Everex XT5000T Support thread

Guys,

If you guy need Bios Flash Window for your laptop ? here is link at http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/support/downloads.html

1. download file called FSC_1012408
2. unzip file then open folder
3. look at picture below pretty much
4. run WinPhlash
5.do not flash bios called "FLASHBL.rom that mean for AMILO Xa 1526 / Xa 1527.

Now you can create backup bios for your laptop then you can find any bios editor to messed around with rom on your own risk, (look at pix whole thing)

lucky we are able get hold backup our bios in handy thanks to Fujitsu Siemens for plant easy hidden egg inside lol :D

enjoy

Can you tell us what are the benefits of the Fujitsu BIOS ???
Thanks for the find BTW.

anybody know the date when the 65nm turions will come out? And will they be compatable with this lappy?

edit: oops already out. now only thing is how do i put in this laptop?

Good News! The extended life battery for our laptops has appeared at the Everex store!

Bad News! It's also listed as sold-out!

says it's a 3 hour battery, I was hoping for a 6 hour, but it's still better than the 1.5 hours I get on the stock battery.

More bad news, exact same battery as the one supplied with laptop. Specs are identical.

think that it will be able to handle Enemy Territory Quake Wars???

kinda random...but w/e

I am still thinking of picking this up with the MaxAssurrance protection plan (for another $200+ dollars). Anyone have any comments on the extended warranty? I figure with the limited availability, heat this thing generates and scarcity of parts there are bound to be problems getting this fixed/keeping it running for all of the next 3 years. My current laptop (Dell 8600) has had several problems - dead usb ports, spotty lcd, but the warranty ran out long ago. (The good thing about the Dell is there are plenty of parts available on Ebay). I guess I have a hard time believing Officemax would be able to get this fixed in 3 years and I wonder if they really would be that willing to give out a $700 gift card. Is it me or does that seem too good to be true?

?????????????

some sources say that the TL64 is 90nm and some 65!!!???? whatevs, ill buy this laptop no matter what.

After owning it since the original hot deal, I'm finally using this notebook... and it has "pausnia" :( Every second or two it pauses a split second. For instance, moving the mouse around you can see it pause all the time. Really irritating.

Have to say thanks guys. was hedging and hawing but this thread convinced me and I just ordered mine for 699.00 from OM. I need a machine that can dual boot Vista and XP and wanted to upgrade from my Sempron 3200+ 15.4 HP DTR. :) I originally got my 6701 or 687.99 then 160.00 or a 60gig drive and 210.00 for 2 gigs of 400 mhz ram. I've hated HP for the fact the bios will only run the ram as 333Mhz. Upgraded it to Vista, and I like it, but need a XP boot now for Visual studio 2003

I also ordered 2x1Gig 667 sticks from NewEgg for 70.99, once I have everything settled I'll get a couple of 7200 rpm 1 gig drives for non-raid and dual boot. This should keep me for another 2+ years and when the price comes down I'll look into pumping up the cpu with an upgrade as well.

I'm not a gamer so I've run 2 gigs and no HD page file for a few years now. So once someone figures out how to turn off the Video to ram it should be of a help as well. The HP's Sempron cpu is 1.8 Ghz but the dual core should more than make up for the loss to 1.6 Ghz.

I went last night checking the scores on some OEM desktops at the retailers and they were not much all that better than this in the price range, some were even worse. I know the marks are only a reference but it is better than going in blind!

Thanks
Andy N.

maybe this will help, doubt the computer will choke on 2 watts increase if it supports the tl-56, since people claim though the system can shutdown if they overload the TL-50 I'd be carefull..........

tl-56
AMD Processor, Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-56 1.8GHz, 512KB L2(x2), 1600MHz FSB, 33W, Tray
(MPN: TMDTL56HAX5CT)

tl-64
AMD Processor, Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-64 2.2GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB, 35W

The other 65nm CPUs have a 31W rating, and can still offer a bump in performance (lemme find the specs).

EDIT: (found)
TL-66(2.3GHz/512KB L2 x 2/35W TDP)
TL-64(2.2GHz/512KB L2 x 2/35W TDP)
TL-60(2.0GHz/512KB L2 x2/31W TDP)
TL-58(1.9GHz/512KB L2 x2/31W TDP)
TL-56(1.8GHz/512KB L2 x2/31W TDP)
Pricing is $150-$350.

Has anyone tried looking for long-life batteries for the Fujitsu Xa 1526? I looked on their UK site, and they had 2 batteries available, with diff prices, but no info.

