DC Vault

OK, my i7 is finally back with a new Velociraptor C: drive. Now maybe I can get some extended testing of the overclock. It's still running 8x W@H (installed the new beta 13). I still have to fix my desktop, but that can wait until tomorrow.
 
arg.. W@H servers are on crack again... all 8 cores i have running are sitting idle now with no work being received..

I believe they are working again... At least they seem to be working for me.

I started running Majestic-12 myself. I now run 2 instances of W@H Majestic-12 and RC5-72 for the GPU for my main desktop. I think it is maxed out. :)

Would there be any gains if I ran majestic-12 on multiple computers? All I see happening is having very slow internet.

You'd better hurry up - I finally added gpugrid to BOINC on my non F@H machine, so only 1,456,345,765 days until my 8600GT catches you! :D Oh, wait, it'll probably explode before that...

On a more serious note, this card has the shaders OCed to 1457, but the core is underclocked down to 200MHz, as that let it run about 5C cooler while folding. Now that I'm doing BOINC/gpugrid with it, should I raise the core back up, or is gpugrid more SP dependant?
 
no there would be no gains running it on multiple computers.. though you can change the various settings to use a certain amount of barrels(url packages) and bandwidth.. i believe mine was set to 25 barrels(packages/connections) and 5mbit for download 512kbps upload.. for some reason comcast no longer likes me running majestic-12.. if i let it run for 10-15 minutes my internet completely shuts off until i restart my modem..

Just put GPUGRID back on line because I can't have you catching me that fast. :D
GPUGRID is more shader dependent but also relies heavily on gpu core speed as well.
 
it doesnt rely as heavily on the GPU as those annoying 511 point WU's for F@H.. my 8800GT generally runs between 44-46C on gpugrid and 51-54C on those 511 point WU's.. but there are so many different gpugrid projects.. each one acts differently.. some are heavily gpu dependent.. and some are all shader dependent and dont use the gpu at all..
 
Well, I reflashed the 8600GT back to the original BIOS, and even with that, I'm 3h10min into my first WU, and only 5.024% done - I hope this card can beat the deadline! Maybe if I play less Guild Wars tonight...
 
if you are talking about gpugrid.. its not the deadline thats the problem.. its hoping you finish before the 2 other people working on the same unit as you.. otherwise you'res counts as redundent data and you get no points.. on avg for me.. as long as i finish a WU within 15 hours of starting it.. it will usually count..

i have the same problem with this system.. because i play a lot of ET:QW.. so i have a lot of redundent data resuilts on this computer and almost none on my other system..
 
Looks like we got another team in W@home. Good work guys! Looks like the next two teams on the list are a little more active. We should be able to track them down but it seems we might need some continuous output to keep the positions.
 
I am backing off W@H for now.

We could try and catch more teams but we would have to focus on W@H and other projects have alot more teams that are dead above us.

I am going to focus on SoB for now and see how that goes. I'd really just like to get it above 8000 points.

Yeah I probably should not have put the 2ghz Celeron on yoyo@home. Its on hour 58 with 11 hours left. Damn you Muon units!

We'll catch the next two W@H teams later this week. Then I'll keep running for a while to give us a cushion before switching to GIMPS or NPLB.

In BOINC, I'm still running Cosmo to get past the dead weight, but that was our last BOINC project below 8K. Now the goal should be to reach 9K on every project. I've started with the Misc projects: Yoyo and Nqueens.
 
Yeah I have been working on the Math projects to get to 9K. Made it in SHA-1 and RCN. Almost there on RC5. I've got a couple cores on ABC and Enigma to try and get those one up there as well. I'll keep two dual cores on W@home until we pass the next two teams. That will give us a pretty decent score in that project (~8500).
 
yeah im still running W@H on my dual core.. not worth changing that one right now.. and running SoB on all 4 cores on this system..

I am right next to you I am trying to focus on the math section as well with SoB and RC5.

Oh sh-! :eek: haha

My whole farm is up and running now well have to see what my update is tomorrow to see if that quad really is working out as well as you say.

