Sweet, I'm getting Conqueror's Package which I think is a lot of money for a game, but still, I want that costume and headstart. US is some $10 less than EU if I buy for $99 instead of €99.
 
I did upgrade my package to explorer but the conqueror package isn't worth it in my opinion. My main would be Ranger and that particular armour doesn't look good on her. Why? Lack of pants or longer skirt and taller boots. It's something that I wouldn't buy thus my money would be wasted.

Valid point. It does look bad on certain classes. It does look cool on sorceress though, and I'm planning to play that class.
 
Each region had two servers, right? It doesn't matter what server you choose since you can switch freely between the servers (on same region), right?

Each Region has 2 servers with 10 channels each.

Your character is only on your Main server of choice but you are free to jump between the channels within that server.

So if you make a Character on Orwen you can not play on Edan with that character.

Character and Family names are Region unique, not server unique so if a server dies out, they can be merged into a single larger server without naming conflicts or forcing players to rename.


North America servers:

Edan (10 channels)

Orwen (10 Channels)


Europe Servers:

Alustin (10 Channels)

Jordine (10 Channels)
 
I don't get why mmo's haven't stopped making displayed player names have to be unique. It's entirely possible now to allow players to use duplicate names and still work. Just have their friends list and things be tied to their account name or a unique game name that isn't displayed, similar to Blizzard and other newer mmo's that have got around this.
 
Is there an East Coast server? Or are they all located in the same physical geographical area? I ask because even though I have TWC powered by Google Fiber 300↓ & 20↑ internet, I can't play on West Coast servers in Texas and further from me.

Well it messes with the Role Play when there are 15 Han Solo in one room.

There used to be personal reputations on a server so it mattered then. These days it seems like there are too many fish in each pond for anyone to stand out much. I don't know if they care so much as it's just habit now.

Both NA servers are in the same place unfortunately, really wish one was in Chicago.

That used to work ok when mmo populations were smaller and servers were like <2,000 people. These days of having mega servers and instances a lot of mmo's have a server that hosts a LOT more people.

On top of this some games for some reason require your name to be unique for a region, so even if there are like 10 servers in that region the names across all have to be unique, which is bollocks.

You know how many people probably have the same name? How many people have John as a name? Or Jack. Also names like Han Solo are going to be restricted like almost any mmo.

What doens't make sense is the game uses a "family" name apart from your character name, but it only checks each name instead of using both. So the game could easily have let people be "x" name and have their family name be different and be ablet o easily identify different people, but it doesn't.

So for example, if your family name is say "little" and your characters name is "Jack" and then another person goes to make a character and makes his family name "Jones" and tries to make his character name "Jack" the game won't allow it, even though the family names are different.

I'm pretty excited! My guild, PRX ( www.prx-guild.com ) is rolling on Edan. I'm playing a Sorcereress. I'm most excited for the siege and castle PvP. In our last game, ArcheAge, we've held a castle on Kyrios from the time they're available to now (15 months!) and had a lot of fun defending it.

Can't use my character name until Kunoichi is out so i have to make one for my tamer once it launches in 8 hours, so i don't know what my tamer name will be yet.
 
They added a 3rd server, and lowered the cash shop armor from $32 to $29 to prevent people saying the costumes cost more than the game.

Yeah the cash shop is still over priced like a mofo.

Not paying $29 for an outfit and weapon skin lol.

$10 for an outfit and 5 for a weapon skin is about the top of what i would spend for something like that.

Id rather go spend my money on star citizen, and get a ship with that money. which to me is a much more tangible digital item, which will feel more like a home or castle compared to a character outfit.

and they didnt even lower the prices on anything else in the cash shop, dyes or other stuff. Only pets and costumes get a discount during the 3rd-14th sale.
 
