Everex XT5000T Support thread

Same here. First it was fall 2007 then Jan 08 now the website (as of yesterday) doesnt give a date.

All look to be Mini Pci. We need MiniPci E.

Would like to know what bluetooth is in the xa1526. Have you seen this everex pdf that shows a location of a bt module between the hd's and dvd burner (but what kind)
http://tinyurl.com/26z9tb
Ah, didn't know they moved up to miniPCIe. Strange about the BT there. Unexposed USB?

No Bluetooth but look at the IRQ's..........

IRQ-2.jpg

tanware,
was that for the 1526?

if it was the everex link me to the mini-pci-e wireless card you used!!!! please!!!

i mean, where can i buy it from ;) :D

edit: found some on ebay. is that the everex irq? screenshot? :D

This is the Everex XT5000T. Got it of ebay. These are appearing through regular channels, if you can't find one go on over to EBay, they are about $35 plus shipping.

i saw them at a site listed on the everex forums for about $40. so this fixes the irq sharing between the wireless and video? any idea if it works in 32bit xp? :D

Hmm, that appears to be good news. I may do this, since my wireless doesn't like to show up most of the time.

That and a solution to OC'ing the CPU would make my laptop complete. Anyone with a working OC?

Havent seen many posts about using a mini expresscard for wireless lan. I bought the dell miniexpresscard wireless bg card and it works great, and my computer hasnt had the irq freeze.. got it off ebay for 30. I know now they have the internal wireless pci card replacement, but i'm way too lazy to open it up and install all the antennas and all.

Strange but neither have I seen anyone able to OC a TL-50 or any on these Turions.

New Aetheros driver on Widows Update. Installing now.

I like living on the edge - I just killed my main rig with an SP1 install gone wrong, now playing with my wifi on my laptop.

I may be posting from my Axim next. :p

Hey this is mainly directed to PhatBX133 but if anyone else knows that'd be great,

I currently have the original BIOS that the laptop came with and my Atheros card used to go out and disappear randomly, so I disabled it and turned the wireless card switch off and ended up buying a wireless Belkin N1 ExpressCard to use instead.

I want to upgrade to the new BIOS so that my CPU load isn't high all the time. I've read that the new BIOS update to c1c causes some people to have a problem with their wireless and video displays. I was wondering if I upgraded to that BIOS, if I would get the same problem as them since I'm using an ExpressCard now or is the problem between all wireless connections and video displays.

Thanks in advance.

1. download "BIOS Windows Flash "FSC_BIOS_Windows_Flash______Winflash_AMILO_Xa152x_1_1N__1017967" link above.

2. unzip "FSC_BIOS_Windows_Flash______Winflash_AMILO_Xa152x_1_1N__101796", open that folder look for XTb70.

3. unzip that "XTB70_11N for windows x86", open xtb70 folder, find "FLASHBL>ROM" to delete it.

http://www.everex.com/support/xt5000t/xt5000t_downloads/xt5000t_downloads.htm

1. download "xt5000t c1c.zip" link above

2. unzip xt5000t c1c.zip, open xt5000t folder, find "FLASHABL.ROM"

3. copy this FLASHABL.ROM TO " xtb70 folder ".

4. in same xtb70 folder, find "winphlash" to run it.

5. make sure tick "backup bios and flash bios with new settings."

6. CLick flash bios when you are ready.

Most ppl update to c1c bios works very well.

Now you just bought expresscard should work fine after update bios.

the internal wireless card inside, you can always disabled (turn-off).

hope it help

Thanks a bunch!

That worked out perfectly.

Hey everyone.. posted here a while back but fixed most every problem i had on this laptop.. Now however it seems there is a Vista problem or a DVD drive/driver problem.. For months now I have found only one drastic method (ill explain in next para.) to stop this but it is continually recurring, and I'm worried if something happens where vista crashes it will not be able to recognize the Drive.. It shows up on my computer, the right disk ( a blank disk ) shows up when inserted, but i'm getting errors like "The logical unit is not ready, long write in process" terminating my burn when writing anything TO the disk.

Further, the disk driver is no longer responding to other cd's i put in there (game cd's, previously burned cds), though it still lights up, spins the disk... Anyone else having a similar problem // found a solution?

One solution i did find, though as i said earlier temporary ( worked once, twice..) was to go into Regedit, find a specific key which i can't remember (though ill look up again if anyones interested in that..) to force a new installation of the driver... Though, its temporary at best...

any help left on this topic?

I'm regretting having bought this laptop. All the problems i have with it are just not worth the 2-300 dollar lower price.

My screen keeps blacking out, returning, and saying nvdmk display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Ive tried different drivers, the problem persists.

Its impossible to get any work done

"nvdmk" is an odd name. Google doesn't bring anything up. I suppose it refers to nvidia something but it is odd that Google finds no reference. I may have had something like that happen once while running Google earth.

Are you using RMClock so that things are not overheating?

