Dragon Age II

So i am not sure where to find my DLC. I signed onto my bioware account online and input my signature edition code, but where do i find / see / load the exiled prince/black emporium DLC?

Under "Your Registered Game Content" within the profile menu. Hit "More Info" on them to download separate installers. Or you can log into the game and go to downloadable content and see if they are listed there for download and installation. I had to manually download the Black Emporium and install it that way to get it to register with the game.

Anyone else getting some choppy-ness when panning around and during some cutscenes? I get this even though I'm at 40+ fps.

Using beta driver for nvidia, rig in sig, 1920x1080, dx11, high, high res pack enabled, 2xAA, 4x AF

I tried messing around a bit just now but it was hard to tell if it was cleared up by changing anything.

Thanks, the first way (manual) worked. They werent showing up in the downloaded content area in the game menu area. Now they are.

They haven't been "countered" and if you think they have then you need to go learn something about prepositional logic.

What's being discussed is truly just personal thoughts and opinions not something provable/disprovable. Seeing as you're so wound up over people whose opinions don't align with yours I would advise taking a break from the internet and seriously rethinking your attitudes about opinions.

I would point out people bitching about a game they aren't playing and have no interest in playing have a more serious need to remove themselves from the internet.

Well damn...there's goes that logic thing again. It's a real wanker that.

Did I say it wasn't an issue?

I'm interested in less flaming more opinion without either side trying to shut the other up. It's a forum where we should be interested in discussion without flame wars.

It's time to embrace game download services and drop the ancient practice of walking into retail stores.

You retail pc game buyers are like ham radio operators.

I would have been happy to pre-order from Steam, but they didn't have the free Signature Edition upgrade if you bought it before January 11th. Amazon was at $60 dollars at that time and I caught Best Buy at $50 before it went up. Normally, I buy from Steam except when I want the special editions. At least I got lucky enough to get a limited edition copy of Shogun 2 from Amazon. Free release date shipping is a blast. Whats funny or sad depending on how you look at it, the collectors edition guide will be here today (9March2011) through Amazon Prime Two-day.

Oh my god... just this minute I went back and had a look at DX 9 mode, having spent some time playing with the game set to High in DX 11.

The terrain seems fuzzy somehow, the spells don't look nearly as good, and the lack of cloud shadows on the ground makes the world feel much less dynamic. No way am I going to back to DX 9.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, this:

I'm delighted to say that I just got Ser Issac's armor, even though I downloaded this from Direct 2 Drive. EA decided that everyone who bought Dead Space 2 should get the armor, although it was supposed to be for boxed copies only.

If you bought Dead Space 2 from Steam, or D2D, or some other digital site, and you also own Dragon Age 2, then you can still get the armor.

What you do is, contact EA Live support, and say: I'm after the Ser Issac armor for Dragon Age 2. They'll ask you for your account user name. It took me about fifteen minutes to wait for a person to live chat with me, and about five minutes for the representative to manually put the armor into my list, which happened almost instantaneously.

Okay, so maybe it's a bit silly, but I coveted that armor.

First I was going to play as a rogue, but then I thought the spells looked so cool that I would play as a mage. Now, because of the armor, I'm back to being a rogue again.

Here's the link for the armor.

I just used the email support before going to bed and when I woke up there was a code for my armor. I was happy. Live support wasn't around at 4am central so that was my only option.

I agree, but that might not be realistic. We're all damned passionate about gaming in here. That should unite us, but my experience is that it seems to divide us somehow.

I'm willing to bet though that if we were all physically in the same room we'd probably get along.

No joke. I'm serious.

I'd be hiding in a corner somewhere trying to be unnoticed.

I LOVE the game. it could be perfect , nearly, but for one thing...............

Fucking Direct X 11 is broken in this fucking sweet game. I had it lock up on me no less than 6 times over a 7 hour period. Bioware read this if you dare.

Pull your fucking heads out of your ass and quit releasing games that are not done or that are prone to locking up or crashing. If you can't make Direct x 11 work with the damn game than diasable that fucking feature asshats !!!!

Like with the Dead Space 2 thread, you asked for thoughts and opinions and then jump down the throats of those who dare to disagree with you.

If you want a Dragon Age II, EA and Bioware Masturbation Lounge, you should put that in the title.

You know I'm tempted to set-up a thread with that very title.

Take a second look at the thread so far and you'll see that there isn't conflicting information, only conflicting opinion.

