Destiny 2

Anyone know what this unknown is? Kinetic so its not 1K which I also don't have and is the only other Unknown to me (grumble...)

Maybe Izanagi's Burden?

(also check out that bug where Le Monarque shows up in Kinetic??)

How do you get rid of the ground becoming really dark when looking higher up?
When I look down at the ground, it looks normally bright. But when I look higher up where there's some sky, the ground and every object become pitch black. This is really frustrating as I'm not really staring at the sky, I'm just looking straight ahead. When this happens I can't see where I'm going. I also keep falling down to my death on Titan because I can't see where I'm going.
I tried bringing up the brightness and it doesn't help. I'm playing in fullscreen and maxed out details. I tried playing with the options but it's not helping. Maybe I'm missing something?

Are you playing in HDR? I don't but I think I see complaints here and there about some aspects of its implementation being broken.

I am.
I did try turning it off but I'm not sure if the change took place. I saw no difference in visuals.
Windows 10 also has a HDR option so maybe I'll turn both off and restart the computer.

I am. It works well for me. The only issue I have is that you get absolutely no light in caves, which can make navigating certain areas difficult. Outside of that, it improves the look of the game for me.

After 10+ clears of Last Wish and never getting a Chattering Bone or Nation of Beasts to drop at all (my Raid drop RNG sucks, hello 15 Apex Predators...) I decided to go through and get the easy to get to chests. There are two you can get to. You can be solo and don't have to fight anything. Titan and Warlocks can get both however Hunters can only get the first one so that's 5 Raid chests per week.

I just went through this and finally got both a Chattering Bone and Nation of Beasts both with Outlaw so I'm pretty happy. For the first chest, you don't need anything special equipment wise but the second, you'll need Worldline Zero on your Warlock and Lion Rampants on your Titan. Hunters, again, can't get the second one at all UNLESS you go in with a Warlock/Titan buddy and you respawn on him.

And again, this can be done SOLO and you don't have to fight anything!

These chests do NOT drop Powerful Gear but they are random rolled Raid gear so Armor and Weapons.

Saw this the other day, been meaning to try it

Thanks, turning HDR helped and now I can finally see.
Man, fuck HDR! :)

First I've heard of HDR problems on this game. It's been stellar for me.

Everyone's monitors are going to of course be somewhat different combined with drivers, version of Windows, etc. TV's in particular: Insure ANY and ALL black and contrast enhancements and gimmicks are DISABLED. Anything like that.

Let me see if I can foist some general info here and see if anything I toss sticks to the wall and maybe helps someone.

HDR being on should be a full positive for people that can run it in this game. Check drivers and all that usual stuff.

My monitor tends to run on the bright side but with HDR on my contrast is 40, tops, and my "reference nit" is 60. You can go to 80 if you absolutely must, at most, but for a lot of situations that's going to be damned bright. Glaring.

In game settings: Fullscreen, HDR on, look at the in game brightness slider and adjust per preference (mine is dead center and perfect), Ambient Occlusion off, Chromatic Aberration off, Film Grain off, SMAA, Render Resolution 100 percent.

Win10 Display settings:

I leave HDR and WCG off and let the game or application switch it on and pick it up when needed. I found when I left this on all the time non HDR material would give me that funky green washed out thing so default off is better for me. Destiny 2 and the two most recent AC games pick it up perfectly and I can switch HDR on in application.

Native Rez (4K in my case), 120 Hz, RGB, 8 bit depth.

Nvidia Control panel (in my case): I use "default color settings" and not "use Nvidia Color settings." You can play with that if you want. Not sure it would matter. I always defer to applications.

(Logically adjust per your own setups. Just trying for some ballpark frame of reference here)

Play around and see what you all can do because HDR dialed in right really looks awesome and in my case has made me have a better and richer experience. I can see things better and I'd be lost without it at this point. YMMV.

For the Izanami Forge in what I can hope is finally the last step: You have do this advanced version of The Insight Terminus mission. Power rating is 630 recommended and I'm 645 and I made it all to the end before I was simply overwhelmed. No way I'm getting this done solo and especially when they screw you and make start the entire thing over. Fool me once...

I did this mission from the Drifter that was like that. It seemed like a basic story mission which turned into a nightmare. The power requirements were crazy, shield types had to be hit with matched weapons, etc. That stuff is fine but we weren't expecting it. It was worse than a Nightfall strike with tons of modifiers enabled on it.

If you're on tonight we can run it. It's a super pain solo but doable with two.

Had my first 'group chat' with my fancy new mic, with what ever random guild I accepted an invite from, last night.. The thirty minutes of broadcasted bong hits by one guy was hilarious.

Thanks Destiny 2 for being everything I expected from a MMO.

Shame. If your interest was raiding, I would have suggested /r/DestinySherpa. Random clan invites can be.. iffy.

