Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I notice there must be a growing amount of fiery brimstones in everyone's inventory now, but does anyone actually have a recipe to use them for?

Just sell it for how much the going rate is on AH, that is the best bet. It is not really worth the time money or plans just to create something based on what the AH is going for. Better get rid of it for some sucker

so 600 hours in or so messing around on MP0 ACTIII - i finally get a decent drop - was 10k more dps than on my current 300m amulet - anyone care to guess on possible value :) :D
I43nQ.jpg

what was your 300m ammy?

think it had 85% CHD and 8.5% CHC - i'll check when i get home :) OK so i realized i had this on barb and grabbed a screenshot of it from D3 site.

pretty good ammy.

Just started playing Barb(like level 27 now, got my xp farming set on)...LOL is all I have to say. Whirlwind = lulz.

yeah it is quite hilarious - my barb has kills twice the number elite packs compared to the same time on my wiz - so slightly OP :) although i always have a nagging suspicion i might leave some loot behind while whirl-winding through !

Some guy just hit the jackpot in trade chat. Almost perfect trifecta with 100+ main stat

Ammy
150+ int
10 CC
100 CritD
7IAS
40Gold find

Looking at it gave me a 35k dps upgrade on my char, the guy that found it said it was a 46k dps upgrade. I told him to sell it and cash out with that money. Regardless of how much dps you can get, that kind of gold (in the billions) could trade out for probably around one thousand dollars.

Yeah something that good I would cash out. If Blizz comes out tomorrow and says the next patch will have level 63 rare rings and amulets the value will be instantly cut in half. And boom, your out $500 or so dollars.

Ummm, rings and ammys are already level 63 if you're in A3, or MP1+.

No.

I haven't had a lvl 63 ring/amulet drop in ages. I farm A3 with pubs and A1 with MP1 or 2 by myself.

It's true that actual ilvl 63 rings dont drop (and never have), but all items roll with affixes based on the monster level now. This means that as long as MP1 or higher is on, all rings and amulets 60,61,62 will roll affixes like they were 63. Note: 63 affix rolls can still be crap or low ranges, but 63 affixes means a higher max range.

10 critc and 100crit damage was not possible on amulets before this change, these tiers of ranges are not reachable with ilvl 62 affixes. When it comes to trinkets, since there's no base stat (such as armor or weapon damage) its easier to quote them as 63 because its all based on the affixes.

Found my next upgrade. A tal rasha's ammy with crit goes for 50-70mil, nets me around a 20-22k dps upgrade. With the high int and vit, almost all of them would net a green with health, dps, protection

After that, I really wouldnt know what to upgrade without losing HP or protection. My rare ring is the best bet, but I'm not sure what to look for.

Its funny that people still dont know how this stuff works after the patch has been out for over a month. Does this mean you've been ignoring lower level jewelry?

Its easy to know what to look for. Average damage and trifecta. Main stat and vit can be bonuses. Affording it is a whole other story lol.

Heh, I guess if I set another 60m budget for my ring I can find a nifty dps upgrade with more life and armor. But after that, FOR REALZ, I'm done upgrading my wiz. :)

yeah i'm leaving my CM wiz at 100k dps for now - 2.78 AS and pretty much perma freeze mobs. Working on my barb for now currently 70k dps, paragon leveling is way quicker on barb.

Well YA! CM wizzes are horrible for farming, but great for ubers.

What type of wiz build is good for farming?

i've been working on my CM/meteor wiz for so long, i can't imagine speccing anything else lol

I tried my old arcane spec once, holy cow did it suck lol

The thing is, meteor is just amazing imo because it doesn't require line of sight.

Archon, as long as your kill speed is fast enough to keep it up for minutes at a time. You stop, beam across a room and clear in 2 seconds, then move on. If I can get a bit more dps I can drop improved archon in mp4, and teleport for faster clear time.

yeah I've switched to arcon with same gear on mp0 alkaizer plvl runs - works great except for RD packs then i sometimes just kill myself - can't be bother to get any life steal weapon and stack some more resist. Just running around with tyraels might to get MS up to 24 and extra dmg against demons and elites and it works pretty well. Alot faster than cm spec (which i use to refresh archon if it runs out).

Run seems to drop 1-3 legendary's quite often - currently plvl 46 on wiz and 28 on barb and only stacking magic find on follower.

The price of fiery brimstone went up from around 10k to 100k. They've dropped down to 75k right now. If you want to make money, it's time to unload. News hit that Blizzard may introduce new recipes in the future.

