EK denied HardOCP a sample since we do not put all its PR spam on our news page giving EK free advertising. So when you guys come asking for EK results, you will need to discuss that with EK.

Hello HardNews,
I see that you requested a water block sample for testing, and I see that you are getting the newsletters, but I see no EK news posted on the web page....

And we have sent out quite a few samples for far to close partners and medias, so for now, we are not sending out new samples.

BR,
Atila

Lol @ jackass EK.... I'm really waiting on the new Raystorm. Kyle snatch up a raystorm from Xspc. I bet they will give you one.

And I NEVER close an email with BR in lieu of actually typing Best Regards. Must be some lazy euro thing but in Murica that is damn unprofessional to me.

XSPC has been very generous with us in terms of communication and we are waiting on their Threadripper block now. So yes, all is good on that front. I am wanting to get this Threadripper fully "HardOCP stable" at 4GHz.

Ugh, XSPCs blocks are so ugly. There's a reason why EK is so popular.

Except they corrode and blow pumps.
But is that still true? There was a big stink about the plating flaking off, what 5 years ago? Hasn't that been corrected? Some had problems, many didn't. I haven't heard of any problems recently.

I'm sure it's fixed but man was it bad back then at least.

To be fair a lot of blocks corroded and not all came from EK. We just heard a shitload of complaints about EK cuz they held like 80% of the market at teh time. And for the record I had my share of corroded blocks and never had a pump blow.

Do you know what is unprofessional? Publicly disclosing an email that has a writing with small letters in the bottom:
This e-mail contains proprietary information which may be legally privileged. It is for the intended recipient only. If an addressing or transmission
error has misdirected this e-mail, please notify the sender by immediately replying to this mail. If you are not the intended recipient you must not use,
disclose, distribute, copy, print, or rely on this e-mail. In this case please, permanently delete this e-mail from your computer (SHIFT+DEL).

For the intended recipient only, not HardOCP forum.

Also, it is unprofessional to disclose my email address along with my signature, fortunately, I don't have telephone number there.

And you know what is also unprofessional? When someone denies you on first hand, and then come back with an offer, you reply like this:

"You told me to piss off when I asked since I did not give your company free advertising. Has something changed?"

You saw my email, nowhere did I tell someone to piss off.
Since we are disclosing emails publicly, I guess this is totally OK. :)

Screen shot is worth a thousand words. Honest question. I guess I got my answer.

And no, your "disclaimer" at the bottom of your email in no way suggests I agree to to whatever made up rules you think exist. You are a PR rep. Best start acting like one.

This is comically bad. I mean EK's stance of "no samples without posting our plugs" is one thing, but this post is just... wow. How did you get a job as a "Marketing Specialist"?!

I pressed SHIFT+DEL and tried to delete your email from the forum. It didn’t work, what do I do now? I am going to send this thread along to other websites to see if they can delete it, hold on...

Email disclaimers, with very few exceptions, aren't legally binding in the United States.

While my wife and I have EK waterblocks on our CPUs now, I think we'll be looking at alternatives when we build new computers (in the fairly distant future). In the future, EK may want to consider individuals for PR that know what the two letters stand for (maybe they currently have escapees from RTG?).

I love a good old "Kyle the Controversial" flaming pissing trolling affair!

But i love good hardware and good hardware reviews even more.

Living in Brazil i used to pay 2.5x the price after shipping and taxes. Which did not stopped me from getting a 4870X2 hours after the [H] review. that GPU could only survive the tropical heat with an EK waterblock, that costed half as much as the GPU.

So Kyle knows who makes the good hardware and asks them review material. EK should know that Kyle's reviews are essential for some buyers purchasing decisions.

So you both cut the crap and behave like businessmen: Kyle wants a sample so he can create content that will generate traffic on his website. EK needs a review to get some sales.

PS: both ou you are crazy if you think that merely announcing a waterblock launch in a 2 sentences frontpage news will generate sales or can be considered free advertising.
I do consider not sending Kyle the requested sample a sign that EK fears the tests results.

Work [H]ard. Play[H]ard.

I remembered very well that I got a sample request two months ago and I came back after a while with an offer. Some budget has opened up, and I asked is HardOCP still interested.
And I am really not interested in the history between HardOCP and EK, I just don't care. I am the new guy and I get to handle sample requests.
If some other news portal posts our news on a daily basis, they will get the advantage. If someone cannot handle how marketing works then it's his problem, not mine.
I came back with a normal, straightforward question "Is HardOCP still interested in a sample?"
The reply was, well you all saw the screenshot: "You told me to piss off..."
And the last email that I got contained:
"Your email will now be blocked from our servers. Have a nice day!"

So I guess we won't be sending any samples.
All I wanted was a decent review when we got some budget available for more samples.

You wanted a favor?
You should leave the forum before you end up tarnishing the brand you work for. Also, the "I'm the new guy, here's my cock" attitude doesn't work well here. Kyle has the biggest cock here, it's his house. Sounds like you aren't familiar with this industry, or this site. Your open admittance of not caring about the history that EK and the [H] have just further cements the fact that you have no business in your position.

F*CK EK, ever since their HANDLING of the flaking blocks. I see their customer relations are still "top notch" responding to Kyle that way

Hehe, nice. You do not make "news" you make "press releases." I am not in the business of giving free advertising. It is hard to pay the bills and editors with free advertising. Thanks for explaining the ropes in this business to me. You figured I would have learned after 20 years in the business.

What I have have learned is that bending over and spreading wide for little non-important PR reps like yourself, is a waste of my time. I would much rather buy your product second-hand from people who have already purchased. That way I make sure I am getting a "real" sample. And let's face it, this stuff you are producing is not exactly expensive in the grand scheme of things PC.

We will publish a fair review, and I will make sure that all of your quotes make it into the body of that so end users know exactly what EK is and how it operates.

Fair enough Kyle but if their product is outstanding and their warranty is good as well who cares what a PR rep says thinks or does ;) .

No company should ever have the ability to look/tak down upon its potential customer base. If they wanna hire incompetent PR people, they deserve the punishment that follows.

Expect they became more popular i.e. Plating issues from a few years ago. Blaming their customers etc

This does not seem "clumsy". This screams of arrogance, being unfamiliar with your demographic, and intentionally ignorant.

Do you think that a person from Slovenia (former Yugoslavia) knows all the ins and outs of every country habits and customs and or legal systems? If he got training that the describes his job function and is told how to operate regardless of which person/country he is addressing then you get such a response as what he did.

He already failed because were discussing him rather then the product he is trying to "sell" , but then again he also knows this another lesson learned for the new guy :) .

The best PR comes from superior products that are shown to be superior via professional accurate and trusted reviews and demonstrations. EK has nothing to worry about if [H]ardOCP has a favorable outcome on their product.

nickel EK blocks are still loosing their plating, I should know my 1080 Ti block's nickel has been dissolving into my pre-mixed alphacool coolant sense day one apparently.
20171024_184951.jpg

I'd be upset if it effected performance or i had to look at it daily but i'm sure EK's response would be its my fault for using the wrong coolant etc.
