Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

This was my exact experience with crafting. Wasted so much money before i stopped and started to use the AH. The gem market is fucked too. Now in hell, squares are dropping. I can't believe how much money i wasted upgrading from chipped gems

I learned the gems/blacksmith thing earlier on. Would've liked to upgrade BS just to see, but not worth the gold.

A lot easier to just buy like Flawless Square stuff on the AH for a few thousand gold.

I've leveled my BS quite a bit; now in Hell I basically spend all my money on repair bills from blue mobs. :p

Yeah but then you spend 10 minutes killing a blue mob pack only to get low level blues or whatever. Really disappointing sometimes.

Yea but that should happen quite a bit. You can't always expect to get super danko items just because you killed an Elite pack. It makes it that much better when you do get a rare or a legendary.

They're still working on items though and I doubt after a little more than a week we've exhasuted item types. I'm sure there will be many cool items later on down the road.

I'll pump gold into it when i either have a) an insane surplus of gold and time on my hands, or b) a sweet-ass recipe which needs crafting to make.

I got some type of page from a diary..blackstone diary page 23 or something like that. Anyone have any idea what it is? Couldn't turn it in at the BS or JC.

I got one the other day. Its a lost (the tv show) reference. there is one for each number in the code. Don't think its anything more than an easter egg.

I bought two square rubies the other day for about 1k gold each. That almost doubled my dps.

My smart phone doesn't "break." Not sure if you mean physically, or software wise. They made it pretty easy to recover and move to a different phone I think. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have some issue keeping your things in once piece.

i drop everything all the time hahah

Nah not to that extent. But I should have a better ratio of like 100:1 (100 being the amount of elite/blue mobs killed, 1 being a usable item for my toon) don't you think? Maybe I'm wrong I dunno. There should definitely be super rare stuff though.

I'm not looking for super badass gear. But to not be able to get gear, yourself, in a reasonable timeframe to be able to gear yourself at a reasonable level to go through content is a bit frustrating. I ran through all of NM at LEAST 4 times, with certain areas twice that much, and still Hell was nearly impossible without using the AH. I also did quite a bit of crafting, did get lucky with a few items there but only early on..definitely nothing usable for Hell, even Act1. Trading was a huge part of D2, but mainly for really good gear...uniques, completing a set, rune words, etc. I don't remember having to do all that much just for basic progression.

yeah this is lame. they need to tighten up the level requirements and make drops more worthwhile i think that will help a lot. supposedly theyre fixing legendaries

Weapons were the worst for me as melee above normal mode. I could get plenty of +stat gear, but weapon dps was always a few levels behind.

By far, the best weapon I found was a high dps +80 INT and wizard mana regen sword. I had to AH weapons for both melee characters after the first run.

Pretty much sums up my current level of irritation at D3. You're basically starved for gear in the game and unless you go to the auction house, you are almost never going to get anything useful. I'm okay with the random stats like having strength and dexterity on a wand, but the fact that there isn't any concrete and reliable source for decent gear is what troubles me. Unless you're level 60 stacking Nephalem Valor or killing them for the first time in that difficulty, the bosses almost always drop worthless "blue" items. To me, that is where the best loot should be coming from, the Act Bosses, not the piddling elites and champions.

What the current state of the game boils down to for me is you farming whatever level of difficulty you're at for gold in hopes that you can generate enough currency to buy one decent piece off the hyper-inflated auction house. It's really depressing.

Yeah totally working.

Nah man, prices are legit low.

Yeah what are you talking about man...

The prices are dirt cheap for most gear. Theres so much saturation that everyone sells crap for super cheap. It sounds like you havnt figured out how to search efficiently yet. Need to learn how to filter. :p

Ive bought some stuff for 3000 gold that others sell for 100k.

2 Chars through nightmare and I've only seen 1 legendary... dropped for first char at 22.

Drop rates are idiotic.

Here are screenshots of the two legendaries ive found :D I hope the stats get adjusted and end up being insane :D

A question for someone who was a loot whore in D2.

