The first time I beat inferno I hadn't even used the auction house yet, So I did it with 0 gold. This was Pre 1.0.3 when it was still hard as balls (and Item drops were better). Took us 8 hours to beat belial and about 2 to beat diablo. The trick was just avoid mobs as they were 10x harder than bosses. If you ran into soul Lashers restart game.

You either have to farm a bit and get lucky or learn effective ways of getting gear on the AH. Get a high vitality on one piece but low everything else and then High main stat on another and low everything else. Combined together you end up with a solid build. but searching for all the good stats on each piece of gear is going to cost you.

My build is about as expensive as they come now........except for the shield. I wanted to try a Shield out and bought the shield I'm currently using for less than 100,000 gold. and its a bad ass shield. In AKON mode with this shield I have like 1500 all res and 9000 armor. Pretty much stopped dying.

How much did your MH cost you?

BTW, excellent weapon for your enchantress lol Does she actually do decent dps with that?

I haven't tried, but i may be able to beat inferno in a group, but that's just being carried imo. If i can't solo it, i can't beat it... and yea Soul Lashers are fuckin retarded, maybe after next patch's cc fix i'll actually be able to handle shit.

Maybe it was this thread on diabloforums? He goes through and breaks down some percentages with a decent sample size for how long the game has been out. I had good luck when I got my MF up to 320 but i've been on probably a 25-30 hour dryspell getting nothing with that MF. Oh well i'm taking another break to hit up Borderlands 2. Yep that is it. If you take a look at the graphs you see it start to spike at 300 and hardly move at all until then.

I grouped and soloed with the same gear non auction house gear. The trick for a cheap wizard is Life Per Second + force armor and lowish health. I was able to get 2000+ life per second with just shit I found.

Don't know what you mean by MH....But I'll list off what I paid for my gear.

Natalya's sight ---- 75 Million
Natalys's bloody footprints - 10 million
Vile ward -- like 5 million a while ago
lacuni prowlers - 30 million
Zunimassa's Marro - 55 million
Zunimassa's Pox - 20 million
Depth diggers - 5 million

Found:

The Witching hour - worth at least 60 Million
Sky Splitter - worth at least 15 million
amulet - worth at least 10 million
Gloves - NO CLUE stats are so crazy I'd say 20 million to a buyer who wants life regen.
Skull grasp - no clue.
Grand Vizier- 5 millon

I've been thinking about life regen for awhile, and how nice it'd be on a wizard, with all the running i have to do. I haven't given my itemization much thought besides, "i like MF and Crit, and Int, and Vit, and All resist... so i'll try to get those on gear."

I should find a way to get Life regen in there, but as you are no doubt well aware, when you fill up that filter with too much good stuff when you're searching, things because extremely expensive very quickly.

I can't find a way to make money anymore either. Nothing sells on the AH, it's pretty annoying. Even some items which are actually really good, go for like 10k, if that. Rabble.

How are you guys making money? (lucky epic drops?)
 
500+ hours
100+ dollars

I spend about 100 bucks to get my first set of gear....all of which I no longer have. To increase farming efficiency. Then I could farm faster and better to get items to sell.

Even though I have put 500 hours into the game I still have more money then I do time so for me the best way to get gear is to buy it.

There are 3 points in which you climb too.

Point A. Being able to pass inferno. 2 Million. - 50 Million
Point B. Being able to farm efficiently. 50 Million - 200 million
Point C. Maxing out gear/stats. 1 billion +

I don't think I'll make the climb to C.

I can't comment on your gear completely cause I can't see the individual items, but your build probably won't work for your current set of gear. You have no signature spell, so you are stuck doing nothing when your are out of arcane. Your crit is too low regardless of how much ap on crit you currently have to go without a signature spell.

It looks like most of the cost of your gear is coming from attaching magic find to the items. Magic find is only useful if you're efficient at killing things. Kill speed is more important tha mf until you are strong enough to kill elites without much trouble. Again I've been talking about clearing inferno, not farming act 3 effectively, so working to clear, gear should not include mf

Dropping mf as a stat you look for and you can find a lot of upgrades for cheap. Crit/critD rings with a primary stat can be found for cheap <200k. I know because I've had to list items like that to sell them

I was assuming he had his Act 1 MF gear on when he last played.....If this is your 'real' gear everything said here is all true.

also I'd try and pick up a shield with 200+ int, all res, and 9+ crit. They can be had for less than 100k if you're lucky, and I think after the 1.0.5 a wizard just might be able to replace prismatic armor for a shield........also having a good wizard shield on hand is always nice.

As others mentioned, life regeneration. Also, your resists are really low. I guess it's because I've been playing HC lately that I focused all my characters to be defense oriented rather than damage oriented (shield with 20% block, 700 resist all, 1200 life regen and 800 life per hit).

I was completely flabbergasted when earlier in the chat room where people were all agreeing shields are useless. There seems to be this prevailing myth that dps > all, and it's really leading to a lot of horrible players (and dirt cheap survival int gear). The removal of elite regeneration has helped the zergers now that they don't have to concentrate on survival. I mean, when I beat Diablo with my wizard, I ended up being the tank for our group of 4 which consisted of 2 monks and a barbarian. I'm not lying, this was completely embarrassing.
 
