Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I have very similar stats. I think 26k health, and 19k dmg same on armor and resists. Most of ny gear is critical dmg and critical percentage. I started act I inferno last night and its alot easier than I was expecting.

What skills are you using? I use magic missile + seeker, and blizzard + duration/dmg on my mouse. Hotkeys are magic weapon + increased crits, diamond skin + more absorption, energy armor + force armor, and venom hydra. Passives are glass cannon, galvanizing ward, and the one that gives the arcane power bonus. I was using critical mass until they Nerfed it and it's not procing anymore.

I throw hydras everywhere I go, and slap a blizzard on a group the basically kit and mm when I can. Diamond skin for if they get too close or jail/vortex.

I've actually shifted to a new build which I call "Eternal Archon"

Magic Missle - Charged Blast
Disintegrate - Convergance
Energy Armor - Prismatic Armor
Magic Weapon - Force weapon
Slow Time - Stretch Time
Archon - Improved Archon

Glass Cannon --Galvanizing Ward -- Astral Presence.

This basically focuses on staying in Archon mode for as long as possible. With Magic weapon up now my Damage is 31k (higher in archon mode), and I MM and do light distegrate bursts to kill most trash mobs. When in archon mode, I burst like crazy, and can kill some of the easier elite packs in seconds.

Had trouble with the act 1 boss, really only the fire on the ground was the issue.. Redid my entire weapon bar to...
Magic Missle - Charged Blast
Diamond Skin - Crystal Shell
Energy Armor - Force Armor
Magic Weapon - Force weapon
Slow Time - Stretch Time
Archon - Improved Archon

Evocation --Galvanizing Ward -- Temporal Flux

Diamond skin absorbs 20k hp, enough to survive fire when all the panels light up.

So commodities on the AH are down again. The AH has been up and down constantly, and my items I just bought aren't showing up and I am one of thousands having this problem atm according to forum posts. Another issue, another day, another sad face for a game I had high hopes for.

^^this... gah. hopefully the items show up soon. :(

Yeah because they'll never fix that, blizzard never fixes their games or updates them.

Sorry I have a question....... my friend is lending his account to me for a trial since he's going on vaca.. I don't wanna mess with his characters, but I noticed that the stash was universal between all characters.... is gold also universal?? I'm level 1 but it says I have 26k gold already!

Spend that shit before he gets back! :p

Bite me. If the AC goes out on your house, or you get a flat tire, or a meteor drops on your god damn house it still sucks waiting for it to get fixed. The difference here is that this is a new product. If they had allowed for players to chat in lobbies, or make rooms for people we could at least trade items without the auction house.

Stay on your high and mighty trip. I'll sit here waiting for my gear to show up. I'll go have a couple of beers and continue to be bummed like a person with a rational thought process.

I put up eight items last night and they seem to be broken. I can't view them when I do a search in the auction house and neither can my friends. They are reasonably priced too, so they should have sold. The two slots I've had open today, everything has sold and I've been seeing them in the listings, just not those eight from last night. :(

Not a good analogy, not having ac causes physical discomfort, a flat tire costs actual money and time, and a meteor could kill you. This is a game world with a minor technological flaw that doesn't allow you to use one aspect. It's more like not being able to use the CD player in your car, and having to listen to the radio(actually finding items at random). If a feature in a video game gets you bummed you have bigger issues.

the AH is now completely offline... well at least they're sorta kind doing something about it. I am guessing all the transactions that seemed wedged will be saved.. hopefully.

they better be! I just bought a huge weapon upgrade with almost all my gold and its nowhere to be found!

It's a game that clearly was rushed and not ready for release.

What is the fun in buying items off a list for a game like this? Just wondering, cause I seriously don't see the attraction in selecting something pre-configured from a "spread sheet". The "sweet, I got it" moment is not there at all.

Yeah.. superior DPS etc. Then the game has become an acquisition simulator I guess ;)

That's what I was saying earlier and I got dissed for whining. After I replaced the white gear on my toon the first few minutes of Normal, I haven't seen another upgrade drop for me. So when the AH is down it makes the game even more sad to play as I can't upgrade my character. I'm level 50 now.

A grinder game where you grind for gold to hope the AH is up so you can buy some upgrades. Very weird game design!

I was against the AH, but after a while I was getting one shotted everywhere as a barbarian.

Basically after 40 hours of gameplay I think I had 1 or 2 "sweet, I got it" drops. Not enough to build up my character for the game.

