II'm playing on a Guest Pass and have a Javelin equipped but do not know how to throw it. Am I not able to or WTH

1 legendary per 50+ hours is normal to you?

And when you do get it... your yellow is better anyways.

This. My first one was yesterday per 91+ hours and indeed was nothing special....

Any strong players around that can kill hell diablo for me? I am way too squishy still and I want to get to inferno. :p

lmk.

AFAIK there are no throwable weapons. Javelin is just a normal spear.

Why didn't blizzard add runewords, charms, and jewels? White/Grey items are completely useless but if we had runewords we'd have a reason to pick them up rather than them not even being worth it to vendor. The itemization in this game is terrible, I am playing D2 more than D3.

I wouldnt be surprised if runewords would reappear in some big patch. They would give more variety to AH too.

If you cant beat hell diablo, inferno is going to destroy you.

To be fair, the cash you get from flipping Act1 Inferno gear ramps up pretty quickly. Farming Hell is kinda silly tbh, but it's chicken/egg really if you don't have friends hehe.

@Maza - I miss my LF :(
Ball of Lightning is nothing like LF haha.

Blizzard Posted a "Game Design Update" Today.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/6018173

I found this particular tidbit about future patches quite revealing:
While we don’t have any specifics yet, our design goals are to support and promote build diversity; continue to ensure that a mix of champion packs, rare packs, and boss fights are the most efficient way to acquire the best items in the game; and ensure that all classes are viable in Inferno.

They also comment on their intent with Inferno:
We've also seen some people saying our intention with Inferno is just one-shot you to make it difficult. While damage is a bit spikier than we'd like, we're actually seeing a pretty significant number of people attempting Inferno without sufficient gear. There's a good chance that returning to the previous Act to farm upgrades will do the most to help you survive. That said, we’d like to shift some of the focus away from survival and more toward using a variety of offensive tactics to succeed. Survival will still be important, but finding ways to maximize your damage while staying alive is more exciting.

Their comment on Legendary items is also revealing:
One of the biggest pieces of feedback we’ve received regarding items is the relative power of Legendaries. This isn’t a simple issue to address, as it involves some intentional design decisions as well as expectations built by other games. First and foremost, Legendary items are not designed to necessarily be the best items in the game. They’re just one additional type of item as you level up, and they are not meant to be the primary items you’re chasing at the end-game. They can -- and should -- be exciting to find, but they’re not supposed to serve as the single driving force of the item hunt. Rare items, for example, have the possibility to roll up “perfect” stats that can, if you’re lucky, outpace the predetermined stats of a Legendary. That’s by design.
...
In addition, we’re planning to just straight-out buff Legendary items in a future patch, likely the PvP patch (1.1). These buffs will not be retroactive, and so they’ll only apply to new Legendary items found after the patch. In the long term, we’re looking at simply expanding the affix diversity and unique bonuses of Legendary items, and we’ll be able to share more details after the PvP patch

"The PVP patch" should be accompanied by the "when it's ready" hahah.
Shall we say Christmas?

My buddy Bobby K has informed me the PVP patch will be out by Christmas, and will only cost $39.99 (plus 14.99 a month). </sarcasm i hope>

This is in Inferno? I tried your build with about the same dps but only 25k hp and got owned by all the blues in Act 1. I wonder what i'm doing wrong...

Some blues packs dont work well with this build (namely shieldings and damage reflection), but It's been pretty effective on most of them. Pop archon and burn down the pack before they touch you, I used it all the way to butcher.

Pushed through act 2 slowly and hit a wall with the boss. By then I was stacking over 800 resist and 6k armor, but the naga melee were still too painful on the boss. I went back to my glass cannon build (new and improved!) for Act 2 boss

Split Magic Missle
Crystal Shell diamond skin
Venom Hydra
Force Energy Armor
Force Magic Weapon
Improved Archon

Temporal Flux - Evoc - Glass cannon
This gave me 45k damage. I pop archon and can burn though phase 1 and most of phase 2 in archon mode, then push the last 50-100k with missles and hydra. Phase 3 is mostly dropping hydra, dodging every attack and only getting in 1-2 shots AFTER his heavy attack. My first time to use venom hydra, it worked awesome on the boss.

They didn't really address the difficulty issue with inferno.

"Go back and farm"

HA!

That's not the problem. Going back and farming will still give you gear that's 5-10 levels below you. Great level 60 gear is extremely difficult to find, isn't it?

I really love how the elite packs and stuff go back to full hp once you die.

How do you beat phase 3 of Belial fight? I avoid the single green vortex, found a sweet spot to dodge the poison breath... but suddenly he makes all the fighting area surrounded in green goo, I can't move, can't use pots, then the green explodes and I'm dead.

Playing as demon hunter, lev 25.

Yeah and when you find it it's on the AH for 10mil gold.

You can dodge all the pools in the AoE phase of the fight. You'll have to be careful though, a mis-step can put you in a situation where you just have to run through it. In that case, have an "escape skill" ready for that. Idk if DH's have such a skill, but I think everyone has at least 1.

The transition between difficulties is pretty brutal.

My HC Wizard is lvl 39 with 12K HP and 1250 dmg and Act 1 NM still isn't a push over.