I got through every raid for the first time using /r/DestinySherpa and each one was probably one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. No pressure, everyone (minus the sherpa) is new and its just about having fun.

Yeah I haven't done a raid or what not yet.. just shooting the shit with folk while I was getting orientated in this Dream City thing. Will probably need to grind up a bit to get what ever group event happens to get another shard of light to get into the 2nd aspect hunt.

I'll keep an eye out for DestinySherpa when I feel up to a raid or two.

I want a Black Armory Hand Cannon. I'm seeing people mention streaking Gofannon to get it and then a bunch of people saying no dice. I just did Gofannon four times in a row and no dice. What's the scoop?

I have yet to see a hand cannon frame offered from Ada.

So there are the "nomal" Black Armory weapons you can get from killing Saboteurs on Nessus and EDZ, then the Forge weapons you can get by buying the Bounty from Ada-1 then completing the steps and finally "forging" it in the Forge. Incidentally, you can also randomly get "normal" BA weapons from running the forge as well.

The normal Black Armory Hand Cannon is the Bad News XF4354. Kinetic 110RPM Aggressive Frame, random rolls. So basically a Duke Mk.44. In fact, you're better off with a Duke.

The forgable hand cannon you can get from Ada-1's bounty is the Kindled Orchid. Energy (Void) 140RPM Adaptive Frame, random rolls. This is the one you want to farm for good rolls on.

My Surrounded/Rampage w/ a Reload Speed Masterwork is beautiful.

However, only certain weapons are forgable in each forge and not all weapon bounties are available from Ada-1 each week. This week, its the Hammerhead, Tatara Gaze and Blast Furnace (this one you also want to be farming) so maybe tomorrow we'll get the Kindled Orchid. However, tomorrow is also going to give us the 4th forge so i'm sure we'll be working on other things.

Ok. So maybe on the reset tomorrow she will sell me the frame that becomes Kindled Orchid. (I was interested in this)

Maybe, really don't know. It will specifically say Hand Cannon and will require a Ballistics Log to purchase. Each of her two Weekly Bounties will reward you with a Ballistics Log.

Same for me. I got well into the last part before getting overwhelmed. It might have helped if I'd ever done the Insight Terminus Nightfall before, but I'm mostly solo. I did get into a fireteam with a couple of others who had done it before, so I got it finished that way. I started playing my Hunter again a couple of weeks ago and got him to 50/645 so far (was 30/low 300's 2 weeks ago). I've done the first 2 forges with him, but no way I'm going to do the Izanami Forge questline with him. If I need Izanami Forge weapons, I'll do them on my warlock. I hit it hard for the pulse rifle when I first got access, so I've got a couple of decent extra ones in the vault.

I don't know if it was anyone from here but for grins I took one last solo shot... and while I was waiting and checking my gear someone named SOSBoss joined my fireteam and he kicked ass and we got that thing done. Thanks to whoever that guy was!

Ha, congrats! How did someone randomly join your fireteam though? Set to public?

Here's another Insight Terminus video that showed up in "recommended" after I watched the first one. This one has a few good tips about using void singe and grenadier to your advantage. From an earlier post here by criccio:
    • Void Singe: +25% Void damage increase (outgoing and incoming)
    • Grenadier: Double grenade ability recharge rate and damage

I finally got a Feeding Frenzy + Kill Clip + Range MW Blast Furnace, and it is glorious. It's about the only gun that makes my not use my Surrounded/Rampage Kindled Orchid + Surrounded/Threat Detector Threat Level Combo lol

I was all about my Feeding Frenzy/Rampage Blast Furnace UNTIL I got a Threat Level. I'm in love with that shotgun plus I love finally using a ranged energy weapon again (Kindled Orchid) instead of that slot being dedicated to my IKELOS.

That's what I love about this game, so many options!

Threat level is a great perk. I learned this when farming precision kills with a hand cannon in my quest for the Ace of Spades.

Question: How the fuck do you guys feed shotguns in the Crucible? You start off with two shots and aside from occasionally finding a pickup from a dead Guardian, that's all you get. Ammunition you get doesn't persist through death, but I see people firing shots like mad like the shit's everywhere. I've got most of the same shotguns everyone else seems to, but I can't get enough ammunition to make them viable outside of very rare circumstances. I've got special ammunition finder on three or four pieces of armor, so that doesn't seem like the issue.

