I second the newegg boycott as shenanigans. I just check their site and there's no indication of them getting pulled.

my view of this is they should hire this guy he obviously knows their tech and can help their driver teams make useful drivers not useless ones ...
Listen, Creative knows how to make the drivers. This guy is just rehashing their drivers, he isn't making them. Creative by decision, is not supporting old soundcards in a new OS. It happens. They didn't give a shit about him taking their drivers and repackaging them until he asked for money from people for doing it.

To Whom it May Concern:
While it is not our place to condemn the decisions of Creative regarding this issue, our customers come first. That being said, it has come to our attention that many of our customers are not happy with the products Creative has released nor the support for those products. To wit, we have processed nearly 5,000 return orders within the past 48 hours. While it is not normally in our best interest to publically comment in a manufacturer's forum, the overwhelming concensus has left us little choice. As such, effective tommorow morning newegg.com will suspend sales of the sound cards in question, particularly those indicated as "Vista compatible", pending an investigation into the matter. Those of you whom recently ordered such a card will still recieve your product as indicated in any relevant conversations. While we regret this abrupt decision, it has been deemed neccessary to protect the interest of our consumers. We welcome contact from Creative as soon as is possible so that we may resolve this issue.
Thank you,

I call BS on that too, no company is going to do that. They're in the business of selling things to make money, they don't really care what a company thinks. You think morals have stopped NE from selling junk in the past? (saying this as someone who buys stuff from NE).
Seriously? I mean come on, they're only sound cards.
With 5000 returns, I dont think NE would be making much...if any money off a product with that high of a return rate.
I do however feel that the post is a fake, if it is legit...the god damn new egg sells a lot of sound cards! The post however looks fake, and the bottom 3 links didnt work for me.
It has to be a fake. Since when does Newegg all the sudden care so much about the consumer over making profit? Not only that it would be considered terrible business practice to announce it publically on Creative's forum. If they did something like this it would be done quietly. The products would be removed from the site and nothing else said. It would be the first time I have heard of the Egg removing a product because of questionable support and doing it very publicly.
Um, getting over 5,000 Creative cards returned to you is NOT profit.
The post is real. And, if you think that post is terrible business practice on the part of Newegg, I'd say they pretty much guaranteed themselves a boost in sales. Perhaps of some non-Creative video cards? Maybe? Ya think?
bitgod, check the registered email address of the Newegg poster, it says webmaster@newegg.com. There's a very good chance this is legit.

Um today's featured Sound card..... Yea so um I guess it was fake LMAO.
I'm confused. Was Daniel K's driver stuff just for the Audigy in Vista, or did he have a whole X-Fi version as well?
I still haven't installed Vista, but am wondering what drivers I should install for my X-Fi Gamer card when I get to it?
I tried to get people off of Creative stuff years ago. But this being a gaming forum, Creative has always held this weird position of the market, far past the MIDI era, wherein they create these proprietary 3d sound nonsense and declare themselves the nvidia or amd of sound cards. And people eat it up. In reality, CPUs have gotten so powerful that sound processing is no longer a framerate eater. 5.1 sound will become the rule of the day. And creative, rather than adapting, just markets the crap out of something which ought to be quite simple by today's standards. But people go around touting their EAX "features" and stuff, meanwhile they're supporting a company with the worst driver model in the business. And really, all a closed standard like EAX does is make old cards obsolete faster and impedes choice and PC gaming progress.
Did CL ever update the post today?
The Creative forums are a complete mess now...you post a serious question, and you get people posting pics of an X-FI in a toilet full of crap (besides the soundcard).Fake or not, I've just laughed my ass off reading the thread over at Creative's forums.
For a while it was on track, but then some fanboy made the mistake of sticking up for Creative and they pounced on him like a pack of hungry wolves.
I was going to register but the process is way too long just to tell Creative they suck.
But it was entertaining reading, nonetheless.
