Delta Force

Tried it again, but just feels like a mobile game.

Most multiplayer games these days do. CoD, Battlefield, etc. Seasons passes, dozens of pointless events, weapons locked behind crazy grinding. And those are full priced AAA games to.

I wasn't even talking about all the paid cosmetics and upgrades or 7 day unlocks. Just the way it plays reminds me of the various shooters on mobile. Shooting just feels like nothing. It just feels flat with no difference based off the gun in hand and firing might as well be paintball guns.

That is largely due to the sound design, which isn't that good. Recoil isn't far off from Battlefield 3/4. For a mainstream game it is fairly realistic. If you want more recoil use the larger caliber weapons.

I just saw an ad for the multiplayer-----which made it sound just like Bad Company 1 and 2's "Rush" mode. Which means.....I may actually be interested in this.

Its way ahead of where bf2042 was when it released. I like it enough that I'll give it a chance when the release the full game. Its gonna be hard for them to shake the mobile game feel but it does ok at most of what it does. Good filler between the next bf game IMO. I won't play COD/Warzone anymore, bf2042 is just burnt out, this game kept my attention for most of the alpha. Never was a looter/shooter kind of guy....I still don't think I am but I like the version of it in this game.

Be curious to hear what you think. It didn't feel like anything changed to me.

It seems like the same game. Their Conquest like mode was locked, so now I unlocked it and will try it later. The biggest problem is the sound design. Everything sounds flat and lifeless.

Is this game any good? I did not play the demo so have no clue about it but I heard it is a better battlefield? Is that accurate? Decent player base etc?
I need a large map shooter that doesn't suck ass.

Players levied a lot of criticism to the game and toward the developer for seemingly not listening to their feedback during the last beta period. It looks like that they were actually cooking for this beta, as people sound happy that the developer seemingly was listening to their feedback. I'll probably give it a try if I have time this weekend.

A lot of Steam comments are saying it installs kernel-level anti-cheat without informing you, and then doesn't remove it when you uninstall the game.

It says it right on the Steam page.

Other kernel-level anti-cheat programs like Easy Anti-Cheat and BattleEye need to be removed manually after uninstalling a game that uses those, too. It looks like ACE needs extra steps to remove it, though. I've always been able to remove EAC by just using the "uninstall" feature in Windows.

Yeah if they uninstalled it when you uninstall the game it would break any other game that use that anti-cheat software. They could have an option to also uninstall the it when you uninstall the game if it isn't there already.

So is the actual game any good? The trailer kind of gave me "we have call of duty at home" vibes at first, but they kept showing more and it looks seems pretty big budget. But it also seems like they're a lot more focused on all the customization than the gameplay itself.

Interesting, virtualized cheats. Wasn’t aware of these before

Countermeasures from Delta Force:
  • Kernel-level security collaboration: Since the Open Beta, we've worked closely with Microsoft to leverage Windows kernel security features to combat cheats. These features are being rolled out in Delta Force to safeguard our gaming environment.
  • Detecting illegal virtual environments: G.T.I. Security has deployed a comprehensive detection strategy to pinpoint these hidden VT-based virtual environments, exposing cheaters wherever they are.
  • Combatting cheater advantages: VT cheats often grant unfair advantages such as wallhacks or aimbots. G.T.I. Security has proven strategies in place to detect and penalize these violations effectively.
Our Commitment
G.T.I. Security is aware that continuous improvements in anti-cheat measures are the key to keeping Delta Force fair and secure. We will continue to invest in new anti-cheat strategies and features, optimize detection technology, and step up our enforcement efficiency.

Meanwhile, we call on all players to join us in resisting the use of cheats. Report suspicious accounts and contribute to maintaining a fair gaming environment.”

Seems this was a swing and a miss for them so far and needs some more polish/time.

Cliffs: he says it's one of the best looking shooters he's seen. Performance is abysmal in spots, though (23fps on a 4080/12900K/64GB). Launching the DLC requires launching Delta Force first and keeping it running as a separate executable, tanking CPU performance. Melee is missing unlike the base game. Cannot pick up weapons & ammo dropped by enemies. Fairly buggy and unpolished leading to a feeling of being very rushed. Sounds like it has potential and some fun moments though, so hopefully they'll keep working on it.

Based on the Delta Force franchise reputation and some reviews comparing the game to Battlefield 2042, I thought it would be something very similar to some slightly-older Battlefield games. But nope - the game feels much more high-paced, like a CoD game. Way too much going on, weapons/tactics that feel "magical," fast respawns, not particularly huge maps, annoying and overly-extensive unlocks. That might appeal to some people, but it's not what I wanted or expected.
