Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Got some more work to do, plus just noticed one of my passive skills is set to holy damage when I deal mainly fire damage now. So I still got a bit of work to go.

The topaz in your helm is essentially worthless, I'd replace it for life% or CDR (probably this since you're using Vengeance and RoV). Magic find in RoS (at level 70) only applies 10% to legendary and set items, that means that topaz is only giving you 3.9% to the items that matter.

Shaggy has set up the build with Steady Aim, Sharpshooter, and Singled Out plus Vault to move. And +31% lightning damage. So that changes true DPS while playing and depends on which targets exist, then the dex will combine with passive ability crit and 20% with Steady Aim.

He also has 2 sets going that aren't calculated into his damage on his profile

...so does RoS actually resolve the story? I just beat the game and nobody decided to explain what happens to Adria or Leah.

Apparently the + modifiers for WD haunt and locust swarm were not working... Oh my, even more DoT love...

What don't you know about Leah? Just like the hero from the original Diablo, she turns into Diablo, you kill Diablo. She's dead, Jim.

Yeah those have been broken since 2.0.5. Unfortunately I found that out *after* I wasted millions of gold to get +Haunt on a Jade chest :( Then I wasted even more gold to get a useful defensive stat on it instead of broken Haunt damage.

Now I just need another Jade chest, I can't afford to reroll the once I am using again.

Here are the official 2.0.5a notes. Big changes to crafting and set drop weighting!

Cliff notes version...

We made crafting way easier so nobody has to actually work for it any more, threw Monk a couple of little bones but they still suck, and we fixed DoT Docs (yay, your Jade sets are worth something again!).

Wow I guess that frees up some bank slots for me. I have multiples of damn never every rare crafting item.

I made 8M and freed up about 32 slots in my stash! 3M alone in Adventurer's Journals, lol.

At first I thought the legendary mats were a nice use for the purple mobs, but then it turned out to be RNG on top of RNG (rare spawn rate on rare drop rate) and it became tedious to farm the mats. THEN you realize that your crafts are all "5/6 random properties" and it becomes RNG on RNG on RNG, so even if you spend the time actually finding the rare enemy, running it multiple times hoping for a drop, and finally crafting the item, you can still get utter unusable trash for your efforts which is just asinine design.

There's enough RNG and mats already involved in just rolling the items so I'm happy with this change. Hopefully they find another use for the purple mobs in 2.1.

Those crafting changes seem like a punch to the face, in all honesty. I would have rather them remove the Souls requirement and left unique material requirement in. I have a lot of materials I have been stockpiling that are now useless because I still do not get a lot of legendaries dropping even after the drop rate increase, let alone legendaries that are useless and salvage-worthy.

How does that change your situation then? If your problem was getting the souls then you couldn't even use your stockpiled legendary mats anyway, and they'd be sitting in your stash taking up space. Now you gain gold (50K gold each) and stash space, plus you won't have to go farm for the mats again once the BS gives you your "legendary" weapon with vit, resource cost reduction, LoH, and no socket.

Don't mind the crafting changes. Guess I can actually get some better Augchild's now. It wasn't terrible looking for the mat when you would get the Feklar or Hawthorne bounty every 5 or 6 games started, but would get really frustrating to open 25 in a row before finally getting one and then having the boss not drop the mat.

Got my Tal-Rasha tri-elemental build mostly together now, running 3 pieces of Tal-Rasha, 2 of Augchilds, SoJ, Triumverate). So much more fun than when I was pure arcane disentegrate (right click beam, rinse and repeat). Really only two things left to find, a Gesture of Orpheus to crank my arcane bonus up to 95%, then I can drop disintegrate (using Slorak) for starpact meteors (which will syngergize better with Tal-Rasha set bonus), and be able to pin with black hole all the time. Or maybe I'll finally coax Vyr's gloves to complete that set... wonder if I could get away with:

Left: Star pact meteor
Right: Black Hole: Spellsteal
1: Magic Weapon (lightning or arcane, probably arcane for T6 and proc the lightning with supermassive black hole)
2: Energy Armor
3: Familar (fire)
4: Archon (arcane)

True, but in my case getting the mats was more reliable, considering I have gone several nights in a row doing rifts and bounties while literally getting no legendaries at all. I don't have a lot of time to just go mindlessly farming for legendaries hours on end. For the mats I could just manipulate the elite to pop and kill it with a relatively high chance of getting the mat.

I assume you mean no useful legendaries?

For me, the constant opening and closing of games looking for mats solo was pretty chore like, despite the high chance of success once you actually got the bounty you were looking for. Really for Augchilds bracers it was easier to get mats then get 120 blue dust.

