Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I see a lot of people wanting to like a game. A lot of constructive criticism, feedback, and discussion. Even if I don't agree with half of the feedback, it's still healthy debate and perfectly legitimate.

Regardless of your level of satisfaction gained from D3, it had (has) potential to be something more.

agreed, it definitely still could gain from some updates and adjustments. Can't wait for the economy and items to change.

I wonder if they have been adding additional items to the game as it continues.

None, it would only really help deadlycuts. You are limited by cooldown timers and get far more dps and timer reduction via critmass from raising crit/crit damage.

When you are in the center of packs, the build is literally about spamming 1234 as fast as possible. The chance of a crit on chained explosion alone is, IIRC, 11% per enemy hit per explosion.

But aren't all wizard cast animations affected by your ATKSPD? And at least for me I always envisioned that faster IAS = more spec blades = more chances for crit = more CD reduction on skills. :p:D I haven't touched my wiz in a long time so maybe i've been out of the wizard builds. Mainly focused on my badass monk now :p

all that says is starcraft 2 wont come to consoles; who the fuck would port an RTS to a console anyways they already made that mistake with sc1 and the n64 and it was balls

Bottom paragraph:

Blizzard confirmed in January that Josh Mosqueira is “exploring” development of a console version of Diablo III. Even before that though, Blizzard had Diablo III controllable with an Xbox 360 controller. “One of the reasons why we’re exploring the idea of a console version of Diablo III is because we feel that the controls and the style of the game lend itself to a console,” said director Jay Wilson in September, “With some of our early experiments in putting a direct control scheme into the game via a 360-like analogue controller, I’ve been ‘Oh this feels even better, with direct control…’”

Info is a bit old, but nothing newer that I've seen.

Anyone interested in doing some MF runs? I've got a decent set with around 250MF. Just let me know.

yep, thats all my MF set can handle atm

i might be down.. that or my wizard could definitely put on some MF to get us averaged out a little better

but id rather play my barb

What are people paying for unidentified items?

I'm running a critmass wizard now, crazy fun. Right now I'm using a ~660dps, 80%+70% gem crit, 160int, 100 vit spear. Trying to find a replacement has been difficult. At 45% crit, around 200% critdamage and the critmass build is just amusing. 30k damage, 800-900 resists.

Anywhere between 100k to 650k for unids ilvl 63 bows. I'd rather gain money at a steady rate (selling unids) than take a chance at a roll for a high level item. I'm sure in the end if i play my cards right I'd be close to if I got really lucky out of my 10's of 63ilvl rolls and sold that for 10s of millions of gold.

I'm gonna repost this thought because I think I posted it like 100 pages ago and since we circled back to itemization again...

The loot isnt terribly bad. The gap between good and bad gear, even for ilvl 63s, is much much bigger than d2, and the curve for increasing damage is much higher steeper at end game (very very rare, but much more noticable damage increase as we've seen those over a quarter million damage). For example, the difference between a "bad" BoTD rune word and a high end BotD rune word weapons was pretty small, but a 63 ammy can range from not even worth the time to salvage it, to selling instantly for $250 on the RMAH. This is offset in D3 by more loot dropping, so getting 63's to drop is easier than getting any unique in D2, but that getting a great 63 item is much much harder than getting a perfect roll on a D2 unique once you got/crafted it.

What killed D3 for many is the way the auction house is setup. I have no issue with the AH or the RMAH, but what it changed was the perception of loot. You click RMAH, and you suddenly see items on the AH for 10mil+, but it is godly to what you have, so you suddenly think you need to farm 10million to buy it. Suddenly what you thought was "good" gear is now shit, and you only look at the godly items. Now the definition of "decent" gear is only what sells for millions, where none of those tier items are needed to clear to Diablo, or even make act 3/4 farmable.

Furthermore, you start farming, expecting to get those godly rolls for yourself in a few short hours, which of course isnt true. How long did it take you to find an etheral 6 socket hydra bow and the 6 runes for it? How long did it take to find 12 Ist runes and 2 superrior 6-socket weapons to duel wield? It's frustrating seeing so many 63's roll crap after a week of farming, but for me it was just as frustrating not finding good runes from countess after a week, or not getting any Elite Unique items from baal runs after a week.

The loot isnt that far off from going for perfects in D2, its just the AH changed the perception.

Dunno what I'm missing. As a kinda tank-y Monk with over 750 resists, 19k dps and over 5k ac, I can't move past Ghom.