So, I've given up on the gamble and have since started to collect ilvl63 items instead of identifying them. Anyone know if I can sell these?

Its been my experience also that no one buys unids anymore. You may get lucky and find a buyer now and then but its def not like it was in the past. For one, decent gear is cheaper than ever and 2nd, I think most people know by now that its not even a decent gamble, cuz its 99.9% certain that those items will be junk. Also, with 1.04, I think most people are farming themselves, upping their plvl and hoping for their own legendaries/sets. At least thats my take on it.
 
I found these last night. This was my first LEGIT find. I'm trying to hold out for a ton even though the HC community is small and there are not many "ballers."

Wow I don't even know what you should do with that in Hard Core. Only a hand fully of people will have the 300 million gold those are worth in HardCore.

For a Wizard/WD no I can't say I have seen better. Fire Res and Life regen are about equal in terms of value......but Fire Res on Ice Climbers is cooler. They should be called boots of fire and ice.
 
Yeah, a high MS roll instead of that fire res woulda been nice, but if you are complaining about those boots you are doing it wrong XD

I have about 500 hours, maybe more, and those Ice Climbers were my first legit drop. First ilvl 63 legendary after patch. I've found lots of other crappy ones though.

I'm not sure if you know this but you can go on bnet and look exactly what all the stats, ranges, and how many random properties an item has. After looking at this blueprint, it should be really obvious to dissect the rolls.

Yea I did, that's how I came up with that. It had to roll int to get over 200. I figured it had to be an int/vit + vit roll to hit 160+ vit.

Are you playing and buying items in a different region you're playing from (ie, playing on US from Europe or something)?

Edit: I can't thInk of any reason that blizzard would ever need a drivers license for anything. When my friends account got hacked and they put an authenticator on it, even then he didn't need his drivers license to restore his account.

How do you know you were flagged? E-mail, phone call, logging in to your battle.net account? Who said they need your drivers license and for what reason?

On the ticket, I called and bitched. It's because I use VyprVPN while I'm at work. He said that they are flagged because account hackers use it. I can understand that, but banning every account that uses the AH from there is too extreme.

I play in US region, from here as well. They unlocked it for me, but said if there's any problems now, because I use that VPN, I won't get a rollback and I'm "SOL".

I would say thats a pretty legit reason for Blizz to take action. I mean who uses a vpn for a video game? At least their letting you swim at your own risk so to speak.
 
I use a VPN from hotels around the world that would keep me from playing certain games otherwise. I would have a shitfit if they asked me for my goddamn ID.
 
If you have a decent home connection, you can just create your own VPN (I use the built in VPN service on DD-WRT router firmware , i'm sure there are more ways than that) , and it will just look like you're playing from your home IP. Plus it has no third party service or fee attached!
 
Man I'm lusting over a strong 2H weapon (read: Skorn) for a significant DPS boost. A decently priced one, about 30-40M, would be a 20k dps boost for me lol. The only down side as a Wizard is no AP on crit. But maybe I can do a weapon switch when in and out of Archon mode. Not sure if its worth the hassle though.

I've also started gear swapping MF again. I'm definitely getting more high tier rare drops, but overall, I haven't hit major jackpots lately (last big sale was IK belt from random white mobs so my MF gear didn't even assist there).

edit: just got a socketed tal's helm with int and dex from an elite pack... yay...

Puts me at 116k dps self buffed though. My HP is dropping dangerously low. I'll probably drop in some vit rubies in place of int ones until i can find better.

I guess my next upgrade should be my weapon gem, currently at 80%. According to http://d3up.com/b/12441#build-skills
If I drop in the 100% crit damage ruby (15mil), I'll gain another 4k dps. Once 1.0.5 hits and I can look into going pinpoint armor, that should add at least another 8.5k dps (1crit = 1700dps right now, more if i upgrade my gem).

I'm addicted to DPS!! I really should look at getting better legs and boots to up my survival, and shave off that MF (it could be possible that DPS/Survival > MF again depending on how monster power works). With monster power, hopefully I can keep up with high settings to get very high exp gains. I'd love to get 50-60 mil an hour..

Ever think it's my only option? It's not a legitimate reason to block someone's account. If I was doing something wrong, sure, but not because I use a VPN.

Oh, and it's 'they're'.
 
Bit the bullet and got a Skorn for about 28M. Sitting at 124.7k DPS now lol. I found that I could still do just fine without APoC outside of Archon mode, but I can't be in a situation that calls for insane Diamond Skin refreshes anymore. Reflect damage is a problem again and I'm not sure how much further I can push my EHP at this point without compromising damage.

edit: holy crap I'm on a roll with legendaries this morning. 3 set pieces and a bul kathos ring dropped. Nothing extraordinarily valuable though.

So after all my whining and bitching about the crap drops in D3, this drops literally 5min into my first game and I think I only had like 1 or 2 stacks.

lucky!!! I did 4 Butcher runs last night with 310-325 MF and got NOTHING!!!! Mostly lvl 52-59 crap. I got onlye 1 lvl63 rare 2 hander 1025 DPS with nothing fancy in the stats that wont score anything in the AH.