Watch out hardcore. Apparently, while there is no PVP in the game right now, there's a new kind of player killing/griefing showing up. High level characters in Hell/Inferno create a Normal/Nightmare game in Act 1. They go out into the fields around town, wrangle up champion packs and lure all they find into town. Then they'll enter the Slaughterd Calf or Deckard's House, make the game public, and go AFK.

Unsuspecting players join only to be swarmed by the droves of champs running around Tristram. I'd really hate to lose a HC character that's made it to Nightmare by just joining a public game.

Ahahahaha thats awesome. I love creative griefing.:D

Wow I never thought of that happening. Now I'll have to be sure to solo Hardcore.

Got my wizard to 52 at the beginning of Hell. I'm really liking Archon! Maybe I get to 60 and Inferno today.

The AH is functional as of this morning. I even got my missing auctions back... I had sent my gold sales to stash and they just disappeared. They were all lined up in the Completed tab so it looks like AH is working until it breaks again.

link?

Its not possible to bring monsters into town. I want to see this.

Yup monsters can come into town just fine. I learned this when I was playing Act1 Inferno and one of the leaper things was camping the wp lmao.

Quick question: When playing hardcore, if you die, do you loose the gear your character had on?

Hmm. I don't like this.

Sound like it defeats the whole purpose of playing the game, which is the chance to get an amazing drop. If the drop rate is based on what's overstocked in the auction house, it takes a lot of the luck out of getting good drops. So essentially you'll get drops that aren't well stocked in the AH.

Don't think I like it. Just because an amazing item is overstocked in the AH doesn't mean I wouldn't love to have it drop for me... :(

Yeah it loses that "slot machine" urge with a decent chance to hit it big essentially for free (MF runs just require your time). Instead, its more like a lottery chance where the only people who expect to make it big are the ones who fail at math.

I think the problem is that its too random. Getting rolls on ideal stats makes them far more expensive than items with trashy stats. I would much prefer it to be similar to how Uniques used to be in D2. You get stats that you can expect, but only the best rolls should cost you a pretty penny (like the "perfects"). I still understand that the AH makes things way more accessible now and that the old system would just have the market flooded with uniques and sets.

So I bought the game last night and played... way to much.

My harcore wizard is lvl 25 in Act 2. I just killed Zulton Kulle.

I was completely wrong about everything and I'm glad I just caved and bought it. I love the game. Addicting as hell.

Gonna cry when she dies.

I don't think they literally mean the drop rate is dynamic based on the auction house. I think they simply mean they take the fact that the auction house exists into account when determining drop rate.

I think we need clarification. I read it as drop rates adjust based on what's overstocked in the AH. I hope your right. I like things being hard to get.

Yeah because they'll never fix that, blizzard never fixes their games or updates them.

yeah it's not like they had a another auction house that worked perfectly fine in another game that they could model this one off of. This much downtime for a company with this many resources is inexcusable.

It's a good thing I hit the auction hosue before doing the Act 2 boss. I didn't think he was so soon and wasn't ready at all. Totally sucked, but im so geared out it didn't matter.

This is in Inferno? I tried your build with about the same dps but only 25k hp and got owned by all the blues in Act 1. I wonder what i'm doing wrong...

If the AH existed but wasn't a factor at all into how items dropped/rolled, the economy would be completely tanked within a matter of weeks.

So the old "If you don't like the AH don't use it, you won't be affected by it" no longer holds true, as the drop rates of the game are affected by it's mere existence.

I think playing through D3 (at least through Hell) is feasible without the aid of the AH. It's more like "what you don't know won't hurt you" kind of thing. If you theoretically never knew the AH existed, you'd simply think that D3 was harder than D2 and that good drops are less common, regardless of the reason behind it.

I won't spoil anything, but please be careful when you face the Act II boss. From my own experience, he can be very dangerous and hit very hard. I didn't prepare enough and found out the hard way.

You'd have to avoid several blue packs and champs to get through hell without at least getting crazy rare weapons.

Trying to kill Diablo on Nightmare with a Demon Hunter but keep getting 7,000ms lag spikes which leave me running in place and you know the rest. Think I'm going to retire the game for a bit and revisit it in a month or two. Really fun game but I can't stand dying over and over to server lag and not my own mistakes. At least there's no monthly fee.

Sorry to hear what I thought all along that the gear drops in the game were being held back by the AH. Maybe they will loosen the reins a bit by the time I give it another try.