There are those who have played the game some, and are starting to provide information, and there are those who haven't. So far, those who haven't are the usual suspects. They're here to tell us that Bioware is dead, that DA 2 was released unfinished, that EA loves to screw its customers, etc. etc.

Wabe, I hate to say this, but the game isn't quite finished. It's like 99% there. The Direct X 11 part of the game is not finished. Like I said I LOVE this game. Why can't Bioware release a game that's not bugged in some fucking way ? My favorite game of all time Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic was fucking awesome but for one thing ...... not quite finished. Seriuosly who the fuck do they hire to bug test their fucking games ? Lab mice ?

Had the game just randomly lock up on me 6 times over a 7 hour period. That is inexscuseable. Their response in the tech support forum ? The standard make sure drivers are up to date .. blah blah blah. I downloaded the special drivers just for the game, downloaded the Hi Res texture pack. My rig is up to date on every driver. I can play any other fucking game for hours on end with zero problems. But Bioware says restart your game ? Seriuosly ? and save often ? They must've known it was prone to lockups.

Nobody does Story better than Bioware. Now if they could just hire testers that actually test the game and report bugs.....and then actually fucking fix the bugs.

Dunno what your problem is but the game is 100% stable for me. Haven't looked at the official forums yet to see if there seems to be a widespread problem though. If its not a widespread problem then well you'll have to wait to see what they can do about it. If it is a major problem then Bioware is usually good with patching things up. I'll poke around the official forums tomorrow and maybe set up a problems and solutions thread for the game here if it seems like there are a lot of issues.

I'm the exact opposite of you. The original one was almost depressing. I had waited five long years, only to be let down by a title which felt like Baldur's Gate Light.

But no way would this be better on the console - it looks fantastic! At 2560x1440 it's sharp and clear, especially with the high res texture pack. Just my opinion, obviously, but for me, the consoles are dead. The PC is just tearing away. Anyhow, that's too bad you don't like it. Hopefully I'll like DA 2 as much as you liked the original, though I doubt it. 250 hours? Wow.

Perhaps I'm not giving it a fair shake. You reply made me stop and think for a bit. I think I was expecting something exactly like Origins, which probably set myself up for disappointment since DA2 is so different. I'll give it another shot. I really want to like. Thanks for the reply!

I have pretty much played every pc RPG since the magic candle, and sorry but this game is avg at best, and to call it an RPG would be stretch. if you liked origins, you will not automatically like DA2. I would suggest waiting until it is much cheaper and lessen the bitter aftertaste if you don't like the new consolize version. the best comparision i can think of is Gothic 2 to Arcania. maybe try to play at freinds house before you buy it.

Bought the game from Steamworks last night.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the game.

DX11 is bugged to hell, cutscenes are choppy, music flares in and out at the wrong times, 5 crashes in as many hours. Was there any QA done on this title? Totally unprofessional. The game simply isn't complete

As for the game-play, once more I am sorely disappointed. The combat is appalling, the quasi acrobatics and general speed fuelled antics are hilarious, but not in a good way. the character general is lacking, inventory is basic. The story is dull, the locations are insipid - surely Kirkwall isn't the only locale? The voice work is dire and uninvolved, sounds like some amateur dramatics school class. It's embarrassing

The game feels like it's been catered to appeal to a 13 year old with an attention deficit disorder. This game is a fucking travesty considering how good the original was.

Really really shocked Bioware took this direction with the series and sold out.

Anyone who like this game must be the aforementioned or simply have shit taste in games

Thanks for this, I was thinking about buying the game, but now I don't think I will.

Not to mention the game is 60 fucking dollars on the PC.

A spirited repost. I take it you have shit taste in games and could very well be 13 judging by reply

No and no. Its 6:36 AM and its an appropriate response to your post. I see no point in giving a reasoned mature response to a shit post like yours.

I can't believe I replied to 'Seriously dude, fuck you too'. Sounds like time for someone to go to bed.

My trolling is done. Bait taken. Thank you

I tried to sleep, couldn't Decided to get up and browse the Bioware forums and look at problems people are having with DA2 and looking at solutions. Was just watching this thread while doing so and saw your post. I tend to be blunt normally, at 6:30 in the morning much more so. I will not apologize for my words though I do not apologize for things I mean.

Play it on Hard.

In the first fifteen minutes you'll have to fight the ogre - if you follow the age old, tried and true RPG tactics, and if you level your party properly (I would go so far as to say perfectly) then you'll get through that battle... and the 20 Darkspawn that will follow.

