda before so I might pick it up just for the novelty of it.

They currently have a 22% off voucher FACEYO-URFEAR-S22PER I had a 23% off one and it brought the game down to about $46

Yup, that's what I did.

I wonder if we'll still have the opportunity to pre-load (if there is one)?

There will be a pre-load as announced by Bethesda. The GMG keys are steam so 99% sure well get them the day before release but that's up to Bethesda to give them the go ahead.

I didn't lurk around the forums much when Fallout 3 launched. What happens around here? Does it get overly quiet while you guys marathon through the game?

Also, just got my copy from GMG for approx. $50 CAD. Quite a nice chunk of savings compared to buying it through Steam ($79.99 CAD).

If you have a decently fast Internet connection I'd say don't preload, because with these new big 30GB+ games, even with a fast SSD I've found Steam take longer to unencrypt the preload files than just downloading the unencrypted files right when the game unlocks.

Well it's already there if you want to take your chances with cdkeys dot com.

I'm fine with $46 from GMG though, this game isn't one worth quibbling over a few bucks. I swear if Half Life 3 finally was coming out there would be people going "I'll just wait for Steam sale".

It's Fallout 4, people! :)

Interesting, never thought of it like that. My immediate reaction to a pre-load has always been "FUCK, AND YES, PLEASE".

Yup, that's it!

Also forgot all of the day 1 "XXX is broken and SLI/Crossfire doesn't work! They better patch this broken pile of shit RIGHT NOW!" rants.

I think we should have a separate thread for fallout 4 screen shots, so this thread can stay more about game play discussion or issues without the clutter maybe?

I can see this thread being drowned in pictures fast lol.

i am taking 3 days off to play, i'll have 60 hours in by the 3rd day. :D "MOM!, BATHROOM!!!"

I think they need to partner with a robotics firm to offer us the Fallout Mr Handy Robot Assistant

Also forgot all of the day 1 "XXX is broken and SLI/Crossfire doesn't work! They better patch this broken pile of shit RIGHT NOW!" rants.

And the people that proudly proclaim in the thread, 6 months before release, that they won't buy it because it's dumb, and will continually post in the thread up to a year or more later stating that they're still. not. playing. it. The relevance!

When Fallout 4 becomes available for play, I seriously doubt I will be out of the first town within a week. I'm going to explore every nook and cranny of the first town before I even set foot out in the wasteland.

anyone else worried that we are barely hearing any news about gameplay, early impressions or previews of the game?

Not I. With the release so close I seriously doubt anyone would post gameplay footage. Besides, anyone who does post gameplay footage (besides Bethesda themselves) prior to release date/time would get in a lot of hot water.

I'm talking about previews and early impressions from review sites...usually they get access to big games several times during development and post their early impressions...I haven't seen much if any of that with Fallout 4

Meh, there's nothing much they really could completely fuck up, at this point. They have a formula that works, and I guarantee I'll get at least 60 hours out of it, even if the story is trash.

Good possibility Bethesda put the brakes on any review being published prior to release. A great deal of people love the Fallout series so I'd imagine they wouldn't want a negative review published which would decrease sales, if there is a negative review.

Bethesda's lawyers are pretty experienced so violating the non-disclosure agreements with them is likely to be unpleasant ... it is also possible they only released to the folks with big bucks who are less likely to want to spend them all defending themselves in court

Bethesda is more of a known quantity (like Blizzard) ... will their software be buggy (probably) ... will it have some hardware issues (likely) ... will many start immediately whining about _____________________ (insert topic here ... choices include story, graphics, controls, gameplay, bugs, mods, etc) (almost certainly) ... but will we like it (good chance) and will we play it regardless of any niggling complaint (does the ursine mammal defecate in the deciduous vegetated area)

the one thing I am a little worried about is the second screen PIPBoy app ... the Fallout Shelter app was fun but buggy, resource intensive, and crashy ... I expect that there could be some problems with the PIPBoy app before that settles down

you guys don't get what I'm saying...I'm not talking about violating non disclosure agreements etc...don't you guys play a lot of games??...there is always quite a few articles, early impression pieces etc before a game is released from official gaming sites from the time a game is officially announced...mostly to generate hype but also to see how the game is coming along...I haven't seen or heard much about Fallout 4 except for those official S.P.E.C.I.A.L videos dealing with Strength, Luck etc

Nope. Bethesda Game Studios is a known quantity. I'm actually glad there isn't a deluge of prerelease spoilers and footage spamming the gaming sites like every conveyor belt Halo or COD game.

Anyone that's played Fallout 3 or Skyrim or watched any of the E3 gameplay has a pretty good idea what we're getting.