How does the rate and quality of drops compare from D2 to D3?

it works a little different and there are some issues with itemization. drops are crazy frequent the rolls just have such a huge range and the amount of good items on the AH make most of the drops worthless!

Gear up to level 60 is usually on the cheap. I myself typically price to sell for all my unused gear so no doubt there are affordable items out there. However, once you hit Inferno and start trying to juice up your resistances, well...that's another story. Especially if you want items with ideal stats.

Itemization in this game is so fucking retarded...it's pathetic

Instead of looting the shitty crap while leveling it's just basically you loot your items from the AH. And crafting gems, why craft when you can just buy for way less. Fucking bullshit!

Alright, I'm downgrading the main rig and upgrading the crap-box rig. This game is too fun playing with the fiance. With GW2 coming out at the end of the year this has got to be the best PC gaming year I've had in a while LOL; haven't really gamed in the longest time.

i assume eventually they'll raise the level cap?

Not a programmer but I have to imagine it would be simple to incorporate some sort of if/switch.

"If player level=60
then ignore=experience"

Get what I'm saying?

Are there requirements for nightmare mode? One of our friends joined us at the beginning of act 3 and then played through act 4. We then went back and played through acts 1 and 2. So he has completed all 4 acts but he can't play nightmare. He is level 18. Are there level requirements or something?

So I'm loving this game, played D2 quite a bit back in the day and also the last few months on bnet again. But theres 2 things I'm gonna bitch about haha. Playing wizard btw.

1: First time I ran into Invulnerable minion mobs today, what a pain in the ass. Ran into them in 2 different acts, both times they ended up bugging out. I would kill the leader but the minions didn't die, not even did they drop their shield. Fucking annoying, followed for awhile before I could lose them. The last time was act IV Hell, major pain.

2: Hell Rakanoth can suck my dick. Seriously. He's just whupping my ass up and down. I've got 30k life, 6k damage, 50% damage reduction and he still 1 shots me most of the time with his teleport attack. Farthest I've gotten him down to was about 20%, before he finally could connect with the teleport. He's waaaay too accurate with that it seems, I know when he's gonna tele but even when you start running around to avoid it he ends up connecting with it somehow. I can't wait to stomp his ass finally

/rant.

Did he actually beat the game on normal? There's an ending cinematic and credits, etc. Have to do all that before you can move on. But after he should be able to. I think you can complete it in a party, don't see why not.

Get more damage? My wizard is 57 right now towards the end of Act 2 and I just hit 10k Damage buffed with a weapon upgrade.

Yes, we completed all the acts and actually beat diablo twice and belial twice. It would seem that there is some sort of level requirement. We played until he was level 25 and then he could play nightmare.

I guess? Don't remember what level I was when I started nightmare, so, yeah.

Items are boring in this game.

True. Diablo 2 had so great variety. Diablo 3 items and their magic properties seem so stripped down and simple.

Hell, are there even set items anymore? Now that we finally have a hassle free way of transferring items between chars gathering sets would have been easier.

WTF?!?! I log in tonight and my character is NAKED! Everything on him is gone and nothing is left in the inventory.

so it appears I got hacked.

I've already changed my password and am going to order an authenticator.

Since I basically have nothing of worth left i may partake of those shady websites and buy some gold online so I can get new gear in the AH. While reading the forums at battlenet it seems those sites are a major source of hacks with people using the same email and passwords to register at those sites as they use for the game (which sounds like a dumb idea to begin with). I'll be sure to use a temp email and completely different pw if I go that route.

edit: I now have an authenticator on my phone.

What potential does this game have for expansions? I don't really see where Blizzard can go from here in terms of storyline.

Yes, friend of mine found Tal Rasha armor. The text of set items is still green.

Good. Havent found a single one yet. Gotta keep playing.

The game still keeps handing over POS items on Nightmare Act 2 that are worse than some ones I got in Normal and keep using.
