DC Vault

Congrats Eric on the 1 million points !!
Keep up the good work.:)

What video card and what power supply?

How do yall check BOINC points?

I can never get Free-DC to work? How do i register, where is the login?
Am I just being stupid?

HOLY CRAP

You guys are on team [H]ard|OCP
Im on team Hard|OCP

EPIC FAIL!

I have over half a million points on BOINC now, and I never even noticed I was on the wrong team, wtf!

You may not be on the wrong team - different projects have different team names. All the new BOINC projects we've started as Commandos have been under team [H]ard|OCP, but team 33 is shown as [H]ardOCP for F@H (and SETI for that matter), and WCG was first begun under HardOCP...

Your current 632K points for folding are showing up for the right team, don't worry about that! :D

You can create a login at the "Forum" button at the top left of your stat page.
Then to add projects to your stat page that you are participating in you just past in your CPID number "fc93398a1772a6e309d6e4375069dc23" next to the projects that are listed under the "statstool configuration" link on the left side of the page and put a check in the box next to it so it will be updated and click the "Update" button on the top or bottom of that page and the next time stats are updated it will add those projects to your stat page.

The videocard worked on past units. It might be the new WUs. My GPU does not support much, oh well. I planned on getting a new one anyways. Most likely a gtx260 or similar.

Perhaps try that 8800GTS with PrimeGrid CUDA GPU work units and see how that goes.
Not sure if it supports that version of card or not I do know that they will run on the G92 version.

Eric - I used to run my 8800GTS 320mb on RC5 and it would do about 4K PPD. I seemed to rack up quite a good number of points fairly quickly. Its not quite as easy as a BOINC project but still not hard to setup. :) Good to hear your i7 is stable!

Yeah I played around with Dnet from before with the GPU (I actually had it on my desktop.) I'll try it out tomorrow and see if that is stable.

The card is a g80 card so I doubt it will work with Primegrid.

Man we are getting killed in Aqua. I havent run that project in a long time so I downloaded one WU to see how it would go. Aqua is not putting out any more CUDA WUs correct?

Edit: Well the Aqua unit I downloaded didnt seem to run so I paused all other CPU WUs I had running. It seems that the one Aqua WU takes all 8 of the logical cores on my i7. So i guess the folks over at Aqua have taken a little different approach than the other BOINC projects I have been running. First time I've seen that. Maybe this one WU will be worth a ton of points. :D Estimated completion is a little over 10 hours. Also worth noting - it seems to only be able to use about 95% of my CPU on average even with a Collatz WU running as well.

Edit2: This Aqua WU is taking about 74MB of RAM as opposed to the 300-500MB per WU that the NFS units I was running were taking. :)

Edit3: From looking at some stats on FreeDC of recent production of people running Aqua these WUs look like they might be worth a lot of points indeed. I saw several people who were running Q6600s that had 38K point days yesterday. I'll let you know in about 10 hours how much the one Im crunching was worth. :)

Well the first Aqua unit that I completed was worth just over 38K points and it took about 26 hours despite being estimated at about 10 hours originally. That was on an i7 @ 2.8Ghz and 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM.

If I have understood what I read on their forums correctly these WUs are going only to machine with 4 or more cores. So if you have a "spare Quad" :D come join the fight. Nearly 38K BOINC PPD out of an i7 is pretty sweet.

I'll try and run through some of the WUs for the next week or so and see if I can stop our downward spiral in that project.

Whoever is working on EulerNet - Nice work! I tired to find stats for the team but was too confused by their site. So Im not sure who is working on that project but nice going none the less! :)

EulerNet is the only DC-Vault project I've been working on for the past few months. I believe it is only tr0ach, Razor, and myself at the moment.

Yeah I seen Tobit or tr0ach put in about 1k hours into EulerNet the other day and my 1k hours finally got sent in yesterday from my old laptop (at least it's doing some good). We are making slow but steady progress there.

