Get blackout drunk, THEN play D3 :D

haha yeah. I went to a concert last night, and now sitting at work all I want to do is go home and play lol. However I do not regret seeing Thrice play for probably the last time :(

Well, I could have played D3 for all I know...woke up 3 hours late with my phone reset, I'll have to wait until I get home to see if I've leveled at all. :D

I am seeing them in Lincoln on June 5th. When did you see them? Was it worth it?

OMG so worth it. I saw them here in Orlando at HOB. They played for almost 2 hours. It was amazing to say the least. They played stuff from every album!

A wizard. Finally got meteor and am TOTALLY enjoying myself. Nothing cooler than picking up the passive so i have 120 mana (or w/e it's called), so that i can frost nova and drop 2 meteors back to back on a group that can't dodge it.

BOOM

Damn it I want Meteor and other cool sh*t! What's your bar look like?

I'm running:

clicks - 1. Missle + Split Rune | 2. Arcane Orb + Damage Rune

bar: 1. Nova | 2. Stun | 3. Shield

passive: Glass Cannon or Evocation, depends

This looks solid, if you scroll to bottom, I'm curious about the battle-mage thing they have going on, might try that for when I 2 man with a buddy: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/12/d...an-demon-hunter-monk-witch-doctor-and-wizard/

Kinda thought so. They are one of the classes with wayy more skills and options.

hahaha DUDE I did this too. frost nova and 2 meteors and then I would disentegrate to finish them off.. SO MUCH FUN. I've switched it up quite a bit now though. especially after getting archon..

I am really loving all the moves that the sorc gets now. I've barely even dabbled with the conjuration moves.

I beat normal last night, and played my first bit of Nightmare today. Got killed 4 times back to back by the same yellow mob. Going to need some better defensive moves and/or vitality!!! I've been stacking damage and intellect, so it's time for a smarter playstyle... but damnit it's been fun demolishing normal mobpacks =P

Try that link I posted earlier, the Battle-Mage may solve some of the survival issues. I'm trying to plan ahead.

I thought that every class had the same amount. No wonder I feel like this is a very adaquate replacement for talent trees. There's just so many options. In D2, it was rush to 30 for Ice orb, then synergies. That was pretty much it. Maybe a few points in warmth and a shield or something. Here, my possibilities are endless...

My friends joke, "Where'd chocko go?" ... "Did he ding? He seems to lag out for a few minutes whenever he dings"

conjuration comes into play with that harder difficulty when we'll need those armors more and more to prevent death.. hahaha i did the exact same thing as you sounds like. I just finished normal last night and I have over 660 intelligence and my hp is at like a measly 2200 hahaha

for me im using

electoruce(chainlightning) / Arcane Hydras / Blizzard / Teleport (no cooldown if recast in 1 second) / Archon no rune yet / disentegrate

i took off glass cannon it was getting me killed i switch it to 20% less dmg intake and the one that gives me higher AP and regen

Classes have the same amount. But as in all games not all skills or classes are created equal.

Only on Act 2, and having a hell of a lot of fun on my monk. Dual 1h spears with double digit +dex on them? Yes please.

Wizard sounds like tons of fun. Once I get my Monk to lvl 30, I will either get a Wizard or WD to 30.

Damn i can't see your link at work, but i'll check it out later.

I found i really enjoyed this build:

Left Click = Electrocute + Chain Lightening
Right Click = Ice Beam + Rune to make it do excellent single target damage
1 = Frost Nova + Cold Snap
2 = Force Push + Stun
3 = Meteor + Damage rune
4 = Teleport + Safety rune

Passives are Glass Cannon and the one which makes your resource go to 120 and increases its regeneration rate.

Oh interesting. How are you finding single target damage? what about aoe? I'm finding I can nuke down most mobs in 2-3 hits atm with what I have going on, and AoE is a JOKE. Normal of course, haha.

Crap, that sounds smart. I read somewhere that Ice Beam + Rune is a good solution to the single target damage woes. How fast does it kill? Also which rune exactly?

For electrocute, how are you liking that over say, Magic Missle w/ Damage/Split?

single target is just eh in comparison to my aoe... my aoe slaughters everything.. so many bonuses for chains and killing 20 monsters with on meteor its amaizng.

Electrocute seems rather weak, but it's the perfect compliement to my 2 meteors that i drop on people's heads. That way the whole group pretty much goes down at the same time.

Magic Missile + Damage definitely nukes, but i just find it boring to use so i've been trying other stuff. Split wasn't bad, but i found the randomness of how it splits annoying. Sometimes they'd all hit one target, other times only 1 would hit.

I'm quite torn between Ice beam with the reduced cost and the ice beam which charges up. The one which charges definitely nukes. Once it gets to the max damage you notice health bars just melting away, but you can't sustain it. I have a feeling the lower cost will end up doing more damage over time, especially on boss fights.

Grabbing arcane missile + damage and ice beam + less cost rune would be brutal on boss fights, though i always forget to change before one =P

I may have to do this for boss fights, it makes a ton of sense.

