If anything I thought Nightmare was a bit too easy. Hell is much better though and my buddy and I had a tough time with The Butcher.
Some people are just way too picky about gear. There are many factors that affect your overall damage, not just your main stat.
To me, normal was waaay too easy to someone familiar with the diablo series. Even with getting used to the changes, and trying to find the right gear, all 4 of my friends and I were able to breeze right through. The only boss we had any real trouble with was diablo the first try.
We all kind of agreed that the difficulty level in nightmare mode felt more like what normal should have been.
YEAHHH GO BLIZZARD REBOOT THE SERVER DURING PRIME TIME!! Yeaahhhh

Meh ...I'm gonna stop being critical of this game...there just seems to be an overall lack of depth in everything about it except for the cutscenes... but if that's what the masses are satisfied with having then so be it. ....Onward to Act 4 normal mode!

Remember though, they wanted to also let non-D2 veterans and those new to the series enjoy it too. Of course if you were used to Hell mode runs in D2, you'd find normal mode of D3 easy.
Anyone prefer the look of the 2005 Diablo III? I think it looks better.

Just hit 60, kind of annoyed at all the stuff that's been simply scrapped from the game.
-So many item suffixes/prefixes have been removed.
-The different types of elemental damage on weapons aren't actually differen't at all in function, they just look different. Gone are the days of poison over time, or low min-high max damage of lightning.
-There's no such thing as light or heavy armor, everyone wears everything
-Stats are distributed in a homogenized manner, there isn't any out of the ordinary "Wow!" niche items, like the goldfind% seems capped extremely low somewher around 15% per item, whereas in Diablo 2 a single item like the armor "Wealth" had +300% additional gold find which opened up "gold find" builds.
-There's no such thing as individual characters, everyone can be anything at the click of the button. This means there's no replayability in trying a differnent "build" of the same class
-Everyone's abilities is based off weapon damage, so wizards walk around with 2 handed axes with +intellect.
-Inferno is ridiculous at Hell gear levels, though not as bad as I thought
-Legendary items have lost their identity and don't truly stand out from the pack. Similar to uniques in vanilla Diablo 2, where rares were better.
-There's all kinds of "social" additions (banners, achievements, etc) but the Battle.net 2.0 lobby interface makes it seem like there's no community at all. Battle.net 2.0 is so shitty
-Due to the design and camera, it feels too much like a corridor RPG
-You can join anyone on any act if they are on your friends list, even if you didn't complete previous acts
-Art assets are recycled from WoW, the Demon Hunter's "Boar Companion" is a WoW model/animation, and the spiders are WoW model/animations.
-Act 1 and 2 seem decent, Act 3 and Act 4 seem somewhat rushed, especially Act 4.
-All the weapons sound the same when using attacking abilities. The Barbarians "Cleave" sounds the same when I have a sword and when I have a maul equipped.
-All kinds of problems with the auction interface, you can't sell something that isn't repaired, and you can't repair something that is in your stash unless you take it out. The auction house is also very laggy
-Due to the way the game is designed, hardcore is COMPLETELY impractical, especially Hell and Inferno. ESPECIALLY Inferno. The game design and "hardcore" mode doesn't match up, they took a D2 concept and applied it to a totally different style of game and it's a complete failure as a result.
As a hardcore Diablo, WoW, and retired hardcore Starcraft fan, I'd put this at about a 5/10 rating for Blizzard's standards.
Wow wizards running around with 2h axes with +int?......Seriously.....Ugh I just bought the game, and it will be here next Thursday.
Why O why did they do that....WTF are wands/staffs for now?
Basically the weapon type is irrelevant. All the damage from every class's abilties is based on weapon damage + their primary stat. So a high damage weapon + their primary stat means they'll probably use it. The game is way too homogenized

So basically for a Wizard. Your magic spell damage is based on the Damage your weapon does, and the stats it has?
Yep. In fact my lvl 43 wiz is using a 2h maul. That, I think, is my biggest complaint about this game. Wizard weapons are totally useless. They give small bonuses to arcane power, but not nearly enough to offset their lack of dps.
I also agree with Satan's opinion on elemental dmg. It seems virtually non existent in d3. Elemental damage played a pretty big role in d2 in how you geared for what situation. I couldn't tell you in d3 what mobs do what elemental dmg or what they're weak to, or that im even doing elemental damage. It feels completely inconsequential.
But those things can be fixed or changed in later updates (mostly).
Im also disappointed in the lack of runes, and the much smaller number of effects for gems. And speaking of gems...how screwed up is the economy going to be next year, considering gems pop everywhere, and the only way to destroy them is to accidentally salvage one. I mean, I have more higher level gems now than I ever had in d2, and I've only been playing for less than 30 hours.
The only fix I can think of, and one I would like to are implemented, is to change the jeweler to be able to craft amulets and rings, at the cost of gems/gold/pages. Thar would give players a crafting option they're missing, make gems more desirable, and kill off some of the unending supply.
-There's no such thing as light or heavy armor, everyone wears everything
Wasn't the case in D2?
Yes and No. Most heavy armors in a sense you need more Stre/Vit for
The robes you would always need int
Light/medium was Dex.
I think in diablo 3 (from what i remember in closed beta) that gear didnt matter on your stats anymore
I think it looks like shit
uh, I just went to join a public game and it said the servers were full, so i read these forums for a bit but eventually got tired of waiting so i thought I'll just play single player. Leave the queue, go to resume a character and i get servers full message again... for single player??
I'm in Australia and its 8pm, on American servers, surely that's off peak over there.
Strength and Dexterity were the only req to equip gear in D2. I think "heavy" armors just required a lot more str and dex if I'm not mistaken. Either way, some gear setups were weird. Like the Sorc's Tal set had a heavy chest armor too.
So, I think I did something wrong. I put the FXAA injector and pressed the pause/break key like it said, and while I noticed a small change in the bar menu where you select your spells and stuff, that was it, and it was slight. Please help!
Couple things I do not like :
Auction house- SUCKS! 10 items to be sold at one time really sucks. Not to mention being unable to cancel an item after 5 mins is real horse shit. I get that you are not paying monthly like wow "Which lets you put on the AH and take off as much as you want btw " But at the same time, give me some type of freedom with my stuff.
