Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I am gonna hazard a guess that your damage is way higher than Yoshi's. Yoshi solos mp10 ubers all the time on his wiz. Are you using your wiz to do solo ubers?

I used my monk, I can play a bit more sloppy with him without dying.

I can get my wizard up to around 230k DPS but I made a Force Armor build so my health is only 15k so I can take 4 hits before death. Which for the most part is fine I can breeze through all MP8 Ubers except for Kool and Breaker....I really have to watch how I play or I'll get tornado'd....Which is almost an instant kill.

So I use my tank monk with 5 % life leach and 220 Life per Spirit spent and watch TV while killing them.

The Market is as dead as it ever has been. I'd say is more than Half of the Items in the Auction house are gone. Searching for my standard search list and Instead of getting 2 or 3 pages of stuff that matched what I was looking for I was getting less than a page.

I'm guessing Christmas and holidays are cutting into play time...........I kind of wish they made a simple method for giving gold in this game......I'd have my relatives give me D3 Gold instead of what ever stupid useless shit they plan on getting me.

I think this thread could itself be a clue as to why the game appears dead: there's only so much allure to running limited content for incremental DPS gains. It also isn't terribly interesting to read about. Most of the non-DPS discussion I see is about what isn't in the game rather than what is, which is pretty telling.

The game lacks depth, quite simply.

I thought Force Armor builds were nerfed ?

I thought Force Armor builds were nerfed ?

Yep they were. Instead of unlimited 30% its 30% up to your total life. So at 15k life I have to be hit for about 45K too 1 shot me. If I'm hit for less than 15k its only takes off 5k.

Its still quite a viable way to get High DPS at a low cost, its just not broken like it used to be.

Ah ok thx for the info, I'll take a look at a build. So 15K life is about the target for this build ?
Would 4000 life regen be enough ? to deal with life loss ?

around 15k is about right. With no life steal you want to be above 2000 regen with life steal you can go lower.

Instead of getting Vitality you want to grab All res and Armor.

The point of this build is to get High DPS at lower cost. 200k DPS at 15k life is much cheaper than 200k DPS at 30k life

@Yoshiyuki_Blade

I have found what to do with all the trash that I find. Sell it on the RMAH as there are people that are truly clueless playing this game. I got $2 for a rare quiver that was a 5k dps loss from my "Legendary" quiver. To give you an idea how bad this quiver was mine has 12% attack speed on it. That's right I sold that junk quiver for $2; 3 million gold after Blizzard tax?

Then for Christmas some wonderful soul bought my Sage's Boots for $3. They had no stats whatsoever. Just resist and run speed as far as I can remember. I needed some bag space to clear out decent items that wouldn't sell on the Gold AH so I tossed this junk onto the RMAH. So $3 for that gem equates to $6 million gold after Blizzard Tax.

Guess the game is still in the trash it sounds like. Wonder why D2 had so much staying power, I mean the concept is basically the same.

At the moment I have this build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/phuncz-1686/hero/22889823
In-game I have 70k+ DPS, I don't know why B.net says 40K.
It has almost 4000 regen, average 750 all res and 3000+ armor. I also looked for a lot of dex because that gives additional damage reduction with dodge %. But I guess I'll need some vitality as I have 0 (just +12% life) and I'm at 5K.

Any suggestions would be welcome !

The same reason some people still play Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake 2. I guess for some it's a very mild form of autism. My dad also has this: if I take him outside his comfort zone, he starts yelling and gets anxious, without any reason to feel threatened.

For some it will be the change, some people just don't like change or like to leave their "years of work" wither away.

And about 98.3% of the rest are whiners.

I myself like (good) change and progress so I'm happy with the game as are many others.
Don't let the haters get to you, saying no one plays this game anymore. They just want everyone to quit so they don't have to feel alone.

.

Just some all around better gear I guess.

Your Helmet needs crit
Gloves Needs something more like All res
Triumvirate works better with a Regular/black damage weapon so a Chantando would work better.
None of your rings have crit
Bracer doesn't have crit or life regen.
Amulet doesn't have crit
Armor doesn't have a main stat.

But over all it seems you get the basic Idea of the build.

Except they said no specific pvp gear.

http://diablo.somepage.com/news/1435-diablo-iii-patch-107-announced

They've also said that the game will not be rebalanced on a razors edge around pvp. Something along the line of...

QQ1: barbs are overpowered in PVP!!! OMGRAGEQUIT
Blizzard: hah, probably.

They've also stated that d3 is not designed around being an E-sport, further emphasizing how little they will focus on perfect balance.