I Smoke Screen out of it if I mess up and get caught. Vault is nice also. The main thing is that watching how he drops the green globs as he drops them behind you. Don't trap yourself into a corner and if you do Smoke Screen out. Hope that helps.

:)

Can't remember if I posted in here, but anyone else suffering a very slight jitter or stutter in this game?

It's so strange. Fps doesn't appear to change at all but you can still notice it when scrolling through town.

Not even sure if micro stutter is the right word, more like a jitter.

Not sure if it's network related, display driver related or HDD related.

As a WD, I never used my phase skill I just ran around. The key is to get teh timing of how the goo explodes. You can run all over it up until the radius of each location maxes, then it explodes. The keys I found:
- Look for a dead zone. Most times I fought him there would be a dead zone he wasn't dropping stuff. Look for one. Not a guarantee, but you can sit there and pummel away.
- Move and look for a pattern. If you look for a pattern of how the drops LAND/FORM, you can walk over them in the same order and avoid the explosions.

Died at level 40. Got stuck in by wallers in Act 2 NM.

Feels more cheap than anything. I was stuck for literally a minute or more using pots and damage absorb shield.

Lesson learned. Teleport is necessary at all times on HC.

Marathoned a Barb and a Wiz to 60 this weekend. Went back and revisited my DH, finally beat Diablo on Inferno. The two other party members died in Phase 3 and I solo'd him down.

I actually had to hop on my Barb to buff our Monk with war cry to kill Izual. My DH is still missing that quest in Inferno.

is anyone actively playing act2-4 on inferno? im playing a WD and im looking for people to play with since it isnt really fun (or very viable) for me to try and solo through it all :(

ive played a few public games, but id rather play with more familiar people and have a solid group to play with through it rather than people who drop in and out

my battletag is: Nibbles#1611

i have act 1 inferno on farm with my monk, but act 2 is pretty crazy cant really progress in it.

Hey guys, did they completely remove light radius from this game or what. I see no weapons or armor that seem to increase your light radius at all.

BTW - Really enjoying the game.

Jesus. I am way behind already. Help me kill hell diablo for my wiz? :p

Congrats ! You must be in the 0.01% considering how much the difficulty ramps up in each act.

The difficulty remains more or less the same since everything basically 1 shots you from act2 through 4, so the tactics remain largely the same.

I don't recall why we stopped attempting Act 4 after we got there a week ago, maybe just got tired... but we walked in today and grabbed constant 5 stacks of valor without too much difficulty even managing a full group MF swap for each elite/champion pack. We skipped 1 group of immune minion elites though. I also had to swap to my Barb for Izual...

I think Inferno scaling is completely broken. It messes too much with the already fine line between what's defensively acceptable. It's one of the main reasons it's futile to attempt getting enough gear to avoid being 1 shot. When I see 150k damage on my screen my inclination isn't to get enough vit / resists to survive that hit, it's quite the opposite. Blizzard kind of broke the game in that regard. Melee wouldn't get wrecked so hard in a group if it weren't for the broken damage scaling in Inferno.

Blizzard already said in their giant post today that Inferno is currently "too spikey" and that they meant damage to be a "constant stream" rather than plop you're dead because the mob breathed on you. If that was their intention, I have no idea why some of these mobs hit for an impossibly high amount of damage.

The root issue though is Death itself. Death is not a big deal right now, period. Because dying doesn't really mean anything, they make the game "challenging" by literally making you die over and over and over in Inferno. The problem is that even if you get 1 shot... even if you're dying a lot... it simply does not stop you from progressing. Period. It's just a broken mechanic.

Right now, my Wizard and DH can easily farm Act 3 Inferno. My Wizard's gear is also very mediocre while my DH is decently geared at this point. Melee has a much tougher time though. I'm hoping one day my Barb will stand tall with mighty gear, but until then he'll sit around and get his ass carried.

This is the truth! It's the most annoying thing in the game. At some point in the game I tell myself "I have spent more gold repairing then looting gold"

it's very apparent that Blizzard didn't really play test Inferno or their testers were absolutely horrid

what I mean by that is the class viability between DH/Wizard and WD/Barb/Monk is way too wide in Inferno

I've just been soloing through the game on my WD and I finally beat Inferno Belial. I step foot into A3 and its immediately apparent my gear isn't adequate. my options are to either group up and see if I can get carried in order to progress through A3 or forgo valuing armor/Vit/resist and go glass cannon focusing just on damage boosting stats since I already get 1-2 shot in A3 using the gear that got me through A2.

getting really tempted to make a DH because DH inferno play style is very similar to WD's except much stronger and easier

Already shelved my Witch Doc and working on a wizard now.

I messed around with a blizzard / arcane hydra kiting build in Act 2 Inferno today. I was doing pretty well, even 4 stacking valor before running into a wall. Though the kiting was working well, it seems that Blizzard has implemented a "death dot" to be automatically placed on your character if the mob that you are fighting is still alive after a certain length of time (felt like six minutes or so). Anyone else experience this? I want to say that it takes off 5k hp a second as it burns through my Diamond Skin in 3 or 4 seconds.
