Destiny 2

You just need to know what to do. This weeks nightfall is actually the easiest. Clear the area first before doing the hoops, take your time and shoot them from a distance. Then start the hoops and you will get every hoop easy and you should have 12 minutes for the boss.

edit: we missed almost every hoop for the last section with the crane things that move in a circle and still had about 12 min

I made it through on my 2nd go. As long as we can agree that the hoops thing is a stupid mechanic.

It is but I appreciated the help I read in here because I didn't know what to do, either. :)

There are more fun ones. The first weeks was the most fun because you had unlimited grenades basically. Loved it.

That Nightfall really is a PITA. No way I'm going to get that done by myself. I guess I'm not just that good of a player. Screw it. I'm 270 in a 240 and that damned clock combined with the cheapshots you take with the conveniently long deaths? Time to do something else.

I'm done with this game until they get matchmaking right they should focus on that before any new content.
I'm all FPS shooted out from this game makes you appreciate any other good RPG out there.

I tried it solo as well just to see what it was like...not good. I find it perplexing that they release an MMO-esque game with zero in-game public communication. I'd settle for a few "n-bombs" over feeling like I am playing with glorified A.I.

In the game's menus, I see options for voice chat and all that in addition to the text chat option.

It says "1-3" on that Nightfall mode... I'm here to tell everyone it absolutely needs 3 players together unless you are SUPER awesome. If they're only going to get even harder then that will just be like on the first Destiny where there were certain game modes I simply won't get done.

Yeah personally I think I'm ready for Shadow of War now :)

Is there a way to lock inventory items so you don’t accidentally dismantle them?

Getting hard locks so bad I'm having to reset my BIOS to get the machine to start up again. Also, absolutely massive lag. Enemies rubber banding all over the place. This game seems to be pretty far from actually finished.

Those public events are distracting :p I'll plan to play the game for 10-15 minutes to complete a mission. Next thing I know, I've been playing an hour and am waiting the 3-4 minutes for yet another public event that fell in my lap.

I've been at level 20 (with all of my abilities for all 3 sub-classes maxed) for a while and I only just completed all the missions on the 3rd planet. They definitely streamlined the leveling up process.

Anyone know if the DLC missions will reach the PC on the same days as the console version or will be be waiting a while?

You think a game is causing you to have to reset your BIOS?

Haha, no kidding...sounds like he has a bad OC and this game is the one that is finally pushing it over the edge.

I have no OC at all. There are threads thousands of posts long on the Bungie forums about this games hard locks. It even does it on the PS4. They know and admit it is a problem. After a few days of hard locks with sound loops and having to shut the PSU off because the computer is so locked even holding down the power button doesn't work I am having to reset my BIOS to boot up again, whatever the game is doing it isn't doing my hardware any favors. I have zero issues with any other game or software, only this one.

But what does that have to do with resetting your BIOS? Makes absolutely no sense. Only time my BIOS has ever tried to reset was from a bad OC or another hardware issue.

Cut off your machine under load a few dozen times with the PSU switch and see if it starts to act weird.

I think you are conflating the issues here. I have no doubt you are experiencing hard locks but then you edited your post and said this:

I am not sure how this is even possible? Alternatively, you could power off the machine from the PSU switch (as you said) - that should not require "resetting" your BIOS in any case.

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues, but this honestly does sound like a HW issue somewhere. Whether that was brought on by repeatedly hard booting the machine, I couldn't say.

I'm not conflating anything, I can avoid Destiny 2 for days and everything is fine. Intermittently when I play, it hard locks. My only option is to use the PSU switch, and then after that I have to reset the BIOS to get the machine to POST again. I can run P95 for 20 hours straight with no issue, ONLY this game causes the problem and its fairly common from what I was reading. I have a cheap ASRock board and I guess it doesn't like being powered down improperly so many times, who knows. Once again, I should have avoided posting anything about it on a computer forum, because game developers can never have problems, its always the user 100% of the time.

