CDW Outlet Finds

Corsair has some cases in the outlet that made for a great deal if you're local and can pick them up at will call (if they haven't stopped will call):

CC-9011023-WW that's usually around $60 shipped for $29. Keep in mind that if you need to ship this, you're probably looking at near new prices so better as a local deal:
https://www.cdw.com/product/corsair-carbide-sr-10bay-midtower-b/5975700?pfm=srh

CC-9011048-WW that's usually $100-150 even used for $77. Again, a big case so shipping might kill the deal while local pickup makes it a solid deal:
https://www.cdw.com/product/corsair-carbide-ser-air-540-arc-wht/5980229?pfm=srh

Each of these may have one more drop left in them, but it won't be too much I'm guessing. I have seen cases hit the $20 mark though, so they might go there.

New feature in the outlet as well--condition of the item! I don't know when they implemented this, but now you can see if an item has been opened before or if it is brand spanking new:
Used, like new - https://www.cdw.com/product/lvo-m75s-1-r3-3200g-1-8-w10p-bstk/6014438?pfm=srh
Factory sealed new - https://www.cdw.com/product/lvo-m720t-i5-8400-1-8-w10p-bstk/5987436?pfm=srh

These designations don't show up when you're searching the outlet, but only on the product page itself. Also, it seems they have stopped putting specs on the outlet item pages and instead link back to the original, full-price item for the specs there. Also a quick way to see how much CDW will normally sell the item for. (y)

I called them to find out if these designations change anything in terms of warranty or return policy, and they do not. Outlet items still have a 30 day return policy and the warranty is still the full factory one for the item as it normally would be for the condition of the item (ie refurbished items might be less than new).

I found this SONNET Breakway Box 550W Thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosure. Seems like a decent deal if you are in the market for that sort of thing. I'm not, so I'm passing it along. https://www.cdw.com/product/sonnet-breakaway-box550-thunderbolt3/6010482
This is one of the things that's really amazing about the outlet. If you need something that's not too common, it may be sitting in the outlet for a fraction of the cost of new--you just have to search for it and find it. ;)

Just picked up a GTX 1650 Super for $87 + tax (free ship) from my rep for my son's i5-8400 box. Its' a pre-built so airflow is not so great & the GTX 1070 full length card that barely fits in there works but gets the whole box super hot.

Wow, that's a killer price! Was that the outlet one or a new one? All the reps I've had have been worthless. :(

Shipping kills most deals from CDW. Some items have insane shipping prices 😔

You can use your own shipping account--I've done that a few times to save a few bucks. Most of the times if shipping kills the deal, it's not a solid deal yet. ;)

Some of the cheaper items Ive looked at are heavily discounted but the shipping ends up being $30-40 for something like a monitor. Other times the shipping for something like a monitor shows $15. Ive got my own Fedex account with heavy discounts so maybe I can use that and save some money.

Shipipng for me was $10 & change, but my rep will sometimes throw it in for free...which he did. Even if shipping was $20 I don't think you can get a 1650 super for like $115.

Is one assigned a rep or do we have to ask for one?

I don’t know if I should do a chargeback at this point. CDW won’t issue a refund till the damage product is in their hands but the tracking they have shows that UPS picked it up and is halting the package back to them for some reason.

Your company should have a rep assigned if you buy a lot of stuff or do a lot of software licensing with them.

I got the outlet one (thanks!) pretty happy with it, even if the price wasn't as awesome. The kiddo reports Terratech is way less laggy :)

Wow, even for heavy things it's usually been $20-ish for me. If you've got a heavy discount Fedex account, I would definitely try it. I tried my UPS account a few times (also with good discounts), and it wasn't worth the few bucks it saved.

Nice. You get better shipping rates than I do, but I stopped haggling with them on the shipping--time to start doing that again. :D

This is a pita. I've gotten burned twice with returns. I'd call them, talk to customer service and have a date in mind that is well inside your chargeback time period by which they need to fix the mess. If they don't, chargeback away!

Sweet! How much was it total with shipping tax and all? And how much did you save over new? I'm always excited to hear the savings. :D

Yep, and even if you buy a bunch of small stuff over the years, they'll assign you one. We've been buying since the 1990s and there's always been some 'rep' there, but after being burned by the one we have/had, I'm never going that way again unless they fix the mess he created.

With tax and shipping it came to just about $135; new would be $185 from amazon with tax (although out of stock, estimated available may 4). A couple weeks ago I picked up a color laser printer for $123 all-in vs $250 from amazon. Wouldn't have looked for that if not for this thread.

That's pretty killer--You've already saved $150 so it was like getting the video card for free. (y)

I wonder how much I've saved over the years...