I have not seen another post on this error so it seems an uncommon problem, are you still under warranty?

my bad, nvlddmkm driver stopped responding is the exact response.

no im not using rmclock...but i havent oced anything i shouldnt be having any heat problems should i

nvlddmkm, sys problem is common and NOT limited to Everex.
You can try updating to the 15.01 Nvidia drivers, those are NOT the graphics drivers.
Then you can read back through this topic and find my post about hotfixes, what to turn off and asst sundries.
There is no guarantee that applying all the tweaks I posted will solve the issue, but I have had no problems since applying them.
Also it helps to keep the MS stuff updated.

Has anyone tried using the XT5000T's 4-in-1 card reader with an SD card for Readyboost? I have read that this is possible if you have both the right SD card and also the right internal card reader. I am temporarily without my SD card and so can't test it.

I had to RMA my XT5000T recently. Everex was prompt about it . . . they replaced the guts but also formatted my drive!! I wrote them that I was quite pissed about that, especially formatting D:. Why would you need to format over D?? I talked to a tech and he basically said they do a full software system restore which wipes D. Not necessary IMO.

Before anyone posts that I should have backed up before sending the machine in, I have copies of all the most important stuff, and since the problem was that the machine would not POST at all, I didn't have any opportunity to go back in and see what other "nice to haves" I could have taken off D. I suppose I could have removed the HDD and plugged it into my desktop, but I honestly was not expecting them to wipe D:. *sigh*

I can say that I did have RMClock on it, so if modifying voltages voids the warranty, no one from Everex contested the issue with me. My wife has a habit of working on the couch, and putting the laptop down on the couch on occasion which covers the intake. That could very well have fried something inside, but now we are working with a new one and trying to be better about where it gets set. I still need to put RMClock back in and get it set up.

All I can say is mine runs noticeably hotter without RMClock. I always use it. Sometimes with all my changing and fooling around RMClock startup breaks and doesn't start. I notice the increased temps right away and start 'er up.

I think I have same problem as your issues long ago.

things I did try it out few times reinstall OEM dvd, WAU DVD below.

1. install Everex Vista OEM DVD (little bloatware not bad)
2. with internal wireless inside in.
3. same problem (black screen, etc.)

4. install WAU "windows anytime upgrade" ( Clean Vanilla OS )
5. with internal wireless inside in.
6. same problem (black screen, etc.)

7. again reinstall Everex Vista OEM DVD
8. without wireless in.
9. works but still artero drivers in it.
10. in Dev Manager (TL-56) bugs still in.
11. preinstalled everex OEM dvd might be blame some issues, etc..

12. reinstall WAU "windows anytime upgrade" DVD
13. without wireless in.
14. in Dev manager show correct TL-50
15. video/wireless issues solved problem but get your own new wireless card like 4965agn prove it working well by this forum, at everex forums as well.

try first boot to safe mode then run Driver Cleaner Pro, Driver Sweeper either one, select (nvidia driver) to remove it, then run Ccleaner after then restart PC.

try install 97.48 from everex first to see if problem go away without wireless in.

Updated new version now 18.07 whql for nforce, you can use older 15.00 or 15.01

lots of people start realized now and getting new internal wireless at http://www.everexforum.com/forum/index.php?a=topic&t=6706 by TANware over there.

BTW, dunno about WIN XP PRO sorry.

well it didn't work in xp. using the intel 4965abgn card, its still sharing the same irq (20) as the video. sigh :(

The slots are HARDWIRED to share the same IRQ. There is no way around it. No matter what you put into that slot its always going to share an IRQ with the video.

so how did some of u guys in vista get it to have a irq of 5 for wireless or video etc and the other a different irq?

Vista "magic". And in the one picture I saw, the IRQ was -5, not 5. A clear indication that Vista is playing around with virtual IRQs and is not actually changing the hardware IRQs.

the funny thing in xp is, the wireless has a irq of 5 until you install the driver, at which point it shares it. meh xp :(

anyone have any tips??

temps aren't good though. if i am doing light stuff like watching videos on the laptop, cpu temp stays at 57-59, gpu at 68-69. if i let it sit there the temps rise to 75 each for gpu and cpu and the laptop starts to lock up. what did i do wrong? i did replace the gpu contact with as5 as tanware recommended and arched the cpu legs slightly up to get the suction necessary with the cpu. anyone?

did i do something wrong? i'm running orthos/prime 95. its at 12 or 13 min now, cpu is at 79c. its undervolted to .95v. let prime run for 1hour?

what i can't figure out is why at idle the laptop was locking up.

let prime run for 30 min, at .95v, seems good. took ashot a minute or so after once the temps fell. the problem is the temps climb back up and the fan doesn't kick in until then, of course that is a well known problem i guess .

here are some ok shots of the inside. i was confused because i was unsure if i should put as5 on the gpu contact so i did. also, i bent the cpu legs up some as tanware described. i guess i did it right?

Temps of 57-59 on the CPU and 68-69 on the GPU are perfectly fine. Now the part I don't understand is why the temperature climbs when the laptop is idle (that's what it sounds like you are saying). When the ACPI temp reaches ~78C (the temp listed as CPU in Everest) it should automatically throttle down to 800MHz to keep the machine cool.