When it's locking up your entire system it's typically not the game though. It's usually the game hitting your system harder than other games you have.

It happens whenever a new hardware intensive game comes out. People will say "X game breaks my computer!!!" and it's really just because the game is using near 100% of their CPU and/or GPU and causing it to overheat or not getting enough power draw, or they have old incompatible drivers, etc.

No no, it's just me.

I've been playing a LOT, and I've never had a hardlock/crash.

My game would lock up while going to Orbit with my ghost but a patch that came out last week fixed it.

It has been 16 years ago, but back when Vampire the Masquerade Redemption came out the game would crash at the same point while climbing stairs every single time. I tried every fix in the book and the company even gave me a refund when they couldn't figure it out. Then out of the blue a motherboard BIOS update fixed everything. The game was bulletproof from that point forward, too. Strange things can happen with PC hardware, but that's pretty unusual.

With Destiny 2, I haven't had any technical issues since launch day. I had some hiccups and at least one crash, but they game has been patched 3 times and Nvidia has released 2 drivers since.

Once I complete the main questline - are there any strike side missions (other than the big raid) that involve working with other players anonymously? I kinda liked those, but I haven't seen any thus far. All I have left plot-wise is the final mission.

So how many days did it keep your interest?

Well, the PC version came out on Oct. 24. I've been playing it for roughly a couple of hours a day give or take, on average, since then.

It's a really fun game. Shooting mechanics are great.

I haven't lost interest per se as much as I feel like I'm at the point where there's certain activities where I (and probably most others) would need some other players to help me in to do them. That's fine. Some people crazy people could do it all solo... I can't.

I probably should post my handle here and have some peeps from here friend me. ;) It's ValguardTVE.

I would have joined the forum clan here had I not joined a friend's clan first. :) If that falls through I'll be jumping over immediately.

The story mode was decent but I certainly would not buy this game just for that.

Grinding and looting are definitely the underbelly of this series and I don't mind doing some of that to a point if I have a compelling reason and goal to do it but, for now, I'm starting to run out of those.

The first DLC is due on December 5th so I won't have to wait too long.

^^ This is what it was like for a lot of people on the first Destiny game short of the outright junkies who put in 1000-2000 hours. That's not me. ;)

I'd say I'm around the 40 hour mark thereabouts and that number will climb with each successive content update.

On the first Destiny when all was said and done I probably hit around the 120 hour mark in total and I would expect to see at least that much on D2 by the time all is said and done with it. Great value for my dollar overall.

New 388.31 nvidia drivers released today. Massive performance increase in Destiny 2, supposedly up to 53% improvement.

Wow, there's a content expansion already coming in a couple weeks? Man... I miss the early days of games like EQ, UO, and even WoW (my least favorite). Finishing all the content in a month should be something like 10% of the player base does in an online game. I'm kind of glad I didn't give in and buy this. I was damn close too.

Pretty nuts what kind of performance increases those new drivers are pulling. I dialed my settings in a few weeks ago, but now I'm tempted to bump things up a little. Not sure if anyone else had this, but at some point (either via this driver or a game update) my brightness got bumped up. I thought my eyes were acting up, but my in-game brightness slider was only one notch from max.

i didn't get the brightness thing but i can confirm the new drivers are great. last week i dialed a couple settings back to get my minimum framerate above 60. last night i turned everything back up to max (resolution scale at 100% though) and my minimum framerate remained above 60. i'm reading elsewhere that these drivers fix DoF. apparently if it was set to the highest setting it was bugged and killing performance. I don't know if there's truth to that, but i have indeed had DoF at the highest setting since release. anyway, i'm happy to have the free performance bump.

Based on all the reports, this is one of the biggest driver performance gains (on a major unbroken title) in a long, long time. I've been using resolution scaling as my performance tool of choice, so I'm going to try bumping it back up to 70% (from 65%).