I'm currently hammering on Ibercivis in case it gets added to the DC-Vault, then I will move onto some other CPU project. I have turned off my GPU's for now and am running CPU projects to conserve electricity for the next few months.
I think this will be an acceptable balance for cost saving for the time being.

I was just drinking a cup of coffee and checking stats when I noticed that ...

tr0ach hits 25 million in Collatz !
Excellent work my friend !

400k+ RAC in Collatz can be achieved with 5-6x HD4850 or 4x HD4870 and/or HD4890.
I can pull 600k+ RAC with 2xHD4850 + 2xHD4870 + 2xHD4890 in Collatz and/or Milkyway.

tr0ach I am going to dedicate a couple cores to Cosmology and come help you out. Looks like there is lots of inactive teams to pass there.

Razor or others who have ran both Collatz and MW@home on an ATI GPU - Do you see higher temps on MW@home?

I fired up a few MW WUs tonight just to see how they worked with the new BOINC client. Noticed that my GPU is running 5-6C warmer than it was on Collatz. Are you guys having similar experiences? Just curious.

Yes I see Milkyway runs much hotter and uses more power than does Collatz.

Looks like eon was removed from the Vault this evening due to there being no work available for quite some time now. We had about 6K Vault points in the project.

been talking to a couple others.. looks like they plan to migrate EON to boinc which would be much nicer then running a 4-5 clients just for multi-core systems..

Went home this past weekend to find out my parents were messing with the switch panel for the power, all of my machines went down. Once I rebooted them all I installed my new motherboard for my older Core 2 Duo so I should be running at full power.

I have been working on a lot of Bonic projects but I need a new goal whats a good project to work on in the near future?

Hey Eric. Good to hear from you man. With so few of us anymore its hard to recommend a project but it looks like Razor and tr0ach have been working a little in Sztaki Desktop Grid, and it looks like we could easily pick up a few spots there.

tr0ach and I have been working a little on Cosmology as well. We moved up 3 spots there today. :) Some help there would be great as well. Lots of teams there we could jump. I'll be moving my i7 over to Cosmology as well in a day or two when I finish the Aqua work in my queue.

EDIT: Oh and congrats on hitting 1 million BOINC points a couple weeks back! Nice going!

RC5-72 would run very nice on a 5850 but it isn't a BOINC project.. it has a native Stream client.

BOINC project for a 5750?

Hi Nitro! :) I would take a look at Collatz. I would actually be very interested to know what kind of PPD numbers that card will do. Im running a 4850 and a 3780 on that project and was thining about getting a 5000 series card. :)

You could also run Milkyway@home but I have found that project runs the card a little warmer. But if heat isnt a concern the points should be prett consistent with Collatz.

Thanks for helping!

EDIT: Tobit beat me to it. :D RC5-72 is a good project as well but isnt a BOINC client. Not too difficult to setup though.

Ok well i have collatz running on my 5750 @ stock so we will see how it does :)

I was also checking out Collatz for an ATI 4890 or 2 and would be curious about CPU utilization with that project if I run it on GPU(s) only.

My 4850 at stock clocks does pretty well. A 4890 or two would put up good points in the project. As I mentioned above you can choose to only run GPU units so no problem there. Collatz claims 5% CPU utilization. But with several apps open, music playing and Collatz running on one video card in my system, my i7 is still locked at 0% occasionally bumping to 1%. Very low CPU usage. :)

Ok. With the new bonus structure on the a3 SMP folding client I can regain some of my lost points in F@H by reducing the CPU utilization to feed the GPUs. I'll try it out when I get home from work. I will soon reach rank 100 and 5 million points in F@H so it's time to branch out a little.

OK well heres the first set of results for my 5750 on collatz

I've got my 2 4890s running on Collatz now. They are completing units in about 12-12.5 minutes on each card. They are on stock clocks but they are running hotter than F@H could get them when OCd.

guess its a good thing to know that there is actually a program out there that can use an ATI card to its full potential unlike F@H..