I don't care about rank or balance as long as its fun. They can avoid a lot of heat if they focus on pve aspects along with pvp. Straight up death match will be very boring very quickly

Which obviously begs the question, 'wtf is the delay in getting pvp out?'

Just blizzard stringing people along so that they keep their userbase to buy the next expansion.

If they've actually been spending their time adding fun game-modes (like, other than just wow arena-style deathmatch), that'd be sweet as shit, but i seriously doubt it.

Your last statement is where every conversation i ever have about D3 ends up.

They sold an unfinished product. The sad part is, they obviously knew it was "done enough" because the gameplay is smooth and satisfying, and keeps me and a few of my friends playing (only a portion that were playing on release).

Blizzard holds onto patches until a competitor releases their product so they can "Steal their thunder" so to say. But they also have console versions to finish and releasing pvp at that time would make everyone in this thread forget how long they had to wait for it. The patch would get lots of fanfare from the PC crowd, total units sold would be outrageous, etc.

The last possibility is that they truly are stumped how to do pvp in the game (see launch reactions) and we're all fucked. I'm a pessimist so you know how I'm leaning.

Found these about a week ago...

Gave them to my buddy who plays a monk though...could have sold them for 100m+ at the time probably...(he gives me things that would be good for a barb also lol)

A couple hours later I found this ring though for my barb though. It was a good day :)

That's crazy man. Since playing again, i've picked up most rares... i'm guessing i've vendored somewhere around 100+ inventories, all worthless junk minus a couple 'okay' chests/legs which netted a mil or two a piece.

It's stupid how rare finding good rares are, angry pun intended lol

I only pick up lvl 62 one handed weapons, bracers, shoulders. and Lvl 58+ Jewelry and gloves. :)

Blizzard released their PvP blog.

Pretty much what I was expecting a major fundamental issues with PvP that ultimately requires them to start from scratch for everything but dueling.

But good news is dueling will be out in 1.0.7 so they say.

Big surprise.

At this point I would rather have more SP content than the option to duel honestly. Blizzard can't seem to deal with the elements of PVE/PVP in the same game worth a damn anyway (WoW's Arena mode can provide the proof of this).

I almost installed Path of Exile again, but just couldn't get past the combat. It's just not satisfying to me. I dunno what it is since the game is an aRPG. I beta'ed it extensively. It just doesn't feel as satisfying as d3 combat. However, I almost installed it again after seeing a video of their pvp mode, which is full on loot - drop everything when you get PKed - sort of thing. You even get up to 30% experience per player you kill, and the player loses up to 30% experience. I assume that XP lost/gained is locked per level, as in you can't drop in levels. It just seemed very exciting and very open since you can join anyone's game and just hunt them down. The way they deal with that is by having leagues. So if you're not in the Cut Throat league, which is the pvp league, you can't partake. Carebears will be safe outside of this league.

SP content

Endless dungeon challenge please. Make it an event that everyone must accept, when party wipes it is over.

The more levels you clear the harder it gets, with a bonus to exp and MF.

DO IT!

I'd rather have less-satisfying combat accompanied by immensely satisfying gear/loot/skill/passive systems than more-satisfying combat accompanied by none of those things. :p

I'll prob re-visit the game after open beta, but for now, it's a snooze fest, whereas D3 is still satisfying for me. To each their own though. I also feel I must be in the minority since I'm going to hit 100. 7 more paragon levels to go. I probably enjoy D3 more than the average person posting in this gargantuan thread.

Haven't played PoE, but the combat does look rather lackluster. Everything else looks amazing. FFX's grid skill system was completely bad ass and its about time someone builds off that. I won't play it till its released. Don't want to get burned out on a game before its even released.

My biggest complaints about D3 are the simple stuff:
No true multi-monitor support
No good Map/inventory options (full screen map overlay, Bulk sell and Identify, Secondary weapons, ect ...)
locked FOV

If I could zoom out and see more of the screen and have Inventory on my left monitor and Map on the right.....I'd be quite the happy gamer.

Aside from those type of things I rather like D3.

That's the one thing that kept me away from PoE - the combat looked really lame. A slow, hamfisted swing of the sword...whoopee. However everything else about it looks vastly superior than D3 unfortunately.

There are dozens(+) of abilities you can use, not just standard attack. I find myself rather liking the combat. You also gain quite a bit of attack speed with passives and different weapon types. A dual weilding claw Shadow with a good mix of skill gems is walking massacre.

I can't stop playing the goddamn thing.

Wow that sounds fun. I'm going to have to try that out.

