Fallout 4

My impression after reading several sites is that the Android version is coming later ... there is no indication how long but I am sure it will be before the launch of the PC game

Thanks. Not too long I hope, as this should be my Fallout fix until the game is release

i believe it, they showed a lot, way more than you usually see with a reveal, and they have done a pretty good job about keeping details under wraps outside of the spiteful ex female employee that spilled a bunch of details a year ago when she got fired.

Yeah, I'm with you. What we saw wasn't a teaser trailer or something. It was an in-depth gameplay demonstration. Also, I don't recall BES ever having an issue with hitting a release date.

call me crazy, but after sleeping on this presentation, my gut tells me they are setting this up for some type of mmo

they've learned alot of the skyrim to eso transition..why not incorporate all they learned into a fallout to fallout online?

that crafting/building system looks a hell of alot more intricate for a mmo game than some single player game imho

and don't think of it in CURRENT mmo concepts/gameplay..it could very well become something different than the wow clones we have today...one guy I was listening to yesterday said his FIIRST thought was my god, I'd love to play with other people in this game

perhaps by 2018...and lets face it, the world is sick of wow and all its clones..EQ Next was suppose to be the next big/game changing mmo...maybe fallout online will be

just random musings

Who is this "they" you are talking about? It can't be Bethesda Gameworks because they had absolutely nothing to do with ESO. After ESO I'm not sure if Zenimax will be so quick to jump on the bandwagon again.

Well that blows, I probably would have gone for the Pip-Boy Edition. :(

EDIT: Amazon just allowed me to pre-order it even though it said they weren't taking any more pre-orders...?

They got more, its available for all three platforms again.

Woooo got my Amazon order in now. I had a feeling more would come up but I ordered now just in case.

no idea who it would be..I was merely suggesting that the crafting/building system seemed like alot of overkill for a single player game and looked to me like it was built for an mmo...again, if you build it, 'they' will come perhaps

and I doubt it would resemble any mmo we have today..as a matter of fact, THAT model would fail like all of them have/will ...no, i'm suggesting something new and we could brainstorm all day with possibilities but we really don't know.

but one things for sure, the current mmo model/genre is going downhill..it NEEDS something off the wall and fresh...fallout ip would be a great 'first step' imho

I don't know about a full expensive MMO but I could see Zenimax having their studio replicate those ideas for some multiplayer thing. Maybe if Everquest Next ever becomes a thing.

It's a lot of stuff for a single player game, but it does seem like a logical progression from that build a house DLC Bethesda made for Skyrim. There looks to be a lot of lessons learned from both FO3 and Skyrim that they've taken. If it all comes together as good as it seems to in the videos I could easily see this being Bethesda's best game. It's going to really raise the bar for the new Elder Scroll's title as well.

It is surprisingly fun, although I am still getting my arms around the rules ... I got my first citizen to 100% happiness (he was the only one to get laid twice ... not sure if that is related :D ) ... managing resources definitely requires some planning but since they don't sell resources there is no pay to win strategy there (just typical strategy game patience and planning) ... I have three citizens with buns in the oven (not sure how long it takes them to pop yet or whether children can be used to staff rooms)

Yeah I refreshed the page and the "no more preorders" message went away. Looks like I got in just in time!

I refreshed mine and it still shows some available for all three platforms. Unless they just recently got a shit load more.

So... apparently PC mods will work for this on Xbox One. That's pretty cool. I still know where I'll be playing, but that's a step in the right direction for people playing on consoles.

Todd Howard just presented again @ the Xbox show.
Some new footage.

They also announced mod support for the XBO.

free mods, from pc version will work on xbox one.

which means mods on pc will remain free as well.

Important part was that it's free. So it looks like no paid mods!

I just saw this. PC mods for Fallout 4 will be transferable and playable on Xbox One for free. That's fucking awesome. I guess the mod debate is slowly being put to rest... the only thing left is full keyboard and mouse support...

Yeah, I guess what I meant was that I must have ordered right when they got more in.

I bet the mods will be curated.

I mean there's no way they are going to allow any/all mods on pc to be downloaded to xbox one.

First off, viruses?
Second off, nude mods? I could see another Hot Coffee.
Third, Texture/graphical upgrades (that the xbone couldn't handle).

So I think the mods that you can download will be mods that Bethseda specifically picks/allows and it won't just be free reign to download any/every pc mod.

Probably... I'm sure they will do their best to keep people from breaking the game.

I think its going to be done by bethesda, i think they showed some system that would do mods and maps for all their games. I'm sure this will how it will be done. This way there is some quality control to it.

You forgot high end graphics, fps, and resolution.

And I doubt that all the mods will be readily available on consoles just a select few that get approved and curated

I'm not sure how its being put to rest, but MODS* on Xbox One will be with a big fat asterisk, because MS is adamant about maintaining iron fist control over their pristine garden.

Most of the power of mods have come from outside Script Extension utilities like NVSE. These kind of tools are standalone executables and won't be able to run on the XB1 or any other console. Simple mods to add new equipment and stuff should work just fine on the Xbox (just like simple mods for Oblivion, Fallout and Skyrim work on a JTAG-modified Xbox 360) but anything that makes use of custom scripting features is out.

I'm sure there will be some kind of approval process, if only to make sure the mods don't break the system or the game entirely. I have a feeling it will be tied to Bethesda.net and that XB1 players will be able to download mods from a list of compatible ones. I'm be surprised if something like ENB or a scrip extender made it onto the XB1 version.

One of my favorite reads is the yearly Underhanded C contest.

"The goal of the Underhanded C contest is to write code that is as readable, clear, innocent and straightforward as possible, and yet it must fail to perform at its apparent function. To be more specific, it should do something subtly evil."

Let the Underhanded Fallout 4 XBox Mod contest commence...

FYI for those wanting to pre-order... GMG has a 25% off code that works for this. Use GRAB25-PERCNT-OFFNOW. Just pre-ordered for $45!

I wonder if they will announce any sort of pre-order exclusive content...so far it looks like you just get the base game.

Xim4 is $125. Full mouse and keyboard support for X360/X one /ps3/ps4.

Enjoy! :D

I would actually like someone to directly ask them about mods on the PC and see how they respond before reaching conclusions.

I can't remember did Skyrim have pre-order content stuff?

The only preorder bonus was an actual physical map with boxed copies.

New Vegas did have 4 different pre-order DLCs spread between various retailers. These added some starting items, some which were unique (although not really for the PC). These were later purchasble separately and included in the all-in-one edition.

It actually isn't really overkill. If you follow gaming more extensively outside the major titles the current trend is actually introducing more ingame customization for players. You see this with the popularity of survival games all with extensive in game consturction/customization abilities.

If anything this also plays upon one of the other popular aspects of Bethesda games which is the ability for players to customize via mods and the included editor. This new system lowers the bar of entry even more.

If you look at Fallout 3 building and equipment mods were rather popular and something players asked for.

So can someone tell me more about this?

http://store.bethsoft.com/fallout-4-pip-boy-edition.html

Looks like you just slide your phone into it? Can you just install the app and still use it?

That's how they described it in the E3 press conference ... they have a second screen PIPBoy app for the game that will be in both iOS and Android ... they also have the PIPBoy CE with a replica PIPBoy ... it has inserts and padding to work with most phones ... you could then use the PIPBoy app from inside your replica PIPBoy ... the nerdgasms were felt from coast to coast

Note: the app will work regardless of whether you have the replica ;)

My god, look at all the stuff that comes with the Pip Boy edition.
