Me also.. wow... I played the game for three hours and it would crahs to the desktop or just reboot my rig... the patch fixed all that... but I can't seem to get vsync working right again after the patch.. I think it changed the rendering modes.. from AFR to SFR... or something... something is different... it's not as smooth as it was, but it was like 2am and I was dead tired... it could have just been my eyes were framy at that point. lol. Anyways, the patch changed something for the worse in IQ (imo), I noticed some screen tearing after applying it... I will need to play with it more tonight.. maybe use the driver profile and force AFR again or something..

Sorry, by 0/20/80 split, I meant <25/25-40/>40 in %. Here you got roughly a 0/20/80 split with 4xaa. Whereas I got about 0/45/55.

In the post above, your results are 0/60/40 for 2xaa while mine were 0/20/80. So what gives? Was the first perf test you ran actually at 4x or am I missing something?

ive got a copy of it, ill throw it up on gigashare or something and post a link. i got the link off of vu's forum. havent tried it yet myself but like four people posted back saying it worked. who knows if its for 1.01 or 1.00 tho.. im still stuck at work.

Ok I got it. It was named, "securerom_FEAR.mov," but 7-zip extracted it just fine. The resulting file's 4748 KB. Properties show file version 1.01.0.0...

Edited: because I'm lazy...and stupid :(

the file version is 1.01.00(under file version in other information), so i think its for 1.01.... anyone still on 1.00? :D

running on patch 1.01 dont know what ver of nvidia drivers i got. how can i check that?

Okay you are in the unplayable area of FPS with the setting you have listed.

I have everything on max and don't drop below 25 FPS at all but I have to run it at 1024 x 768
Its a trade off that I like cause I still get all the niceites

ditch the AA, turn the AF down to 8x, and disable soft shadows. that should really increase playability for you, :)

you can see what drivers you are running in the advanced part of your video properties, or the video adapter section of your device manager.

Curious, do you have AA on? I'm wondering if AA + lower res would be better than higher res without AA. The jaggies just kill me!

Yeah its smooth.
I jumped the res up a few and dropped the AA and soft shadows and it ran well but it wasn't the same without all the eye candy!

So I dropped the res upped everything and its awesome!
But I would like to get higher in the res though.

the 7800 series cards do like this game more than the 6800s... that is for sure.
 
its playable as hell for me. but the FPS is low mostly 15 - 20. drops down to 10ish when there are cut scenes. iam thinking of buying this game, since its a pain to make the it work otherwise. i might turn down the AA to 8x. the game looks realllly sexy thou. super smooth graphics and all that good stuff. i might get a X2 4400+ and see if that improves gameplay a bit more.

i hear that 81.85 really helps with FEAR. is that tru?

hated the demo, luving the full gaming. but on aide note, playing it last night and my pc just turned off. the gfx was too bloody hot to thouch :eek:

granted i know you weren't asking me but...

the jaggies were driving me bat shitty at 16x12 w/o AA, im getting too spoiled i guess :D
i was playing 16x12 with the below settings except for AA, that took me from like 33/50/96 w/o AA @16x12 to 36/56/117@12x9 w 2xaa.

granted i'd love to play 16x12 w/ 2xaa but doesn't look like im going to be able to w/ my current setup. the only really crappy thing? i hate playing smaller res when my desktop is set to 16x12, the goddamn bars piss me off. so what do i do? i set my desktop to 12x9, and i feel like im looking at 640x480... damn you fear!!!! i WILL not drop another $500 on another 7800gtx, ive already dropped $2600 into my computer this year!

I can see what is needed to be seen in your screen. Usual spoiler alert would be a big SPOILER type thing and then the thumbnail after about 10 empty lines.
 
yeah - I was wondering about the screen shot key also.. DOH! I R lame. lol. I can't find any info on that anywhere in the game... or even on the VU forum..
 
the city where the explosion is taking place looks so weak.... like it should be from a game in 2000...

15-20 fps is not what i would consider playable. why would you possibly have AA set that high!? crank it way down, turn soft shadows off, set a decent resolution, and start experimenting with framerate from there. when your fps rarely drops below 30, you're good to go. 15 fps is no way to play with a nice system like that. ;)

no, i dont, its a tiny fawking screen, so i can't see wth is going on. but seeing that im only on interval 01 still, thanks for killing the game :D

If I set it to 1280 x 960 the framerate drops down below 30 at times and that just really annoys me. I cant go any higher at the moment with the old monitor. I am in the process of saving for a new one. Next item on my list.

Yes some of the pics posted can show you guns that you may not have, but a shot of a nuclear explosion kinda gives a lot more away than some cool ass gun shot.

Pics like that need to be put in their own thread with big bold "SPOILER" in the title.
