Crysis: Warhead reviewed (IGN)!

Yeah, this is kinda pissing me off. Assuming Steam even gets around to letting me dl the game today, the servers will be so slammed I won't be able to play it until tomorrow. Only I'm busy all day tomorrow and thus will have to wait till Friday. Pointless bitching on my end? Yeah. But it makes me wonder if I should have bought a hard copy instead.

No it wont.I downloaded Clear Sky in 45minutes after it was released. Steam has no control over when a third party game is released on their platform, but they definitely make up for it with fast download.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing as well, steam will get pounded, we won't be playing for a while.

OOPS, we shouldn't be talking about it, it isn't gameplay or graphics related!!!

hehe, j/k

Those are byproducts which result from some part of the game. It doesn't matter how you slice it, DRM is, in fact, part of the game. That stands to reason it can be discussed in the games thread.

That depends on your definition of 'the game'.
Some may look at it as everything that they got, including the box, manual, DVD and everything (so they can even discuss typo's in the manual, how they don't like the box art, or that their DVD wasn't entirely scratchproof or whatever).
Some may look it in a more narrow sense, like for example whatever you see after you've installed it, started it, went through the configuration options and started playing.

I think the DRM-guys are going to have to meet the others halfway, you've already 'stolen' at least 5 pages with that stuff. Let's give the others some space to focus on other aspects of the game now. The DRM-debate has no ending anyway. It's pointless to continue arguing because nothing will change until EA/CryTek change their minds about it.

Well I guess that is where people differ. I tend to think of the game as everything that it encompasses, which is why sometimes talk of the developers gets into game threads and a host of other non specific game play topics.

I can see your side of the story though, and true, there has been a lot of DRM talk here, so I won't propagate it any further.

Typically though, the DRM talk usually dies off in a couple of days (in specific game threads anyways) after the game is released. usually, the game gets announced, and we can't talk about game play yet because of lack of the game, so we talk about everything else we can.

Then, the game comes, everyone installs it, every (pretty much) forgets about the DRM, and then the threads focus on the game play.

At least that's the way they look like they pan out to me. :)

My local EB games (gamestop for you?) is apparently getting 5 copies today, so lets see.

Yep just picked up my copy from EB, Steam was too slow, sorry.
So did I.

I'm downloading from steam right now :). I am remoted in to my home PC and from the looks of it I should be able to play when I get home from work. :)

So I'm playing now. Frame rates suck. Aside from that, why is it telling me to press "left thumb stick" to crouch and "A button" to jump. I thought this was a PC exclusive?

do you have your 360 controller plugged in? I know in the original that it would do that if you had a 360 controller plugged in(being that its a games for windows game it has to support the 360 controller).

I'd just like to point out that you answered his question.

You like to, he doesn't it. Argument over.

Fixed it for you I think you need to go back to where he first asked me and I gave him not only my personal anecdotes but circumstances and experiences outside my own. He won't accept my personal reasoning so I provided more examples.

Yeah I realized I had it plugged in after the game crashed and upon restarting said "360 controller detected" or something. Didn't know it did that.

downloaded and played up to the point where the island freezes on the sub......

great game so far... much more entertaining than the original..... and holy crap that chase/follow scene was awesome......

framerates on my HD 2400 are great too. Even with the way more intense action and way more enemies on the screen, the game runs very well.....

so far, i'd way its a solid 80% overall, while the original was a 70%, very awesome!

Good. I want EA to know I paid for my copy.:D (note for the sarcasm impaired).

Honestly, the next person that hijacks a game discusion threade with their DRM rants should have their balls put in a vice and covered in fire ants.

I am away on business so I can't start my Steam download and check it out. How folks digging it?

I might have to pick this up. I just got Crysis the other day with my video card (can't beat free games), so I guess I'll play that and then Warhead. circuit city has it for $25 at the moment.

I just came back from Microcenter with a P182 and Warhead and so far I find it good. I have a POS PC but it does it just fine. AI seems improved though.

how are the guys with just 2 gigs playing this game on higher settings? I was at 377mb ram usage in the task manager before I started the game and alt tabbed out and was at 1.94gb. thats just on mainstream DX9 settings at 1024x768.

i just beat it.....

i liked it way, way more than crysis in the end.... really..... the gameplay was so much more satisfying in this one.....

the o'neal backstory was a nice addition i think, with the audio logs and all.... I really enjoyed that....

overall: 80% .... great game! (i'm very picky with games, to me, a 90% is legendary...)