Crucible is the most unbalanced and ridiculous PvP mode I've ever seen in an FPS game. Possibly in any game. Its core design is so flawed I hardly know where to begin. I'm decent at shooters and can usually hold my own, but every time I have to go into Crucible I have to prepare my anus for some serious wear and tear. It seems to me that the game is too RNG dependent and anyone who has spent a lot of time in this game has an almost insurmountable advantage over someone like me who's relatively knew to the game. Weapon balance is beyond awful. Some weapon classes aren't even remotely viable, or have one or two specific weapons that are ok, with the rest of the class being useless in PvP. I see people doing shit I can't understand like having their super's ready to go so early in the match, it doesn't seem possible. This is really evident in Mayhem mode where some people are ready to go with their supers when you first find them on the map while your super is at 75% if your lucky. Spectral Blades needs to be fucking nerfed into the ground. Its ridiculously overpowered compared to other supers. The cloaking aspect alone makes it OP as fuck. It almost seems like using anything else (or another class) is a waste of time and an exercise in futility.

When it comes to weapons and gear, the difference between weapons in a single weapon class is astronomical. The difference between some perks is huge too. Armor bonuses can have a huge impact on game play. This is annoying as well. You can't look the way you want, you basically have to take whatever has the best bonuses which is basically all up to RNG on the gear. It makes any decent looking gear without bonuses at all the equivalent of vendor trash in an MMO. Exotics are overpowered as fuck, which is fine aside from the whole RNG thing. Some of the better exotics have some sort of quest attached to them, but being new to the game and not having done all of that puts you at a huge disadvantage in Crucible.

Then there is the fact that many of the modes are basically indistinguishable. I can't tell the difference between "competitive" mode and regular 6v6 aside from the player count. Competitive mode is a joke as a really competitive mode should focus on seeing who's the most skilled and dropping all the crap that makes Crucible balance the absolute shit show that it is. Also, getting steamrolled by premades isn't new and to an extent, will always be challenging to deal with in any game. Why there isn't a "solo" mode to avoid that shit is beyond me. I probably have to play close to 10 matches to either make it into a partial premade myself or get lucky enough to get a decent group that can hold their own enough to have a remotely even match.

Anytime some PvE quest forces me into the Crucible, I want to Alt-F4 the game. Its painful as fuck and not something I want to do. It makes me miss arena shooters like Quake III and Unreal Tournament 2004 where all that mattered was skill.

PvP in Destiny... man, lots to be said. Being a primarily PvE focused player myself, I look at PvP in Destiny as a occasionally fun side activity. At the end of the day, you are correct, PvP's core is flawed and that's because Destiny is and will continue to be a PvE focused game and Bungie has made it clear that they won't take away from that for the sake of PvP balance. It's a tightrope they've been walking it seems like since D1 was released.

The sheer number of combinations of weapons and their perks, armor and their perks, exotics, supers and subclasses makes trying to balance something like that in PvP seem like a nightmare and I commend them for at least getting in the state that it is.

Spectral Blades at Forsaken's launch was unusable, for instance. Its hit registration was non-existent. They fixed that and people discovered the Gwisin Vest exotic chest that if you get two kills, you right click and go invisible and gain back a huge chunk of super. Get two more kills and repeat. You could stay in super THE WHOLE MATCH if you were lucky. It was hilarious but also stupid so the nerfed Gwisin Vest. Spectral Blades is still deadly but at least it ends eventually.

Its periods like that that I enjoy. The meta is always changing of what's viable and either you go with it, or get blown away. It helps that I don't take PvP seriously though, I get in for my Daily/Weeklys and I get out.

As for shotgun ammo, you just need to make it count. Round starts and say your first kill is with your primary and you killed a dude who hadn't used his special ammo yet. Grab it and now you have 4 shots. If you can survive and get some kills, this can build up quickly. My PvP loadout is always Ace/Wishbringer/Hammerhead. Ace for when holding lanes, and Wishbringer for running around. If you haven't picked up the Wishbringer from Shaxx, I highly suggest it. Full Choke/Accurized/Slideshot/Snapshot so its deadly in crucible, especially if you slide around. A well rolled Retold Tale has more impact/range but I'm bad so I need full auto.

On another note, last week Ascendant Challenge is the last one I need to get a Time Trial triumph on and I can't for the life of me figure out how to beat it any faster unless there is a skip i'm just not finding. Literally jump past every enemy until the Phalanxes on the boss platform, shotgun them, apply melting point to the boss, trench barrel him then cover him in Anarchy grenades and he's melted. Still no Triumph. Guess i'm waiting another few weeks to try again.

Thus far I think I like Izanami Forge the most out of all of them. I always like fighting Vex and I just really liked how that worked out. Spiteful Fang Bow is pretty sweet.

I love the twist coming from the first two. But man, being on the top platform on the second round is ROUGH. If i'm on one of the bottom platforms and die during the second phase, I just stay up top. Any batteries on the bottom two platforms eventually respawn up top right under the forge.

Pro tip about that boss though, the "shield" that you spin around to get access too him can work against him if you have Sleeper. Spin it completely behind him then if your whole fireteam nails him with Sleeper, the beams overpenetrate, bounce off the shield behind him and do more damage.

If everyone does this, he can be taken down in 3x Sleeper shots each which takes about 4 seconds.