Easy way to make money, Buy an obsidian ring of the Zodiac for about 600k and charge 10 bucks for it. Well ive sold 2 for £6.99 now. Unbelivable. Worst ring ever aswell

Ghom > Diablo now, thats why. :D I'm not sure if he's any harder against melee, but after patch 1.0.3, I haven't beaten him again with my Wizard. I haven't seen a strategy that didn't involve the help of others are simply overpowering him with high dps (way higher than what you need to beat the rest of Inferno).

Seems that way. My heals and skill loadout are fine for everything else up to that point, but...

I guess I need to be a 30k dps monk. That's gonna cost me about 20 mil more.

I disagree, I am sure there are players out there that feel that way but I know for a fact there are alot of players that hit the act 3 brick wall and can't afford any decent upgrades because a small upgrade can cost them upwards of atleast 5-10 million. Obviously gold inflation is 1 of the major problems with the AH prices but the drops also have alot to do with it. I have over 200 hours on my barb and everything but my pants I have bought off the AH. The drops were way better in d2..ya some gear in d2 i picked up from the trade room in bnet but alot of times that was because something of value always dropped I could trade with. It never hindered me from beating hell in d2.

I just went back to act 3 and beat him. It took a lot of attempts and I wasn't all that comfortable with the kill like I would be with other bosses. I guess you have to move just outside the AoE of his gas clouds and dps him till his next could forms. I don't know how well Monks can take him head on, but you'll have to try to minimize your movement throughout the fight. The 2 slimes were a real nuisance for me and his close-range puke attack was a real killer. I have 42k dps, 32k health, ~6.9k armor, and 988 lowest resists buffed.

He makes a cloud under himself as well as you, so getting the 2 to overlap will minimize coverage across the room.

If your gear is good enough that 5-10 mill per piece only provides small upgrades, then you should be well geared for completing inferno.

You can't really compare D3 to D2 based off of inferno progression.

You didn't NEED to be geared to beat hell in D2. So just because you now NEED to be more geared in D3 doesn't mean the drop rate is worse. So yes you bought most of your stuff off the AH, but you pretty much did the same in D2 anyway if you wanted the better/best gear. Difference is, you didn't need jack shit to beat Hell so it wasn't an issue.

The rate isn't the real issue, it's how they designed inferno and how they itemized stat distribution on gear.

Where can you go to see where your item falls in the spectrum of rolls?
Trying to price out some stuff for selling.

Plus these two pants. See, I just don't know what +17% magic find or movement speed or any of these stats are worth-

I agree 100%. I just wonder how many people think the way that Blizzard did it gives them a sense of enjoyment from playing D3 compared to D2. Are people enjoying D3 more or at least the same as they did the previous game? Blizzard has had over 10 years to figure out what their player base craves and give it to them. I wonder if they met their target demographic.

Are you ready to sink 5 years into Inferno runs based on the current game; not what they could patch in. Is it worth your time to spend real money to beat Inferno or are you pulling at straws to make yourself enjoy D3? Is buying gear as upgrades instead of farming it more satisfying to you and drives you to go on? Or would you rather get a great drop once in awhile that is within 10% of the best stuff on the AH.

Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at Blizzard headquarters when they debate topics like this. I'm quite sure they do all the time.

At least for the ones where you showed the picture I'm not sure I'd even list them. Probably turn them into crafting materials.

I put up a similar ring for 210k and it sold pretty quickly. Yours is better then the one I sold because the +armor is good. I would put a cheap gem in it to get the Dex to over 100. It should meet more peoples search criteria that way.

If you have an item like the boots with speed combined with only like 50 of a primary attribute its probably not worth much.

Hah... here's the math for a perfect roll: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6036676511

Although admittedly, you don't need perfect rolls on gear, it still sheds some light on the astronomical statistics involved with the current itemization system.

I do remember someone did the math for the probability of getting a ZOD when runes first came out. It was something astounding as well (on the order of farming for a life time and likely never seeing one).

gonna need more resist for Ghom.. personally I skip him cause hes kind of stupid hard.. i beat all of act 3 with the exception of Ghom :p

Played my barb in inferno and it is awesome.. unlimited super saiyan with all this crit :D

They have to nerf Ghom! He is so stupid hard it is a game stopper for most people no matter what gear you have on. I have 922 resist to poison and still die pretty quick.