So i decided to actually start up uber farming. I hate act 2, it doesnt work with my build very well (archon glass cannon). So i die alot, and so far I've gotten one key (I want to farm in 3 sets of 3, so I'm actually going for 9 keys each).

However, this drops off an elite that was giving me trouble, makes the time i spend in act 2 worthwhile (MP4).

I considered keeping it for a hat trick upgrade (my current is on the left), but I think the money would be better spent on a nice crit combo tal ammy and maybe even a new ring. It's hard finding a price on it, 9/9 IAS, 49/50 critd, int,vit and 39 resall. I'm gonna start at 70 and see where it goes.

Edit: now i feel the pain of trying to search by unique legendary stats (in this case i'm trying to find 9IAS 45+ CD with the other stats)

That's good to hear, though their message was really vague lol. I'd like to see them improve the value of commodity items in general. Make them tempting enough so that players will either want to use them themselves, or want to sell them for a decent profit. It would give people a renewable way to maintain a steady income (that's better than vendoring rares and picking gold off the ground) as well as getting gold out of the economy with AH cuts. Right now, their gold sink is in crafting fees, which really puts me off. I bet most people don't even bother, and I bet that many who did (by investing millions for a long term profit) don't even bother either anymore.

I know this is a very VERY extreme example but, it can show both the gameplay behind archon farming and it also shows that it can be done at ANY MP level. Obvioulsy farming at a lower MP level would be much faster and thats kind of the point to be able to mow down monsters fast enough to where you can keep archon up. I personally feel that archon should be able to move while casting their beams. I think that would be a nice buff to the spell/class

Where did they say something about new recipes?

Blue post in a thread about Hellfire Rings salvaging into random organs.

We've definitely discussed the possibility of allowing Hellfire Rings to salvage into component pieces, and have debated your feedback quite heavily as a part of that process. While we understand why players would like Hellfire Rings to salvage into demonic organs (or even Keywarden keys), we don't think that's the right way to go right now since it would essentially let you skip some encounters completely. It's something we may revisit in the future, though, once the event has been around for a longer period of time.

We do agree with you, however, that the rings should be able to salvage into Brimstones, in addition to Magic and Rare crafting materials. The reason we didn't go with Brimstones originally was that we wanted to avoid the situation where you could always get that particular mat from a single item, over and over. The idea doesn't really sync up with our design philosophy, and the market is pretty saturated with Brimstones as-is. Even so, we know that it can feel cheap to not have a chance to get a Legendary material from a Legendary item, and we don't feel like our original reasons continue to hold up in light of the feedback you've provided us.

Since I know this will get brought up: We're also exploring ways to improve the worth of Brimstones, as well as crafting in general. We feel like the system itself could use some revamping, but we're not yet at a point where we can discuss what kind of changes we're considering. We haven't ruled out the possibility of introducing new recipes at some point in the future, though, or introducing other ways for players to put their crafting materials to good use.

Excellent. I've always really wanted to like the crafting experience in D3. However, it hasn't held up. If I could craft my way into epic gear, I would do it, even if it was more expensive (to a point, not the point it is currently at, nor anywhere near that level). I really enjoy the idea of crafting. : )

My feelings exactly. I want to craft, but it's just not worth it When you can get more rolls and not have to pay the fee by just killing shit.

Agreed. Whats great about that philospophy is that it can be a predictable type of reward/progression. Meaning I put in x hours/effort in and I get y loot/gear out.

Unfortunately this has never been the case with this stingy rng system. You could play for 1000 hours and never get what you want. Its pretty much a lottery system now which is kind of a huge tease.

This was always a possibility considering how godawful most of the legendary crafted items are compared to their cost - there is nowhere to go but up, really. Funny that merely mentioning it caused a run on Brimstones, considering they've been ultra cheap for a while now and there is not going to be a shortage with all the junk legendaries people find. I think I've got about 30 in my stash from my own findings. I'm curious if something like, say, Frostburns is still going for about 15K, because you could buy 'em up and just salvage for a quick profit.

lol that's a good idea.

Really, it'd be nice to know that the shittiest legendary is still worth 100k because of the brimstone.

I'm guessing this could be a 1b+ sale....but that's just me. You lucky bastard.:D

I tried this a while ago. before 1.5 and it didnt work. Unless you picked up the legendary while farming I was never able to destory an AH legendary for a brimstone. I was poor and needed gold. heh.

Only ilevel 60 or above legendaries guarantee a brimstone on salvage. Might even be 61. I forget.