I'm wondering, are you using the original BIOS or the C1.C BIOS? Cause the temps should NOT go up if the laptop is doing nothing. You either are seeing the bug in the original BIOS or have some other background task going on that's taking over when the OS registers as "idle" (perhaps a virus, indexing service, virus scanner, etc.)

And you say you're undervolting, but i don't see the icons for RMClock, so what are you using to undervolt the CPU?

It just doesn't make sense. There is a piece of the puzzle that you're leaving out or is missing.

i am using the one listed at the everex site i saw in apost, its crystalcpuid, should i use rmclock instead?

the temp is climbing because the fan isn't spinning, as the temp raises back up, the fan comes back on :)

it could be my virus scanner that is going on in the background. i doubt i have any viruses on the laptop. i am using the c1c bios and i have raid 0 enabled. when the temps rise to 75 for cpu and gpu the laptop starts to lock up. perhaps it is the wireless and video irq conflict error? or i may have to reseat the heatpipe. :(

ps while orthos was stable for 30 min, if i tried to run seti and watch a video it caused a bsod at .95v. so i upped it to 1.0v. just trying to keep these temps under control! should i reflash the bios?

i wouldn't lose my raid setup by reflashing would i?

actually everest reports my bios version as D.1C

so it is one step beyond c1c? should i flash back? would i lose my raid? would i need to reinstall windows?

BIOS (458KB): Update enables BIOS RAID feature. Revision D.1C. Beta *** WARNING - Do not install without 2 drives present in system ***

heh so i did install D.1C. i guess c1c isn't raid enabled?

If you're using RAID then yes, you have the D BIOS. Going back to C would be a bad idea; you would indeed lose everything. The D BIOS is required for RAID. I've never used Crystal CPUID for voltages, so I can't comment there.

The machine shouldn't lock up if the CPU temp gets to 78C. The thermal threshold is 95C, so the temp itself shouldn't be causing it to lock up. But 78C is the ACPI throttle threshold, where the machine will automatically lower the CPU speed to 800MHz. So I'm wondering if CPUID is somehow interfering with this process when you get to 78C and is causing the system to lock up.

I'm also wondering if you have the AMD processor driver installed. You should if you don't. Not the dual core optimizer, but the Quiet N Cool processor driver.

Now on the flip side, if you've set your voltage to .95 and you're still reaching temps of 78C under full load then something is wrong. Whatever you did to the CPU and heatpipe hasn't improved temps, but made them worse. I'm wondering why you felt the need to muck around with it in the first place? Did you replace the CPU with a faster one?

yup i sure did. installed the TL-60. the laptop was locking up before i used crystalcpuid. i think ihave the amd processor driver installed. maybe ishould reinstall it since i upgraded the cpu?? the cpu only throttled when it reached 85c. im thinking the wireless and video were what caused the lockup (like it would lock then unfreeze for a second or two then lock back up). the lockup and the throttle were 2 separate events. the temps started out at 58-59, 69 for video, then steadily climbed to 75 for gpu and cpu. then the locking up happened. maybe i should just reinstall windows?

My guess at this point, from what you're telling me, is that you might need a high wattage power brick. The new CPU is gonna draw more power, and having a RAID setup means both drives are spinning all the time, which draws more power. I'm thinking your lockups are coming because the standard brick can't supply enough power to the system under full load.

lol i am using the 180watt targus brick ;)

i also reinstalled the amd processor driver. perhaps i will just back everything up and try the c1c bios. the d1c is beta after all, and if it prevents the buildup of temperatures which was a bug in a previous bios, so be it :)

edit: no antivirus installed yet. so it must be a bug in the d1c bios that c1c fixed :(.

If you go back to the C1.C BIOS your RAID will not work. The D BIOS is the only one that supports RAID and came out after the C BIOS.

And if you're already using a better brick, then I'm out of ideas. Have you tried running these tests off the battery to see if it behaves the same way?

nope cause the battery runs it at 800mhz. the cpu did run at 1600mhz on the battery but why the new cpu won't i have no idea. i'll just backup all the data then install the new bios. i let it idle and the laptop turned off lol. :(

I just sold my Everex for $550...not to shabby for a years usage. I had to move over to an ugly duckling dell vostro 1500 because I needed more portability and batttery life. The Vostro does have an 8600gt video card and wsxga+ 15 in screen to make up for its poor looks.

I will miss the everex, quirks and all.

my wireless card is crashing the effity eff out of my laptop now :( , even on fresh installs of XP or Vista, vista is the only one that sort of can recover itself some of the time. Only way I can stop it prematurely is flicking the wireless switch I notice my mouse lagging on the screen.

does it in vista and xp, i contacted warranty dept, waiting for a responce after the email us proof of purchase. my warranty ends the 26th.

/cry

I just purchased the XT53000T and am loving it. Its fast, very nice screen and has a 8600 card in it.