I think I used to be able to push out about 2.3 to 2.6T a day.
 
it takes me about 4-5 days to finish a full work packet per core..




my x2 6400+ only does about 6 million cems/s total for both cores.. just to give an idea of how much better the phenom II is.. :p

I spent some time tonight setting up our unified team page at Free-DC:

As of now, there are still about 20 project additions waiting to be approved, plus we need to be added to the OGR-27 and RC5-72 stat tracking. Check out the page tomorrow to verify that I didn't miss anything. The list should include all Vault projects except for a few that aren't tracked (like GIMPS).

I use Free-DC to track my personal stats, since it's really easy to link from the master page into the team page for individual projects. They have some interesting sig graphics too, like this:

How did you get your non Boinc projects to show up in your stats page SazanEyes?
I have tried adding my name to those projects under the Stats Tool and check the box but it hasn't worked for me.

On the project's team page, click on your name. Look at the name= part of the URL, and that's what you need to copy and paste into the statstool page. For example, your Eon ID is 10d1b78a80967024fde0378fb6866ce3.

On a side note, for Razor & Sazan - any idea why you guys don't have any Teamrank, but tr0ach does? Is it just part of the strange bugs that affect Free-DC's site? :D

Looks like the teamrank magically showed up. :)

There's also a milestone graphic for teams, but we don't have any yet. The problem is it's based on BOINC, and there are a lot of different spellings for our BOINC team names (specifically the old ones where we have the most points, like SETI).
 
Sirmonkey I noticed you are still using the old clients for SoB. The new client is 15% faster I would suggest updating. I am running all new clients and have had no problems so far.

The biggest problem I've had in the past was logging in to the forum, but when I went back to use the statstool it would keep telling me that I wasn't logged in. Of course, I tried it today, and it seemed to work, so it might have just been that my old failures were due to using Firefox 1.5 then vs. Firefox 3.0 now... :D I know I need to give it a day for all of my stats to populate, so I'll look around more over the next few days, and if I have any issues, I'll let you know!

On a side note, it looks like GPUgrid is a no-go for me - I'm having the same issue that I had with F@H: since my gaming computer uses XP fast user switching, every time a family member changes to their account, it causes the app to crash and send back an Computational Error... I'm 0/6 thus far, so I think I'm going to just throw in the towel on this 8600GT in this system! Oh well, can't win 'em all, right? :confused:

Yeah, it looks like crimson tide2 didn't mean to join our team, because he left. We'll still get there, though. I'm back to full strength as of yesterday, although I wish the W@H client was working better. Latest news is it's a conflict with IE8, but I'm not sure if I completely believe that.

thats crap because i dont have IE8 on any of my machines and the beta 13 is totally effed up.. it refuses to connect to get new projects.. which is why im running SoB on my main system.. im to lazy to go in and delete the W@H folder and reinstall beta 10..

That would fix THIS computer's problem, but then I'm sure I'd build THAT computer with an even better GPU, and would then be right back on here bitching about not being able to borg that one, too!

i did that with my mother when i bought her a laptop.. a friend of mine had one of those massive apple laptops.. and gave it to her for her birthday.. was the most funny shit ever.. :p then the next box was the real laptop..

I actually just bought my wife an Acer Aspire One netbook for her to websurf on so she can stay off of the home computer more, and I find myself wondering if the 1.6GHz Atom processor in it can run BOINC... Now that's what I call a DC'ing sickness!

lol no the atom 1.6ghz cant run boinc for shit.. dont waste your time.. even my athlon xp-m 2400+ is faster then that processor.. and it takes me 75% longer to finish a project on that one then it does on my quad or x2 6400+.. hell prime grid.. the fast ones that take 10-12 minutes on my 940.. take 3-4 hours on my 2400+..

ill jump on it and run 2 cores.. i just want to work on getting rid of as many dead weight teams in front of us on SoB.. or ill throw my x2 6400+ on it..

as for the gpu ones.. can you keep gpugrid running forcing it to use the gpu and keeping aqua from not using the gpu? or are you pretty much screwed and it does what ever it wants?
