Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

God damn man you are crazy...The whole time watching that I was like o fuck o fuck o fuck o fuck...Glade you made it.

Yea, really should have turned off MP for that, or got to 60 first. I knew it was going to be rough as I really have no Armor or AR even though I have almost 40k hp

Is there any one class that is considered to be the "best"? Or have they balanced things out? I have a 60 wizard, barbarian, witch doctor, and demon hunter but I'm not sure which one I should be focusing on.

For anyone who hasn't tried Path of Exile --- JUST do it. It's free and it's the game Diablo 3 should have been. It's one of those games I can't stop thinking about when I'm not playing it! I never felt that way about Diablo 3 - but I LOVED Diablo 2.

They all seem to be effective. I recommend just playing whatever class fits your playstyle.

Its opinion/build based for the most part and even if you attempt to make it objective it still doesn't work.

HardCore is less about farming and more about playing the game so people want to play what they feel will do best. So if you look at character creation in hard core it looks like:

Barb : 1.6 Million
Monk: 1.4 Million
DH: 1.2 Million
Wizard: 1.1 Million
WD : .9 million

-This happens to align with my observations. Barb best class, followed by monk,DH,wizard,wd.

Then look at softcore which gives an even poorer view because it includes pretty much everyone.....You'll see DH is the most popular and that is because at one point (the peak of the game before WW barb) the DH was the fastest farmer and everyone wanted a DH.

DH: 13.5
Wizard: 13
Barbarian: 12.8
Monk: 12.2
Witch doctor: 10.1

too many factors to weigh in. No real PvP so you can't really use that. Gear varies too much so even the best class can get smoked by the worst class who had better gear.

.....so what I'm trying to say is what ever class you feel is the best...is in fact the best.

Personally my current favorite class is the monk by a pretty far margin. The Wave of light is just too powerful 3 times the power of meteor at 3 times the speed. Tempest rush allows for extremely fast farming, I dare say fastest, farming. Most of the monks abilities an find a useful purpose....even the reflect damage mantra with 8% attack speed can be quite useful.

Joined the "almost died for the first time club", although it was more I was just dicking around not really paying attention more than anything
Time to put on my serious face....

That last health globe saved your ass! I believe I have said "oh my god I'm gonna die" in just that way before as I ran around futilely, knowing there were no options left. In a way those deaths are worse than the shocking sudden deaths that can happen when you take too much spike damage.

For me, the worst death was when I ran into the A4 Keywarden at lvl 50 for the first time (when the Keywardens were in all difficulties) while also fighting another boss. I figured I was completely fine but I was not aware that it had an attack that reduced healing effectiveness by 75%...got "scratched" and then watched my health globe melt through my monitor bezel no matter what I did.

I don't think you can really go by these anniversary stats that Blizz posted. They just don't accurately represent what the real breakdown is. Moldran made a vid about this. I hope I'm linking the right one since youtube is blocked at work.

Heh, just sold a Schaefer's Hammer with life steal that I bought months ago for like 600K...for 17,000,000. I hadn't been using it because it wasn't a very good roll on the lightning shield proc (only 31%, max is 50%) and I'd purchased better versions of the hammer anyway. The market in this game is so funny sometimes.

lol, I was with him, that was me saying "omg you're going to die" just watching his health go up and down since I was on the other side of the map. I was off finishing the quest, he was trying to be rambo, hence the "what are you doing over there."

That is awesome. I've "accidentally" bought stuff that I thought was going to be an upgrade, before 1.0.8, and turned around and resold it for a few million more but never that big of difference.

I sold an old legacy Zunimassa's Journey with 7% poison 6% attack speed strength and vit for 2 billion a few months ago.....I am pretty sure I paid like 2 million gold for it pre 1.0.3.

But if you factor in inflation gold used to be 2.50 a million now is .30 for 10 million its probably worth the about the same.....they mine as well call is ZWD instead of gold amirite.

Thats because legacy zunis are BiS for dps, and plenty of chart topping Barbs wanting to show their epeen will easily jump on those, especially if they had a good str roll. That is not inflation. In fact, you possibly could've undersold them.

yeah but 2 billion is the max. They were quite awesome but I wanted to upgrade my monk and those 1 boots regeared my entire monk. I would of tried for the $250 cash but I don't really need cash and would have had to go from cash back into gold too much hassle.

I've reached lvl 42 on my hardcore barb. I'm in Act 2 on nightmare. I'm thinking that it's about time to drop monster power down from 10. It's not so much that I'm in danger of dying, but they have so much health. I came to the realization that I don't do enough damage when I discovered that I can no longer kill treasure goblins before they get away. Even a trip to the auction house didn't fix this.

Did they ever add PVP?

They added "brawling" which is pretty generic and featureless. It doesn't have a scoreboard and doesn't have any sort of special balance or restrictions on gear/skills/etc.

Apparently PVP development suffered from the same thing that the overall game development suffered from: no clear direction leading to scrapping and redesigning it, leading to insane delays, and finally pushing out a product that seems half-baked. Brawling, in its current form, could have been released at launch for all the features it has (none), so who knows why it took them 9 months to finally throw up their hands and release it as-is.

I could see the game being a lot of fun if they added CTF and other game modes for team matches, though who knows what we'll get at this point.

Based on what we have seen so far we are unlikely to see anything major come out until its something they can charge for; the expansion pack.