The 'Mindless Legendary Farming' is kinda the core gameplay. As you get closer to ideal gear for your build the useful drops are going to get furthur and furthur apart. I'm quite content to gather other gear to try other builds, or get that chance at a better rolled version of what I'm already using.

The HOCP group seems to be dwindling a bit, saw a couple people leave on the weekend. Getting harder to fill out a group on weekday evenings, but think the anniversary week burned some people out.

All legendaries. One night I hopped on to do some bounties and I got a leg dropping about every 3 minutes for 20 minutes. Ever since then I have basically been getting nothing but recipes I do not have yet for the past couple of weeks every other day or so.

I don't know... It's just frustrating sitting at the gear wall. I have decent DPS on my Barbarian now, but barely enough toughness to do Torment II. I'm just really working on leveling other classes now.

Well that is definitely true for me. I have almost all of the WD gear aside from a ring and a Starmetal Kukri. I am basically playing now for better rolled items that I already have. Trying to level another character and it just bores me to tears, however I try to play it every few days until it gets to 70.

I get what you mean, but the legendary mats by themselves were utterly useless unless you had Forgotten Souls and a desire to actually craft the corresponding legendary items. They were also some of the most aggravating things to find so I don't see how you could call them "reliable".

I don't buy "several nights in a row doing bounties and rifts while literally getting no legendaries at all", by the way, unless maybe you're playing a very small amount of time each night and then logging out...streaks can be both good and bad but they're never that bad. Plus there's the whole "safety net" thing for players who start going many hours without finding a legendary.

I've certainly had poor streaks, 2 or 3 rifts in a row with seemingly no drops and no souls from the RG. But there was usually at least one insta-salvage piece in there that didn't even register.

Then I had an almost unbelievable surge over a few hours on Saturday, Tal-Rasha belt, Vyr boots, arcane SoJ, Mirrorball, weird blowing in the breeze toilet paper monk shoulders. (apparently they are called Mantle of the Upside-Down Sinners)

Now it's a few less bounties I will no longer do anymore thanks to this change.

When my three exp earning bounties weren't around I would do my secondary which included matriarchs bones and the one in festering woods.

seems i find the same 5 or 6 items over and over, went from 100-300 paragon with no more set pieces for the Crusader, been 4/6 since 100, been farming t3 bounties for caches like crazy for the ring too to reduce set items needed for the bonus, no luck there ...wish theyd put the ring into rifts or kaladra, i do bounties solo to make them fast and its kinda boring

That's my problem as well, I got very burned out looking for another Akkan set item, I only have 1 item (gloves) and nothing else. Its very disappointing.

I have gambled over 3000 shards now in helms alone and got only ONE legendary item in that and nothing else and it was a crap leg.

I too am getting bored as I have been spending so much time looking for just one more set item that I am losing interest now. They need to bring back full trading like in Diablo 2.

they added the set items to Kaladra this week so that might help some, now im debating is it faster to rift and gamble and go for 6/6 and skip the ring or keep with the bounties and try got the ring and 5/6

then you can also use another 2/3 set of your choice, the 3pc for ashera is nice
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Putz-1218/hero/44453533

on the bright side i have like 400 rift fragments to burn up

i have 4/6 akkan but the 4pc is useless, i dont even use wrath with that build for anything

edit: looks like falling sword uses some... but with the CD i guess i never noticed

You guys worrying about full sets, lol.

I can't even find an SoJ or RROG.

As for the crafting changes, I don't get people. Running Magda over and over and having the souls only to get shitty rolls was fun?

Turning over games to get bounties to spawn for the same result of crappy rolls was fun?

These are welcome changes in my book.

not really worried about full sets, prefer 5/6 with rrog but no rrog to be found

crusader kinda sucks without the 6 pc bonus beyond t4

Well I've done some more rifting the past couple of nights solo and I am now averaging 3 legs per rift on T1, so I'll stop my bitching now ;). Two of the drops were pieces for Might of the Earth, so I can't complain.

That is way slower than doing T2 split bounties. Each person works on their own bounty in the same group, when people finish they join other people's bounties and help them finish. You get a Cache every 6 minutes or so with an average group.

true if you can find people who are playing and not picking their nose afk in town

true if you can find people who are playing and not picking their nose afk in town

Join "Bounty Runz" community. Almost everyone in there is fast and knows what do to. No one dinks around in town, and if they do they usually get kicked. People burn through bounties, get their cache, then people leave the game so the leader can reset the bounties.

started doing that last night, got a few rings, none of the one i wanted lol i dont get why people do normal over t1, the difficulty isnt much more or muc longer plus a change at set items
