Holy cow, my clan got 3 1k Voices last night in a single raid....4 if you include the pug guy we were with. There goes our luck for at least a few months lol.

LOL sorry bro. It was some pretty ridiculous luck. I don't think we'll ever have something like that happen again.

Also, I got my Titan up to 50 2 days ago, and she's already up to LL 596. It's stupidly fast to gear up if you already have a 600 character and can transfer 3x 600 weapons and whatever 580ish exotic Xur is selling for the week. I still have a few powerfuls I could get, too.

So this is the current "go-to" for communication/grouping??

And thanks for convincing me criccio, I'm gonna whip out my wallet here in just a second for Forsaken.

If you haven't used it, Discord is basically the default voip program these days. That particular channel is pretty awesome for getting groups together to do stuff with. I've been using it for weeks, and I always manage to get a group together in less than 10 minutes. So far everyone I've grouped with on there has been pretty friendly/chill as well. I was worried there would be elitist asshats, but I guess if you're willing to go through a LFG channel, you're probably not going to be elitist by default.

I think I'll bite and get Forsaken as well. Played the base game on PS4 a lot and quit before the first expansion. Always wanted to switch to the PC though and now seems like a good time.

Once you start playing in 60fps with the details cranked a bit, it's tough to go back to the console versions of Destiny. They still look good and run well, but it's definitely night and day. Pad aiming is identical and still perfectly viable, too.

Ya the demo/beta right before launch kind of spoiled me with the high frame rates but I stuck with PS4 since I had more people to play with on it. PC version is in a different league when it comes to how it plays.

Speaking of people to play with, is there an active [H]ard clan? I won't be raid ready for a while but it would be nice to get in on the weekly bonus gear if that is still a thing.

I played at 4k 60fps for a long time, but recently switched over to 1440p 144hz Gsync. The game plays like absolute butter, and now 60fps seems so choppy lol. 1080ti keeps me above 120fps just about everywhere at essentially max settings (minus dumb stuff like DoF).

That DoF setting is a killer, especially when aiming down the sights.

I just upgraded from a normal GTX1080 and DoF was problematic with scopes and zooming. It would be no big deal 95% of the time but when it would bog down it would drop my fps into the 20's. That's pretty jarring, so I used 70% resolution scaling to stay over 60fps.

Just turn off the DoF, imo. It was worth like 30fps or something crazy for me. Totally not worth that.

Yeah I disabled it. I'm already pushing it at 3440x1440 on a 1070.

Got around to getting the Malfeasance last step finished... Then proceeded to not use it so I could run my Thunderlord. Saw the meatball twice in 3 rounds after that which was hilarious as so many have trouble getting it.

Kinda sucks being an exotic. I want to use it in Last Wish more but I need Whisper or Tractor Cannon for that.

In most cases I'd rather use a legendry than Malf. It comes down to using an exotic pistol, I'm going to use Ace. Ace is just better.

I love Ace, but Thunderlord is just so good that it gets priority for me. I'm sure there's a nerf incoming, so I'm enjoying it while I can.

Malfeasance is like Rat King in that it is better when more people are using it. Everyone's slugs stack, so with 4 people using it, you're getting explosions nonstop. It absolutely melts the Taken in gambit when everyone is using it.

That said, I still rather run my 1kV or Queenbreaker because I find the pvp portion of gambit to actually be the most important part.

Honestly, that's just a problem with D2 overall. As it stands, exotic heavy weapons are just so much better than the kinetic/energy ones, it's pretty hard to justify not using them. Even with something like Ace of Spades, you're probably better off going with a decently rolled Duke Mk 44 or Midnight Coup and using whatever heavy exotic suits what you're doing.

I finally got through the forsaken campaign, now to try and get my gear lvl up so far seems to stick at 500 with one 505 item.

Going to see if I can get ace of spades

That sort of thing has been the bane of my existence forever. I'll have one item that holds me back. Depending on what it is and how many levels back it is, it can even affect "powerful" drops so that they're the same level as what you have.
I've been pretty lucky for the last couple weeks (I'm finally to 580), but I've gone through periods where I'd only gain a level a week. The good thing about Forsaken is that there are like a dozen opportunities to get powerful gear per week. Some aren't feasible until 520 or so (the "Wanted" quest and hidden sectors in the dreaming city), but most of them are.

Tons of changes there. The one that immediately jumped out at me was for Spectral Blades. I used that a bit when Forsaken launched, but went back to the tether most of the time. It feels like for a super you're supposed to mash out, that causes them to whiff like crazy. They work okay vs. massive enemies or huge groups of mobs, but nothing inbetween.

To me, the biggest change is the trench barrel nerf.

There was a point where it was awful but the last twab or the one before they made a lot of changes to hit reg on spectral blades and it improved a lot. It's insane with the Gwisin Vest exotic chest.

No changes to Thunderlord in the update. :) I just got a new powerful rewards helmet with "Machine Gun Reserves" for a perk. That boosts Thunderlord's max ammo supply from 220 to 265 rounds. Nice!

And I just got around to grinding EP for the shotgun last week. :( Still a nice shotgun though.

It's honestly still probably the best shotgun right now. You just have to melee every 3 shots. Still a decent nerf, but it was so far ahead of everything else, even the nerfed version is probably still the best. Also, they are adding a new kinetic shotgun with trench barrel, so that is pretty cool and opens up a bunch of new options for the energy slot.

I've had it for a few months and honestly, I'm excited for the prospect of something else in that slot being viable. Mixing things up weapon wise is part of the beauty of Destiny.

On the other hand, we're getting a new kinetic shotgun with Trench Barrel :-p

Ok so, I'm going to put myself out there total noob-style.

I'm like level 14 and I'm going through the Titan planet I believe?

Is that how it works, general campaign - hop along a series planets?

Do I get any sort of Forsaken stuff from the get-go? Or is that like late-game/expansion campaign?

Basically I need a D2 for Dummies, but I don't wanna waste 3 hours watching youtube videos (if it can be avoided)

I'm leaving work in a few minutes so I can't type it all out now but if you go back a few weeks in this thread I have some big posts going over the most efficient grind. Until you're lvl 50 though, just keep grinding the campaign.

There was an option for a character boost that would stat you at Lvl 30 and 330 power but then you'd miss the whole campaign which is worth playing the first time.

So this is a "Diablo 3" situation?

Ie. It's worth playing the campaign legit at least once. After that, "we have our ways".... etc

Regardless, basically it's "play Halo 2.0 until you hit 50"? lol

Yeah, you'll want to proceed with the campaign. That's essentially the core of the game. Once it seems like you've done most of the plot (and killed what seems like the final boss), the game will open up and start sending you to other "end game" areas and whatnot. You can pop into gambit, strikes, crucible, etc. as well.

    Ok cool.

So it's typical fare. End-game is where it's at (as I expected)

During the campaign though, what kind of MP elements can I engage in?