Currently they say they are working on itemization. Which is likely going to result in very shallow changed like more customization to crafting for weapons and such. Its unlikely it will go much beyond what it currently is until after the expansion pack....and even then its unlikely that the changes needed will be implemented.

Blizzard said they put a lot of time into PVP but could never git it right. They didn't want to release a 'PVP' that wasn't up to par so they completely scrapped it and released brawling. It wasn't released with the game because at the time they thought they could do PVP right.....PVP Plan A - Brawling Plan B....Plan A failed to they dumped plan B on us as a better than nothing type thing.

I cool idea would be a found items only ladder. They build in a trigger that ties each item to its founder and you can only use those items in the ladder. It would remove Auction house and trading and if they implemented PVP in this Ladder it should work out pretty well. They could even add the battletag in the flavor text of the item so we know where each item comes from for all modes.....It would be cool to search the auction house for items found by you.

It's funny, one of the most frequent comments I see these days is "wait for the expansion", yet no one at Blizz has ever spoken about an expansion and, given their track record, we would probably not see one until 2016 even if they were developing one.

I agree, I don't think we'll see the massive itemization overhaul that everyone wants and I'm skeptical that we'll see anything of substance before the console launch. I'd be truly surprised if they had more than a few people working on actual PC game content, but all we're doing is guessing. They could have something awesome right around the corner, but the only thing that supports that notion is the fact that they have been unable to release anything in the vein of significant content, and "they're due" isn't exactly supporting evidence.

Personally, PVP is not why I play these games, but the team's inability to release anything of substance speaks to the lack of direction the development must have as a whole. Maybe the new guy get some of these "targeted legendaries" and tighter roll values into the game; that'd do quite a bit for the experience, even if it was all the same content being played.

Honestly I doubt a new guy can do anything. You are likely correct that they only have a small few people working on enhancements they are likely newer less talented people as well.

Group A team of 50 spends 2 years building a broken piece of shit and then hands if off too team B a team of 5 to maintain. Team B is in no way is capable of fixing the turd handed to them. All they can do is polish that turd the best they can. The polish team has likely done amazing things given their circumstance.

.....I speak from experience as I'm polish someone else's turd right now.

It's crazy that the lead guy who apparently can't lead is who they moved to Titan. What did he do right in their books? Why wasn't he fired instead?... blows my mind how people that high up in companies can fail miserably at their job and keep it.

Hopefully whoever is at the helm now will realize the potential for some sweet ass pvp. The foundation is there--all they'd need is pvp gear which has WAY scaled back damage and decent defense. Of course there could be variations so people can choose more glass-cannon or tank, etc. People would choose attack speed, crit, or crit damage, etc... not all 3. But this is the only thing keeping even the current brawling system from being any fun imo. The current gear it just too imbalanecd for pvp.

The game actually lends itself more to PvP than a regular aRPG because of the talent-less skill-choosing system. They just have to try = /

Job performance seen by executives is different then job performance seen by outsiders of the company.....Maybe he developed diablo 3 at a fraction of the expected cost and time all while having above expected revenue streams from it......Maybe the auction house was his Idea and maybe the auction house has generated far more income then we suspect.

.....I'm pretty sure the executives over at actablizzard aren't cruising the internet reading nerds rage about RMAH and poor design.....Profits delivered by Jay Wilson is all they see.

Ah apparently all the talk of an expac has been due to this leaked slide from 2010:

bliz-schedule-rumor1.jpg

I guess based on that, these guys are saying that the expansion has been "delayed" until 2014, while Blizzard has taken issue with the story noting that they have not even announced an expansion, let alone missed a target date.

One thing that I think would be cool on the console versions is to have Bluetooth connections to a tablet device. Players can do inventory management and skill selections in the tablet without having to stop the party play. I'd adopt the jump in/jump out mentality philosophy so users doing something on the tablet will "jump out" of the game so the rest of the party can trek along.

That kind of stuff would incline me to buy a console version as well. I loved the ultimate alliance games but it got old having to pause so often when everyone levels up.

Lost my WD tonight :(. Kind of my fault, thought I was out of range. Stupid exploding mobs + molten mortar fast skullcrushers.

http://www.twitch.tv/tehslippery/c/2418200

At least I have my Blacksmith/Jeweler at level 10, stash fully unlocked, and started to get a few recipes. Plus I have some Flawless Squares already and saved a few pieces of gear while leveling, will make it easier this time around.

Aw man, I paused the vid and you really didn't look like you were in the blast zone - certainly not enough to get bombed from full health like that, although I don't know what your life/res/armor values were. I shall raise a drink in your honor tonight! RIP

I got to Inferno last night and have decided to try running a build focused on health globes: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bZiQVg!ZaY!ZcbbZb. Seems kind of funny using the lvl 10 passive at lvl 60, but my gear currently has +24.5K to health globes and potions so spawning as many of them as possible keeps me going. It's been quite a while since I've played without Rend or an armor boosting passive.

I haven't had to use Ignore Pain yet (been playing MP0) so I'm considering what other skills I could add in its place. Just thought it was prudent to have an oh-shit skill on hand while I see if the build will work for me with my Shaefer's Hammer.

Bah, I just lost my lvl 56 HC barb. Act 1 of Hell monster power 10. Just a random pack of elites. I killed 3 of the 4 but then suddenly my health stopped regenerating and that was it. Sucks, but oh well. I guess I should have backed off the monster power a bit.
