Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Yeah I get it now, I looked through 46 pages of HoC with vit+socket and I am not convinced that it's the right thing to do to buy a cheap one.

My current helm is:
341 Armor
111 STR
66 VIT
19 Resist All
16% MF

Doubling the armor, raising VIT slightly, raising Resist some, and adding 8% block will cost me at least 1k dps (by removing STR) and it will cost me the 16% MF. But maybe the 8% block is worth it. Just don't know.

Yeah this is what I said back to your first post. In your case I wouldn't "really" call that an upgrade. Almost like a lateral move. I would bide your time and wait to get one that that will be more of an upgrade, like one that has str, vit, and even a soc or cc.

8% block is good. Get some crit % and you're golden.

You make it sound so easy. Show me a HoC with a main stat, vit, 8% block and cc for the price that we've been talking about. That's kind of like saying, dude, just spend 300M on your barb and you're golden!!

Just got a Legendary and it was some shitty 2 hand ax that sucked worse than the stuff I got on ACT 2 or so on Normal

Not sure if the prices haev gone up but I've seen str/vit/cc with a socket for like 1-5mil if you were patient.

Now dex/vit/cc/right OWE resist/socket is near impossible at a reasonable price :(

For people that have been successful at selling stuff with BOTH AHs, where do you feel items sell better, in the GAH or RMAH?

And when I mean successful at selling stuff, I'm not talking about an item here and there. I'm talking about the people that move or have moved a decent quantity that would have the experience needed to answer this question appropriately.

I'm curious because I have finally found a trophy-ish worthy item and I'm debating on selling in order to gear up with multiple items rather than just having 1 really awesome piece and the rest just so so.

Well, spend 300M on your barb and you will be golden! I was more implying I wouldn't buy the HoC at the regular prices. I'd get a good crit helm instead.

It depends on what you want out of the same really.

I find that it is easy to sell stuff on the RMAH if you price the item below the gold exchange rate.

So if you can buy 1M gold on the AH for say $3, and the item you have lists for 30M on the Gold AH, then the RMAH price of that item would be 30*3 = $90, as folks could just buy gold and then buy the item on the Gold AH.

If I had an item like that I would post it for $49.99 on the RMAH and be done with it. It's irrelevant to me that it may be "worth" $90 because if it is just sitting in my inventory it is worth $0 to me. I'd rather have $49.99 - tax today than say $80 (if I were to list it at that) at some future date when someone finally decides fork out that much.

RMAH sales work well if you essentially underprice your items because you want cash.

The AH in general only works well if you underprice period because the 10 slot limit is a real PITA. I cannot afford to have an item clog up 1 slot for 36 hours and not sell. I gain items at a much higher rate so I need to keep my AH slots readily available.

Maybe my perception is skewed but that is still a lot of gold to me. I've pretty much have played D3 as vanilla as it gets and I'm just under 10M. I would love to fork out 5M on a sweet helm, but that's half my gold for one item. Also it doesn't help that I have 4 lvl 60s that I'm slowly trying to gear up at the same time. :(

I know it's slow and probably not very effective but that may be the last thing that is keeping my attention in D3. One night I'll play with my barb and the next my DH and so on...

Why are they not buffed yet? What are the devs doing? (do they have a dev blog you can follow or something?)

I'm presuming 1.0.4 should start addressing things. But I have a feeling we won't see a full breadth of this addressed really until the PvP patch.

Yea i just don't understand what takes them so long to fix core parts of the game. Instead they add 'features' to the friends list so i can see what game my friends are playing (because they're not playing d3 lol)

edit: their priorities are fucked up.

Haha anyone who plays SC2 saw this first hand. Just search for the rock vs. BNet2.0 image when Blizzard happily announced FB integration.

That's what often happens when I find a legendary.

The good thing is it sold within like 5 minutes...I only put it up for 3,000, I didn't think it was worth even half of that though :D

I put up a few things in the RMAH, but I don't think they will sell. Also, if let's say I would sell something and I put it into the Blizzard money thing(the other option, not Paypal) can I get that transferred to my bank or is that stuck just for Blizzard games?

And lol, blizzard fails a little bit. I couldn't trade in-game or add friends...reset password and now it all works..

well awesome, just got this game free from blizzard i guess. Phoned them up and convinced them to cancel my wow annual pass as I cant have another monthly payment right now. They agreed and said they removed my CC off the acount and when my time expires all the perks will be removed and the annual pass will be revoked. Just checked and time ran out 2 days ago, but still have diablo 3 and my MOP beta even though my wow account is now frozen, sweet lol.

I don't get it. There is no monthly charge for Diablo so once you bought the game it doesn't matter as to whether you have the annual pass or not.

He never bought it, got it for free for doing an annual pass. He can't afford the annual pass so he's having them remove and so then blizz should've removed diablo 3 also, but they didn't.

Seriously? This is the second time Diablo had the shittiest drops. I thought on Nightmare he would at least have a yellow, but nope 3 extremely shitty blues. God this game really doesn't reward you for surviving and killing shit.

I know they didn't want you to farm the bosses, but why even bother with bosses if all they do is drop shit.

I finally uninstalled last night.

I did get a couple hundred hours out of it, so definitely got my money's worth.

It was more of a burden than enjoyable though. I was relieved when my last HC died and I could quit.

The wizard bug was all that I needed to uninstall this game, beating Diablo in Inferno, even with bug abusing, gave me closure.

I was hooked like a crack addict until I beat Diablo twice in Inferno mode. I then kinda farmed around for a couple of days and suddenly I was like, what the fuck is the point now? I haven't played in a week now and I wish it had something else to it. Such a let down after there was nothing else to accomplish.

