There are a few who occasionally look at the DC Vault stats like myself, Alan and possibly others. I'm actually a bit disappointed that we don't have a more respectable standing than our current position suggests, which is not even in the top 100. A deplorable standing if you ask me.
Having said that, I can't estimate to what degree our involvement in one or two additional projects will affect our DC Vault position. Maybe it will bump us into the top 100, I honestly don't know. Part of the problem lies with this team's history and how we have had only official participation in no more than two projects at a time (one at present).
Although the lack of official support has never been an absolute impediment to involvement, it has limited this team's exploratory efforts in 'alternative' projects for whatever rationale of the time was not viewed as viable (ex. SETI). Traditionally, [H] team members frowned upon projects that had little potential benefit for humanity. This has also been my own position in regards to personal DC involvement.
All of this does not imply we don't possess the necessary resources to tackle many other projects if that became an objective. Indeed, if ARS can maintain the #1 spot for near a decade, we can certainly do better than we have done to date. I remember reading on ARS' forum when they had lost the #1 position to us in F@H, the consensus of their multiple team leaders was far better to drop in F@H than sacrifice their overall standing. Different team, different philosophy.
Almost 1 year from the beginning of this thread 12-19-2008 and we are pushing at top 10 from then position, I would say we are doing pretty good !!Being ranked #123 isn't nearly [H]ard enough.
