You don't know when your pets have died? There is a pretty big area at the top left that shows your pets...

its not fullproof. For Example the WD fetishes there is no counter for how many you have
Blizzard servers are always down on Tuesdays.
If this game had sp it would turn into hacker paradise, the likes of which we've seen with Torchlight 1 and 2, and also Diablo 3 on consoles.
Why would I care as I want to play the game in single player. Why can't we have single player only characters and online only characters?
Dood, quiet down, the fan boys will come out to shun you for saying anything negative about the Bliz maintenance Tuesday. I know it is 2014 and they have had plenty of time and resources to change how they do things, but come on man, you gonna agitate the swarm. "Servers need maintenance yo!" and all that....
I'm sure some people would love to play WoW as single player. Doesn't mean it's ever gonna happen. Why would I care as I want to play the game in single player. Why can't we have single player only characters and online only characters?
Now that everyone is through listing their assumptions, yes piracy is a small reason why this decision was made.
The main reason that drove the decision was to prevent hacks/bots/dupes on Diablo 3. The aforementioned was arguably the #1 complaint about Diablo 2, and Blizzard set out, from square one, to fix that complaint. The first, and probably largest step to securing the servers from these issues was by hiding the server architecture.
Diablo is a client/server based game, like many games today, where a client interfaces with a server to receive the information that it needs for the content of the game. In order to create an offline functionality, they'd have to reproduce, 1-to-1, their server architecture in the game's install files, essentially handing over the blueprints to their security systems to all of the hackers in the world. Obviously, given this information, it would only be a matter of time before the hackers broke the securities and, once again, flooded the land of Sanctuary with duplicated items, hacked items, and spam bots/run bots/mf bots.
All that being said, I hope you and anyone else reading this can see that Online-Only is a good decision, and is not designed as some underhanded scheme to make the paying customers suffer.
Back in 2003 I made a few thousand dollars selling duped SoJ's on eBay, using a method we partly discovered through the single player source files.See, that didn't take long, what 2 minutes. Ignore the fact that there are online only games that never go down, except for major content/expansion updates. I recall one that I played, which came out like a month before WoW, that didn't go down even for patches for almost a year. But I know, now you will get the obligatory, "but they don't have 6 million players" stuff. I have played many online only games that do not go down regularly or as unexpectedly as most Bliz stuff. But again, we have been through all this. I know I'm a dumbass for not understanding why the Tuesday maintenance needs to happen for every single title they have. You fan boys don't need to continue sending PM's about my mother and such...
Those crash, and they're only a fraction as popular as Blizzard's servers are.Ignore the fact that there are online only games that never go down

Again, I don't want to devolve the thread, you guys are right, I'm wrong and a dumbass. I don't know shit about server maintenance. EQ2 goes down every Tuesday too. I'm sorry for bringing it up. Just put my noob ass on ignore or something because questioning anyone/anything is just wrong and proves how stupid I am. Apologies all around.
EQ2's userbase isnt anywhere near the magnitude and i have seen EQ2 servers crash for longer periods of time than Blizz's maintenance
They do it Tuesday morning because it's the least active time of the week.Ahh the old Blizzard patch tuesday discussion. I'm sure it's been brought up at least a few times in this colossus of a thread.
I always thought it was retarded myself. They should have separate clusters that they bring live when they want to do maintenance. Just have a 30 minute down-time while you swap them over. Work on your off-line cluster all you want, then swap them out and work on the other bunch. But it all comes down to money so if they can save a bunch of money and just tell all their loyal fans that they have to deal with not playing a blizz game on Tuesday, so be it. They know they have loyal fans and that they can save more money by skimping on server stuff vs a few people they upset, who just happen to have already bought the games before getting upset about downtime lol
D3's server are far more stable then the League of Legends servers. Shit crashes all the time.
Oh wow what a lot of crying. Back in the day WoW would go down on Tuesday and not come back up til.. Thursday or so.
Also when I was raiding 6 nights a week Tuesdays were a good time to do RL stuff like grocery shopping.
Monster density seems to be on par with the PC version of the game
been able to bring us the enemy density of the PC version this time.
The monster density will hopefully increase to that of the pc version as well.
without any performance issues, given the increased enemy density.
So it looks like the PS4/XBO UEE version still has reduced enemy count.
Also players get reduced pets too. WD only gets 2 zombie dogs (3 on PC).
The reviews I watched (cough IGN cough) claimed UEE matched PC enemy density -- FALSE!
Yet another reason why always-online is a good idea. Less load client-side.
Blizzard telling your client where monsters are located isn't the same as performing AI calculations which (I assume) is done server-side.Has nothing to do with less client side load.. the computer still has to process it.

But I have no idea what is being done by the client vs server.
Just a thought.
Also the next-gen consoles have the CPU equivalent of a Core 2 Duo so that explains the mob density.
Fill the screen with a bunch of rift mobs and WD pets and your fps will tank.
I regularly drop to 10-15fps.
Google results told me to lower sound channels, which helped a bit. Maybe a dedicated sound card would help.
Should be noted, I played on non-pet DH and Wiz for about 200 hours with no drops and that was a Q6600 + HD5870 in 2012.
So whatever it is, it's almost certainly a pet issue with WD.