Tonight around 8pm EST tune into Kripparrian's stream for some PoE action. He's playing a [H]ardcore ladder and had gotten to level 76 when I fell asleep watching him last night. I was in the race but I died twice trying to play when I was obviously too tired to do so. Guess it didn't help that I was saving all my enchanting materials to make rare items for later levels. Got 3 shotted while frozen in place wearing mostly white items. Next race I won't be so cheap! :)

That's how it feels too - at the beginning. A new character in PoE is very similar to a new character in D2: you run slowly, you swing slowly, you have one skill, your gear is some stuff you just found on the beach, etc.

Then once you grab some passive nodes, some cast/attack speed, some run speed, accuracy, hit recovery, etc., you begin to see what your character is capable of, which leads to stuff like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7t44Gj8TfI&feature=youtu.be&t=29s&hd=1

Combat in D3 is great in a smash-'em-up kind of way, but if that was all I wanted I wouldn't have been satisfied with D2 for years. IMO, D3 would make an excellent arcade game: grab a street fighter pad (stick+6 buttons), assign one skill to each button, make enemies drop power-ups, then go to town like it's Streets of Rage. The combat is sweet, but it's the only thing to me that actually seems like it wasn't a rush job.

Blizzard released their PvP blog.

Pretty much what I was expecting a major fundamental issues with PvP that ultimately requires them to start from scratch for everything but dueling.

But good news is dueling will be out in 1.0.7 so they say.

Ha ha I guess I was right. One day Blizzard is going to throw in the towel and realize that PvP and PvE don't necessarily mix. It would be much easier to have a PvP grind with it's own toned down move set separate from the PvE balls to the wall fun. Hitting a dragon for 30 million is fun. Getting hit with that move in PvP sucks when you have 50k HP.

My suggestion for them would be to:

1) Have a separate move set for PvP. Meaning same stuff as PvE so the players don't get lost, but with different cool downs, CC timers, power ratio, etc. Another words tone everything down so it's a game of chess where positioning, ability to manage cool downs, defense stacking vs offense stacking, and team synergy matters.

2) Have rated PvP starting gear. Don't bring the PvE ridiculousness to PvP. Don't need resilience or whatever BS they did for WoW arena. Just regular gear with the nerfed abilities from note #1. If you want to do unrated fights then allow that too.

3) So what did I grind all that time for if you're suggesting a different set of gear for PvP? Have rated PvP dungeons like the one in the game Aion. The dungeon would be filled with mobs, bosses, and objectives that add up to a score for completing. 2 teams enter at different starting areas. Have bottlenecks where if both teams are moving about the same pace their "lanes" will overlap and PvP will happen. If you want to backtrack and gank the other team from behind that's a viable strategy too.

4) Open world pvp. Open your game's instance to pvp. When someone enters a' la Dark Souls you're notified of it. PvP just happened! Train them with the mobs you're fighting, drop aggro with invisibility, and aoe that mofo down with the elites baby! You don't mess with Texas!

5) PvP ladders like that Path game. It's OK to copy someone else. They copied many ideas from D2 so it's all good.

6) Nasty party based PvP. You're running a dungeon where the loot is shared amongst members. Little Timmy picks up a Skorn with 1650 dps and 6% lifesteal before you can click it. Shit just got real as you type /pvp in the middle of the run and click duel on the loot window. Little Timmy has a choice; give it up or fight it out. David chooses to side with you, and John sides with Timmy. Let the bodies hit the floor!

Of course there are many other ideas out there. Maybe someone that really loves the game should start an ideas thread for Blizzard to see. They do actually read their forums as that's how we got the 1.05 patch.

:)

I'll be honest, I don't give a damn about PVP within Diablo. I'd rather they give the option to flag yourself as available and leave it at that. Otherwise I'd rather they spend a significant amount of time continuing to tweak the main game that remains flawed.

I don't think the pvp could bring me back. had some fine while it lasted but they'd have to change a lot for me to give it another shot.

Are there actually any fans of the game here, still playing the game or just whiners and haters ?
Because it sounds like a senior citizen's home in here with all the complaining. How about you all go to the Path of Exile forum topic and masturbate yourselves on how great the game is.

I expected no pvp and that has come true. whatever they've been working on all this time is being thrown out.

adding a switch to turn players into hostiles would take a day of work, so that is not what has been taking so long. they were actually trying to figure out a serious pvp mode. good for them, but they failed.

if you're lucky, in the next patch you'll be able to right click on a character and choose "duel". have fun with that

Last character wipe is on the 23rd of January for PoE. Then I can go. :)
