Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

We'll have to wait and see how it plays out for 1.0.4. Can't quote me on this but thats when they're going to tweak a few unused ability / rune numbers to make them more appealing. Cookie cutting is getting out of control already.

Cookie cutting is getting out of control already.

The game having cookie cutters was inevitable. Nobody wants to play a less than optimal build. I was here telling everyone that cookie cutters were going to happen no matter what months before the game even came out, people kept trying to refer to the "infinite builds" BS as if it actually meant anything.

Every game has cookie cutter builds that are the most viable late.

People like to look at D2 with revisionist history. There were only a handful of builds that were viable in late game hell-mode. Those builds also required you to know what gear you where going to end up with so you attributed your stats accordingly, then dumped the rest to vita.

It'll get better as far as builds variation, they've strongly promoted that idea, they're just letting the dust settle still with server / RMAH stability / bug fixes.

People are very impatient with this game. Many are acting like the game is dying and its over already, i don't know what they're smoking, but i don't want any. This game will get continual and regular support because of the EXTREMELY MASSIVE amounts of money they will make off the RMAH. It is seriously projected at easily edging out WoW profits.
For myself i don't really care, i don't pay a subscription so i'll just play however casually i want.

It didn't matter what you did in D2 before 1.09 patch to be honest, you could finish the entire game through all difficulties with ease and little understanding of the game. In 1.10 they made it much harder. Regardless though of that, Diablo 2 has always had cookie cutter builds, I never said it didn't. :p

I'm not saying it's logical, if you check the posts over at the Blizzard forums they clearly stated that IAS was nerfed because it had become a required stat. Now Crit is reaching that level and if they crunch the numbers and feel Crit adds too much damage they have two choices, re-buff IAS and other skills or nerf Crit down to the level where IAS is now. Which do you think they will choose?

I hope it won't be nerfed too much. I understand the situation with IAS though. I found an Andariel's Visage a while back with str on it and it was still a huge dps boost over the helm I had at the time, which had a pretty decent amount of int. I haven't found a lot of crit gear, but when I do, it's not a big dps increase over what I have on.

The Wizard doesn't seem to be that cookie cutter. I have seen and used many different builds each one providing pros and cons over the other. And only 2 skills have never left my rotation Energy Armor and Magic Weapon.

But its still more cookie cutter than Diablo 2 by far.

but give it 5 years who knows what builds will look like. Once they add the Angel and Wander classes and a ton of new Items and PVP we may have more builds come out of the wood work.

Whatever they do regarding crit % and crit dmg, I'm sure we will adapt. I played long hours to get my buffed dps to 77.5k and finally be able to play through most of the game with ease, but I am far from invincible.

As for my uploading to youtube woes, I received an email back from Youtube staff last night telling me that the server issues were on their end, not mine. So lo and behold, I was able to upload my 1.1 GB siegebreaker video this morning.

angel and wander eh?!

I'm curious to see PvP fights where one person has 70k dps and the other has 13k dps.

I foresee lots of one-shotting going on lol

...and then, Blizzard will do the unthinkable... add resiliance to diablo 3

What they did in Diablo 2 before all normal stats were calculated was implement a flat "Your damage to players = 1/8". Even with something like that though I predict a 1 shot fest from DH's with tons of crit

Demon Hunters are exactly who i was thinking of lol

I just found this. First semi-decent drop in a while. I identified 13 ilvl 63 items yesterday and they were all crap. This makes me feel a little better. What do you think I could get for it in real money? I'm also thinking about keeping it for my barb. It does less damage than his current weapon but the LoH would probably really help.

thats worth a lot.

For reference, there's a Barb weapon on the RMAH right now going for $55 buyout that has:

771 dps
884 LOH
socket

only 5 hours left though, so you may not even get $40.

Its my Guess for the 2 new classes. Angel will pretty much be Tyrael type character and Wander will be like a DH but close range.

I want to play a demon spawn that fights for heaven man that would be sick.

Nice man, I hope to get my dps that high some day... currently sitting at about 41k. I can't upload my video during the day since vdsl slows to a crawl when uploading (don't wanna bog everyone else down) and I don't know how to limit my upload rate.

I don't feel they will do this. They already stated that they don't want to nerf gear unless they absolutely have to, because it impacts the economy and devalues peoples gear along with removing diversity. The only real damage modifiers are IAS, crit and crit dmg. If they were to nerf them further the only logical choice would be gear that has the highest possible rolls on your primary stat and that would be boring.

Also some of you have very selective memory on Blizzard games. They buff the hell out of stuff just as often as they nerf things. Do none of you remember double trinkets and arcane power in WoW, rogues with renatakis, or ret paladins after they were buffed, or warlocks post expansion? They make balance choices where they feel it is appropriate. They don't always make the right choices but that is inevitable. There is no way for a QA or development team to test every possible scenario in a game played by millions, especially one where a sizable number of players intentionally look to game the system.

Absolutely correct, the permutations that we are talking about plus the fact that so many are looking to game the system, especially because there is real money involved now leads to some of this and they can't knee jerk react to it, no matter how much ppl bitch about it.

Got past Belial on my first try with a swap to conviction+overawe along with fists of thunder+thunderclap. Feels good to finally be past Act II!

Killed Diablo on nightmare this morning. *ALL BOW TO MY MIGHT* LoL..

Also made lvl 51.

I've noticed the dps on weapons made a significant jump once I hit level 50. right now a 270 dps 1H is high for me.

Well I finally bought it. And I will only have a couple of hours to play since I will be going to Germany for ~2.5 weeks tomorrow...I see lots of grinding in the future with this game :D

Hey guys.. got some gloves for sale, don't know the prices on them.. if you guys are interested shoot me a pm :p

do an AH search for the following

min level req = 60
reduced level req = 9

max buyout = whatever your budget

buy best weapon available for budget, trivialize content, start on road to buying upgrades purely through AH

there will be cheap weapons with much higher DPS than 270

Got these for 200k in an unidentified gamble

how much would you guys value them for?

I almost salvaged them too. Similar gloves are priced at anywhere between 10 and +100 million. wtf? Dunno... I priced them at 15million B/O. I doubt I'll sell them at this price, but who knows? *shrug*

I'm going to have to give that a shot. Thanks - didn't realize you could get something with a 9 reduced level req.

Most of my upgrades have been through the AH for awhile now.

i have a 450 dps 1hand spear with -15 level required so you only have to be 45 to use it :)

That is why this game is a flop. You are no longer playing a ARPG, you are playing Auction House Tycoon: Diablo Edition.

Bobby Kotick wins!

Yep, with every post-launch change making the AH harder and harder to ignore if you want to have an Inferno-viable character.

I fully expect Nephalem Valour to get severely nerfed or removed altogether by the end of the year. Blizzard can't have people finding their own awesome items...