Go in whacking away with an improperly leveled party and you will die - repeatedly.

Unlike Origins, the cool down meters for healing spells and health potions take forever to cycle through. Finally, an RPG that forces me to strategize. That Ogre battle on Hard was like a breath of fresh air. Finally an RPG that actually plays like an old school RPG.

Restart the game and play it on Hard. Trust me, you'll be glad you did. Hint: you get to level up twice before the ogre battle. Don't deviate one iota from pumping attribute points into the main attributes for your party members. Spec your Mage offensively. Watch for the ogre to charge and get your people out of the way. Spread them out across the battlefield. If your tank goes down... bye bye.

Love this game. It's actually making me think. Save files now mean something too, because (on Hard) if you level improperly then you're done.

Another thing I'm noticing on Nightmare, some of the enemies will take 4-5 health potions before dying. Those Shadow Warriors are a real pain to kill.

Can anyone using a GTX570/580 tell me their performance with the latest beta drivers? I was browsing the Guru3D forums and some people were having ridiculously low framerates with a GTX580 on DX11. Since I won't be getting the game until tomorrow, I can't test it out myself.

On the rig in my sig, very high runs like ass, it's playable, just barely. High runs great and with my eyes I really don't see a discernable difference. High runs much faster than very high.

Not going to name names but I'm chuckling at a few of the people that were hating and doubting on this thing for weeks leading up to release (animations, youtube videos, etc.) and now love this game and like it even more than part 1. As expected. Called it weeks ago. ;)

I was always undecided and doubted the direction Bioware were taking. The first game-play footage had me even more concerned, the demo left me crestfallen.

I still want to like this game and give it a second chance, I'm still wondering if there is something I have missed?

I guess that's why I keep checking back to the DA2 threads to gleam more information from posters on here I normally agree with.

I got home from work and ran the game for around 5-6 hours in dx11 with not a single crash and very smooth on high. Game has been fun. With how easy normal was in demo I wasn't expecting hard to be this hard lol. I have died more times than I can count on some of the harder fights.

After watching the review for this game I will definitely not be playing it. What a disappointment to true role playing fans.

Pretty much sums my feelings up exactly. If you guys like it, thats cool. I feel discouraged about the whole thing.

Going to hold off a bit. Being one who beat DA:O 2 times and the expansions i have been completely put off by the direction this game took and the reviews so far confirming what i thought i wouldnt like. I am sure i will play it at some point and enjoy it, but not enough at the current price level.

I am a huge fan of ME 1/2 and i understand how DA2 has been slanted in that direction, but to me this is not how this game should have been made. I dont want to play it like i play ME.

Same.

Several folks' posts are shedding a lot of light for me. I think I'm glad I didn't jump in right away.

I'm liking the fights more in DA2 than in Origins. A lot of the fights come in waves, so you'll be battling 5-10 enemies. Then as the fight progresses another wave of enemies will join in the fun. I'm also seeing more special enemies like disappearing rogues, mages, or lieutenants. Makes for more challenging combat.

I gotta be honest I wasn't that impressed by DA:O. I guess it was hyped up for some reason. I was expecting more epic battles and storyline. Very underwhelmed.

I think a lot of what I don't like about DA2 is that it puts a lot of effort into trying to be epic, and I think it's pretty hard to try to be epic without making it feel forced. I thought origins was actually put just about the right amount of effort into trying to be epic.

Just goes to show how much of a matter of preference this is when people are trying to talk about it like fact.

So.. the only locale is Kirkwall ? Only played 1h... loved the combat game looks pretty nice
Im just waiting to get my 3D Vision Kit... :)

Also, I threw together a video demonstrating Medium (the DX9 renderer) vs High vs Very High with the High Resolution Texture Pack.

It's at the same location as the pictures a few pages ago, but hopefully the video will give you a slightly better idea at how it looks in motion, and not just on two large screen shots. (I just dread that YouTube will compress the **** out of it).

I look like a genius for not joining the rest of the sheeple in buying this game, LOL.

I knew it wouldn't launch well. When a game requires a Day One patch, that's NEVER a good sign, it just screams rushed and incomplete.

That proves why Blizzard and Valve make the best games.

It is done, when it's done, not a moment before.

I would have to say EA had something to do with the product being rushed and not Bioware which is sad really. Still looking forward to playing the game I had received it last night installed and activated but did not start it just yet I will this weekend, been busy playing RIFT :)