In these trying times it makes me feel sane again to see SamirD postin dem deals. Bout to cruise for mobos.
The only two motherboards I've seen recently is the MSI one I posted earlier which is a z390 for $60:
https://www.cdw.com/product/msi-mb-z390-a-pro-atx-lga1151-ddr4/5998516?pfm=srh

And an EVGA x299 ftw for $170:
https://www.cdw.com/product/evga-x299-ftw-k-motherboard-bstk/5994184?pfm=srh

Both pretty solid deals where they sit now at pretty much ebay prices for open box new. (y) If you want to press your luck, I believe there's one more drop in these. But as I learned today, sometimes your luck runs out--I didn't get my Seagate Exos 8TB fulfilled even though I called it in and checked stock. :( Looks like someone got in an order right before mine, so it got allocated to his order. :( Oh well, that's the luck of the outlet! Win big or lose big, but when you win big you actually win and when you lose you don't actually lose anything, lol.

8TB Seagates 4kn 2M MTBF 7200rpm 5yr warranty for $159/ea ($19.875/TB). Probably not going to drop lower than that as it's $100 less than b and h. 12 at this price right now:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?outlet=1&key=sas|ST8000NM0065&sortby=priceasc&maxrecords=72&ln=2
So I was wrong about these not dropping more--now at a mouthwatering $135/ea ($16.875/TB) Makes you want to just grab the sas controller I just posted above and enjoy the enterprise goodness. Why shuck when you can have better?

Another solid SAS drive deal--6TB 7200 5yr warranty enterprise goodness at a ridiculously cheap $14.83/TB at $89/ea:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?outlet=1&key=ST6000NM0095&SortBy=PriceAsc

They have 12 of these in stock right now, 5 at a slightly higher $95/ea $15.83/TB) that will drop to the $89 price. The $89 price will definitely be the lowest these will hit before liquidation. :)

Do want, but I have no SAS in any computer, so what are my options to use them?

All you need is an sas controller that supports the drive size. ebay and other places are littered with them. :) There's also this one which I posted recently that's open box for the price of ebay used:
https://hardforum.com/threads/cdw-outlet-finds.1970140/post-1044558923

Sas is another world of performance and reliability too as almost all sas drives are designed for enterprise workloads and demands, which far exceed what most consumers will ever demand from their storage. (y)

Your CDW-G pricing may be much better than normal prices. Otherwise, it's tough to find deals in the outlet that match the easystore prices, although imo the value is much more since the outlet drives can be enterprise and/or sas which much more reliability and performance. You're going with sas on the freenas, right? There's some solid deals on sas drives right now.

10TB HGST 4kn 2.5M MTBF 7200rpm 5yr warranty for $190/ea ($19/TB). There's one at the $190 price so far and the others have yet to drop to that. But at this price there literally 1/2 of CDW's normal price for them. 17 total drives as of right now:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?outlet=1&key=sas|0F27402&sortby=priceasc&maxrecords=72&ln=2

Hope this helps! And if I've just saved you a ton of cash, I take tips. :D And tips can come in the form of hardware too. ;)
And amazingly these drives have dropped in price--$135 ($16.875/TB) and $160 ($16/TB) respectively, which puts them in the same price range as shucked easystore drives.

I don't really see these dropping any more as they are now discounted more than 50% from CDW's normal sales prices--but I could totally be wrong as I thought they would not have even dropped this low.

What would you guys do? I have a 4-port QNAP TS-451 with four 4TB HGST Reds in it in RAID5, which is almost out of space. Should I get four shuckable 10-12TB drives (2.5 - 3x more space, which will last me many years) and reuse the QNAP, or build my own NAS with these 10TB HGST drives and a SAS controller? I could probably recoup $400-$500 on ebay for my TS-451 with the four 4TB HGST drives. I don't use any of the built-in apps from the QNAP; it's solely just a NAS for me to access movies etc.

Also, if I did this, what solution would you recommend that will allow me to easily set up an off-site backup at a friend's house? Thanks.

I feel you might be in my situation where you just use your nas as a file storage system. If that is the case then replacing the drives in the QNAP sounds the cheapest and easiest. A friend got me to build my own nas system though and with the recent smr debacle that might be the safer route. I used a dell T30 as the base and use freenas as the nas os.

Freenas can backup off-site and that is what I do to my parents house. However I do it through a vpn connection so unless you have something similar there may be better options for this. I know sycnthing https://syncthing.net/ works well for copying things across the internet and might be something you can look at as I use that to back up my uncles photos.

Looks like MSI has some seriously good stuff in the outlet that may drop one more time, but just slightly if it does as it is already at 1/2 street prices. :)

MY 1650super ddr6 arrived today, brand new unopened card (security seal in tact). was just an open box! score! Thanks for the posting!!!!!

Holy Crap! Did CDW raise their shipping prices? Bought a UPS a month ago and shipping was $100, was looking for another similar one and they want $175 to ship it!