I have a question. What do you guys do with items that you pick up that you may not use? I am still in ACT1 of normal (Hey I have not had much time to play yet). I pretty much just keep magic items and sell them. So far I have not been putting anything into my stash. My thinking is that the gear I would want to keep I wound not get until I am at high levels (like 40+) Right now I just use all my gold to upgrade my blacksmith currently.

As soon as you can you should deconstruct magic items for the materials. I have something like 120 of the pots and another 30 of the teeth at level 23.

Also keep an eye out for items your other characters might be able to use when you start a new one.

For instance I found some yellow barb items on my wizard that I've put in my stash so she can use them later.

Actually, the general consensus is to sell all your low level blues since the crafting mats are difficulty specific. Hording a bunch of normal mats will be useless in nightmare etc. You will have almost a full suit of rares by the end of normal anyway. The blacksmith stuff isn't very competitive.

This seems to be what most people are doing as well as advice given to me by a friend who's in Hell right now.

I'm curious, how many subtle essences will be needed in, say, nightmare mode to craft anything worth crafting?

Spending them now (I'm level 10 :p) seems like throwing them away since what I get now will be useless later, but if it costs 100 to craft stuff later, I don't care about using 6-10 now.

EDIT: Just saw Intel_Hydralisk's post. Cool. Didn't know they were difficulty specific... seems lame :p

interesting... I was already planning on keeping any rare I see for the time being. I am not far into the game so I am unaware on the drops as you progress.

I've noticed a bit of that as well, though mine appears to accompany when the music changes (and then only occasionally).

On a separate note, my DH is up to lvl 21 I think and MAN am I loving the dual Chakrams..demolishes shit. Does anyone have any tips on the crafting system? I've been pumping gold into it but find myself unable to wear the higher end stuff the guy makes (since it's for a higher level character)...

Same crafting woes here. Level 19 and almost able all the way through the third crafting level (6,0000 gold a pop). Crafting seems to be the only thing I put my money into.

Anyone know if at the high end of crafting levels, whether you able to craft rare or special items for lower level wearers or not?

Wow, good to know. I could use the extra gold to level my blacksmith more.

Interested in the answer to this as well

Yep, market is flooded with low level mats so it makes more sense to just sell blues now.

Kind of a bummer but oh well. I'll probably toss out my mats to the vendors as well.

I believe so, although I haven't seen the recipies. And my reasoning is that there are legendary items out there now with level requirements of 8 or 9 or something stupid low.

I'd guess they'll make recipes for legendary items with reasonable stats for low levels.

I felt the same way about the skill system until I played with a friend last night.

We have the same class (DH) and we used very different skills, felt nice to have contrasting gameplay options.

My point is: *click click click - Now you both have the same skills and build. When making a character in a role playing game, I like to feel like I have created something. I don't feel like it is an accomplishment just to level up.

Pretend this was Dragon Age and you just died to a boss. Reload your save and respec everything on the fly - own the boss first try. I'd rather learn the tactics to survive an encounter with a build I made. I really don't feel that gear should be the only defining characteristic in even a casual aRPG.

It's really odd that so many of you used to trumpet D2 as BEST GAME EVER, then they change quite a bit of what made it D2, now you (not you specifically) consider all those mechanics dumb.

Part of the fun for me in D2 was discovering those viable all the way through Hardcore hell builds. I never went online and looked them up.

I've been deconstructing all the excess magic items and have tons of the two crafting materials you get in normal difficulty but I haven't hardly upgraded my blacksmith at all.

My gold has been spent in the auction house where I just find some really kick ass stuff for not that much money. My barbarian is level 25 with over 4k hp, raw dps is 197 (as shown on inventory screen), and my gold pickup radius is 20 (I love that!).

Now that I see dps 197 that sounds low to me but I know from actually playing that it mows through crowds quite fast (it's actually multiplied a lot by various skills). I'm using cleave and seismic slam mostly. Crowds of mobs have about as much chance as a swarm of monarch butterflies in a hurricane.

What was fun for you in D2 was not fun for me... lucky for you, you can still play D2 for all eternity and I can play D3, win-win.

Guild Wars had the exact same *click a few things* and two characters now have the same build kind of deal.

Heck, you can do that as long as there's an option to respec (i.e. WOW).

But, in Guild Wars, the gear doesn't make the build. Right? It was skill IIRC. That's a different gameplay mechanic entirely.

As for the WoW comparison, it may be apt, but WoW isn't a game I enjoy.

I guess my point is that so many people on the internet said they loved D2, but now it seems like they actually hated a lot about it.

Oh, I like D3. I just like it despite the flaws. It actually reminds me a great deal of Smash TV. There's some nostalgia!

Question: When 4 people are in a co-op the difficulty increases right? So does that mean the loot scales with the difficulty? In other words, if I want to join 3 of my friends going to fight the butcher at the end of act I, will the loot that gets dropped be better then it would with me fighting him by myself?

I don't think loot increases. The reason loot increased in D2 was because loot was free for all so it HAD to increase to accommodate extra players. I do not notice extra loot in a 4 player party vs. playing by myself in D3 since loot is unique to a player.
