i've been reading this thread for a day now and had a question.

i have this laptop (love it so far) the screen is just remarkable! i was wondering though how you guys are verifying that your xt5000t is actually running in dual channel memory mode?

is there a program you are using? i tried sandra but after upgrading to 2gb of ddr2 it still says i'm in single channel mode.

thanks in advance for any help.

oh yeah, anyone other than the original member (guy who took apart his xt) get any overclocking to work on cpu?

thanx some more in advance.

I'd like to know that too. I haven't found any indication that I'm running in Dual or Single channel mode, although I am running two sticks of 1gb so I'm assuming the BIOS did it automatically for me.

CPU Z under the memory tab. Upper right hand side, states "Channel"

Also someone over on the Everex forum stated they tried to flash the BIOS with one of the Xa 1526/1527 BIOS and was unsuccessful. Stopped at board not supported. Someone else needs to give it a try and see if get the same error.

Andy

ok, now i see it, thanks for the cpuz headsup!

i'm in dual mode, woot!

anyon else notice when u run dxdiag it reads as 520 mb of video.

just wondering if it using the onboard and deidcated card ?

also does it do a sli type thing on games, or use the onboard for vista ?

I just ran Bios window flasher called "FSC 1010995" look screen below, no i didnt try it yet.

[Starsky]DO IT....DO IT.[/Starsky]

I'd be willing to chip a few bucks into the, "OMG, I tried to update the BIOS on my XT5000T and now it's FUBAR, so I need to send it into Everex to have it fixed!" Fund.

Which is now true for any video card under Vista, even the 8800GTX will set system RAM aside for itself (although it won't steal it unless it's really needed).

so you think going to xp will use both cards to the max ? or at least use the onboard for vista and the dedicated for games ?

It's not two separate cards. The XT5000T has one video card with 256 megs of dedicated memory, and using Nvidias "turbocache", borrows an additional 256 from the system memory. If anything I wish there was a way to disable the shared memory, since I'm sure it's hardly used, if at all, during every day operations. Even when gaming, I doubt the 7600 is fast enough to max out textures to a point they'll use a full 512mb of memory and still play at a decent frame rate.

I would also like to find a way to disable the usage of system memory by the 7600... if anyone finds a way, let us know :)

-Thanks

When is this deal going to happen again  , I had the money when the first deal took place.. spent it on a new rig.. and i missed the second deal cause I didn't have any money!

I doubt you will ever see this deal again :(. Office Max no longer carries the item, its only from TigerDirect.com now as far as I know.

FINALLY it has arrive and wat the f!@#$%**k this a beatifull machine i have been putting narutos soundtrack and this baby really rocks, i will be adding the 2gig i purshase for some hard gaming, i feel sorry for those who didnt get this deal, dont worry if they put it twice, they will put it for a third time.

hey have any of you have notice that when using cpuz the gpu says its a nvidia 6100 and not a 7600 so wats this!, so wat im using???

I think it's talking about the chipset and NOT the graphics. I don't think CPU-Z can identify graphics.

An Everex staffer posted on their forums, that they might be selling these on Newegg (for the sale price) in the near future, possibly later this month.

Backordered) If anyone is interested Provantage has a few of 7200.2 drives (120gb) these are the new drives with perpendicular recording. I do not know how they compare to the 7200.1 drives They come in 80, 100, 120, & 160gb, but only the 120 instock. http://www.provantage.com/seagate-st9120823as~7SEGH01X.htm .

Andy

It looks like all of the 7200.2s are sold out. Why don't they break open those lots of 25 and sell them individually? :)

anyone know where to buy a cheap power adapter brick for this laptop? i wanna leave one at work, one at home

about the 25 HDD lot, why dont you people on here do a group buy if you want it that bad?

i'm on my laptop waiting for a kid on my caseload to get home from school. i love my everex!!! :D

ohh... does that case allow for storing extra stuff with the Everex in there? I went with a leather briefcase instead of hardside because everything I read said 17" computers generally take up ALL the space in a 17" hard side case. If you can store mouse, power cord, etc in there I'll pick up a couple.

I look forward to reading your response!

T

Sorry I took so long to respond. Yes you can fit the Everex battery and cord and a mouse in the case, but not much of anything else. There is no room on the side so you have to place it on top of the notebook but there is enough space there. The case closes fine, no need to push down on it or anything.

I'm very happy with this purchase and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs something to carry around their laptop in. I don't use the locks and to be honest they're not exactly going to keep anyone out.

I added another 1GB A-Data 667 stick for a total of 2GB and the vista rating for RAM went to 5.4 and the performance increase is huge. You can get a corsair stick of 1GB for $25 after rebate now. Check sites like newegg.com, clubit.com, mwave.com, microcenter.com, chiefvalue.com, buy.com, etc.

3dMark06 score was a little over 2,100 which I think is pretty impressive for such an inexpensive machine. The 7600 is obviously a budget card but I play all games comfortably. I still prefer playing Counter-strike on a desktop with a CRT monitor though because I like 120hz+ refresh rate. LCDs just have too much of a blur. Even the latest 2ms ones.

Overall I love this machine and can't recommend it enough. Hopefully those of you who missed the Office Max sale will be able to pick one up from Newegg soon.

One more thing, everyone get ready for Hellgate: London it's going to be legendary! Pretty much Diablo III since most of Flagship Studios are ex-Blizzard employees that worked on Diablo II. ^^

When you added the A-Data 1GB 667, the other stick was the same speed right? Also, dual channel mode?