Does anyone have any ideas on a GPS solution that I could use for both this and my Axim X50? I have been looking at Bluetooth GPS units, but have no idea on the software. I don't want to deal with two diff software pkgs if I don't have to.

Mine should be arriving from the 'Egg in an hour or so. Preferred Acct FTW!

would all those cpu's work in this laptop? i've heard they are s1 cpus but might not work. ?

Hi,
Wow is their site s l o w ! ! ! Downloading all available files before the laptop gets here. Man am I glad I didnt wait. If it were here and I had to wait all night for the files I'd be bouncing off the walls...........

The site was slow but Such be life. May be my location or the time location but I now have all of the files.

I ordered it and the memory 11:30 pm on Tuesday and came home from work and both were delivered earlier today. All I can say is WOW, you guys way understated this computer. I am just simply amazed by the performance.

Compared to my 9+, tilting on the 10, pound HP DTR this thing is a feather weight. It is a bit wider and deeper but that is fine and to be expected. The screen is just awesome and 0 deap pixles.

So I sit here typing on the new laptop. Memory is at 2 gigs, running at 40% used, no disk swap file and the touchpad disabled.

I am really looking forward to actually seeing these 65nm parts in the retail channel !!

Word, in a few months, picking up a TL56 or TL58 for ~$100 would be a sweet upgrade, especially if I could sell the TL50 to recoupe some. If not, my brother in law has been itching for an HTPC....

What is everyone using to verify speed? CPU-Z 1.40 shows 801MHz.

What about temperatures?

Same here Boggsie, All I'm interested in is one of the TL-60's in 65nm fab and 31 watt. Anything to get this sucker in what I would call a good temp range. Heck my old Toshiba P25 lappy with a desktop P4 @ 3.4hgz runs 20 degrees cooler.

Down8 you should be showing 1600 mhz with CPU-Z. Check you power setting or make sure you do not have silentmode on. A great little program that another member mentioned is Notebook Hardware control. You might want to give it a try. On battery I could not get mine to run any faster than 800mhz, but there were a couple of members that stated to run faster than 800 on battery a power profile needed to be created. NHC should also work but I have not played with it on battery yet.

As far as temps go these suckers run hot!!!!

Having it all plugged in with power settings on 'high performance' did bring it up to 1603MHz. Thanks!

I meant what program is good for monitoring temps? :) I threw Everest on there, but am not a fan of it. Something smaller, and "tray-able" would be better. I wish MBM was still being developed.... Sitting on my desk, plugged in, w/no load @ 800MHz=66*C, @1600MHz = 72*C. I use this for a cooler when the X is on my desk.

I've noticed people talking about getting good frame rates with the XT5000t of around 40 fps on games like FEAR and HL2, I also know that those two games are graphically leaps and bounds ahead of WoW, but I can't average more than 30, and on higher frame rates i get screen tearing..

Keep in mind this on Vista, no upgrades, and on 1440x900.. Any suggestions? If I am to upgrade, i'm assuming RAM, will DDR2 667 work with stock memory or will i have to take it out? OR does anyone have suggestions on getting better framerates with less tearing? thanks sorry if its been answered before, read the first ten or so pages and couldn't find much relevant to my problems, other than that this computers been great to me, and i love the purchase (800 w/ shipping, Newegg)

Down8 NHC will monitor your temps and is in your words trayable.

I like Core Temp. Wasn't a fan of notebook hardware controller. It seemed to mess up all my power profiles too.

This one is really small and simple and has a tray icon showing each core temp

you may want to try...

1) lowering the game resolution to 1024 x 768 or so

2) get another stick of pc2 4200 or 2x pc2 5300 (the pc2 5300 (667mhz) has more bandwidth)
*** you need 2 sticks of memory to enable dual-channel mode which theoretically should increase overall memory performance by 10% - 15% or so ***

3) adjust your power setting so the cpu is always running at 1600mhz

4) try turning vsync on or off in game settings

I did end up going with CoreTemp. Not perfect, but close enough. An ideal solution would be a SideBar gadget, since I am using others that monitor WiFi strength, etc. But, I may go back to trusty MBM, with the CoreTemp plugin, which works well on my BadAxe2.

How do you tell if your ram is running in dual channel mode? Or should it do it automatically if you have two sticks in there?

I understand; temps and battery are important, too.

I'm just dumbfounded that the parts have been announced and appear to be available in some laptops, but you can't get OEM or retail CPU kits, anywhere.