It sold fast because you can salvage it to get a fiery brimstone and sell that for 125k ;)

I dont understand this mindset. I totally get that people think this game is utter shit and they hate the game, and there is much to shit on about this game. I get that, but why would you care about playing the game or any of its achievements if you hate it so much?

It's like realizing the person you're engaged to has been cheating on you the entire time, but following through with the marriage because you've already come so far and you want to see it to the end, hoping there will be something different.

People should be well aware of what the game is like before 50 hours of playing the game. Playing it, and getting tired of it is one thing, I'm quickly reaching that point, but continuing to play for another 50 hours and it being a chore more than fun is another.

For some odd reason, people these days get sucked into games without enjoyment being the reason. It's a similar case to those who've quit WoW. It's as if they've reached some kind of epiphany one day and "de-hypnotized" themselves, then they go brag about it as some kind of accomplishment, calling the others sheep for not realizing what they realized.

When I start something I want to see it to the end. I don't take no for an answer in real life and this mindset carries over to when I want to enjoy myself. So even after the point where I just don't want to login, I'll come back for more especially when there are lots of people saying that they are seeing the silver lining. So I'll trudge along for fear of missing out on something cool that will "make the game".

I love this genre, but obviously I think that D3 is rubbish in many regards that I won't regurgitate. Funny thing is that with less than 10 changes I'd probably play it for the next 10 years like Ultima or Baldur's Gate. That's what really gets my ire about D3; my vision of what's fun butting heads against what the developer's ideas are.

But hey it was just $60 so who cares. I'm approaching 500 games in my Steam library so I've seen my share of DOA games. Just hate seeing one from Blizzard as I respected them for many years even after I got burned out on WoW.

Oh and I also respect you'll that think D3 is fun as I do also in many ways. Just the bad overshadows the good in my eyes so much to the point of making it bland and a snore fest.

Think I'm going to stop playing until new content. Simply because I want the game to be a little more fresh for the new content.

485 hours total game play.

I give it 872/1000. With the majority of flaws not being core game play related; Auction House, Item Randomization, lag, Rubber banding, no Multi monitor support, Aspect Ratio/ FOV too close and fixed, Some what lazy map designs, lazy story telling.....

If I compared it to Diablo 2 at launch I'd say they are pretty close to equal. Diablo 2 grew in quality over time........I hope diablo 3 will as well....only time will tell.

You will be missed sorely, my dear. It was fun while you lasted but I think it's time that we parted ways.

90 hours played and all I have to show for it is an entry into the Hall of Fallen Heroes.

Before the 1.03 patch (and my hardcore days), the game would freeze on me every five or so hours of play. I figured this issue had gone away since I hadn't seen it in last month, but it happened me today.

After clearing A2 for about the second time since I took down Belial the other day, I started over from the beginning of the act. On my third NV stack, I found a goblin pack that had shielding. In engaging them, I accidentally engaged a second elite pack (those big dudes with the axe). My gear overpowers most elites, but if I have to take two packs at once, I have to kite. After taking down one of the beserkers, the game froze on me. No response. I killed D3 with the Task Manager and found my character dead after a minute.

By creating a hardcore character, I accepted the fact that I was going to die some day. It's basically inevitable. I guessed that it would be a horrible lag spike, never considered that a computer freeze would be the reason. It's just too bad that in the Hall of Fallen Heroes, it simply states "Sand Wasp" as the monster I died to. Though I do have some regrets about not pushing a3 progression, I didn't think I was ready as I had to bail on the first pack I ran across.

No regrets though, it was a blast. 30 million gold worth of hardcore gear does sting a bit though.

Maybe I can actually get some sun now.

I had over 100m in gear on my last barb. EASILY capable of clearing the game. 950ar, 11k armor, 16k dps, and 77k hp with a base MF of 85.

Died in MF gear doing goblins in act 2 LOL

I know its not much of a defense and it shouldn't be but are you really looking for drops in nightmare. This game follows many rpgs where the game doesn't "really" start until you're lvl 60. Kind of dumb, I know, but since you level so fast thats pretty much the way it works out. Another by product of being solely gear dependent and no skill points.

My only answer to this is that from Day 1 its just been the trendy thing to do. Finding new and creative ways to take that proverbial dump on Jay Wilsons face and on Blizz as a whole. I mean seriously, how many posts have you read where people find the need to say, "I'm uninstalling....at least until blah blah blah" For one, why the need to broadcast that? Do they do that with every single game? Well today I'm uninstalling Portal guys. RIP
And second, if the game sucks so bad, why come back to it at all.

Not to pick on you so dont get all defensive but its just really funny all the posts I've read about HC chars dieing and I swear 99% of them died to lag or some technical problem outside of their control. Now I'm not calling you a liar and I guess I have no reason to not believe people, but those numbers just seem a little weird. I mean seriously, I feel like my HC char is going to die from a real life lightning strike to my house, because it can't be from anything I can control if the numbers are right.

Not defensive at all, but a little confused about this here. What numbers seem weird?

Because if you don't beat Diablo in Inferno you might as well not even play the game imo.

well I hate the game because it is NOT Diablo it was a money grab by activision.
It was not thought out, incomplete and an utter joke.
That Jay whatever his name is a moron and screwed it up even more with his half ass ideas and attitude.

overall it was a 1 out of 10 game

I said it months before the release always connected single player was a BS move.
Now morons are asking for it to be removed.
WHY did you buy it, you should have said no and then it would not be there in the first place.
DUH typical pubic skool.