Wildace is correct here. This is bloody infuriating, but sadly par for the course for any Korean developers (note: I didn't realize that Daum was a mega-dev that also owns the Kakao messenger/community service. No wonder they just squeeze people as a hard as possible). Worse of all, note that cash shop items sometimes offer exclusive benefits (ie underwear or outfits with stats, only available on cash shop. They also broke down armor/weapon skins into "outfits" which look more or less like clothes, and "costumes" which are like the camouflage suit and fish suit. The interpretation is only the "outfit" types will even get the meager sale price! Some of these, costumes especially, grant major in-game benefits it is being reported. The "grass suit/camouflage" for instance allows you to remain invisible (turns off name plate, map showing etc.) to monsters and even other players in more circumstances than anything else! Offering such a minor sale is very frustrating. I am convinced that if they were player-friendly with their pricing (ie making costumes and other items account/"Family name" wide, costing at MOST $10 etc... ) they'd make a fortune in volume sales.

Not that Daum will give a crap about this, but people like Wildace and myself are willing and able to invest "whale" money in a game system in which we believe. I feel inclined to mention that one reason Star Citizen got my investment was because they did NOT play this kind of crazy bullshit. If the only way to get the "fancy" ships, or even "special versions" of said ships, were to pledge the big money? I would not have backed Star Citizen nearly to the level I have done so. Every sale they have, there's a "You can win all of these items in game, so all you really need is a game key. If you want to start with a particular ship and contribute to making this game's scope expand, then buy. Otherwise, its okay - you wont' be missing out if you're not a whale" message. This, combined with things like going back over existing content to update/rollout etc.. is in staunch comparison to many of these other titles by Daum and their ilk where they seem designed to milk the populace as quickly as possible before they give up and move on...hopefully to their next game so the cycle can begin anew. /rant over.

So apparently it's three servers per region now. I guess I'll be on Croxus.

I may end up buying outfit for my ranger but I sure as hell will not be doing that for alts. That would be crazy expensive. Once per year max. It would be a different story if they would make 'em ~10 €.
 
So I was playing on Edan and they shutdown my channel. Now I don't have access to those characters? I need to create more characters on Edan? I thought that the characters went from channel to channel as long as you stay on the same server? Or is this just a glitch?

Or maybe I'm doing it wrong? Edan, Orwen, and Uno are the server names and Velia, Balenos, Calpheon, Serendia, Mediah, etc are the channel names correct?

In beta I had sometimes an glitch where it wasn't showing my characters. Trying to join the channel again or selecting another fixed it.

Though... Apparently they have some NA server issues.

Yes, the channels that were shutdown are still down even now. We can't play those characters or see them.

So if I add my preorder package to Edan, is it all but guaranteed that my buddies will be able to play with me? When I tried to add them in my account it said that it was a one time thing for one server only and it can't be undone. But I did want to be able to use my costume and extra character slots. But if say at launch when my buddies buy the game, and suddenly EDAN is locked due to population, then I'll be pretty much screwed.
 
They moved my lost characters to another server called Orwen on NA. So I guess I am supposed to delete them since I want to play on Erdan?

There was a bug on Serendia channels where you were placed on the wrong servers. Jousuka said delete your characters if you dont want to be on that server and start over.

NA Server Character Placement Issue Resolution

Greetings Adventurers,

As previously announced, there has been an issue for the NA Servers. Character made on the Seredia Channels were placed on the wrong server, this issue was limited specifically to the Serendia Channels. We are now in the process of correcting this issue, unfortunately the characters affected by this will remain on the server they are on currently.

If you do not wish to continue playing on that server you will need to make a new character on your preferred server.

After our analysis it has been determined that due to the limited number of player impacted versus those not impacted and the amount of time invested, this is the best course of action. To perform a full wipe, or to manually relocate the Serendia characters would simply take too long and would nullify the benefit from the head start period.

We will take measures to ensure that everyone is able to claim their pre-order items on the desired character, regardless of where they may have ended up due to this issue. We are also looking into compensation for the trouble this has caused and as soon as it is determined we will update you via the forums.

All name related issues, both character and guild, will be addressed. Once we have determined the best course of action we will update this thread.

Thanks for the information. Are you'll going to send your preorder items to your characters? Going by the number of "Crowded" population levels, I'm scared that my buddies that start on March 3rd won't be able to log into my server.
 
I already sent mine, but they never showed up so im waiting on what ever fix they do so i get them. I believe it is paused so no one gets them right now.

Which server are you on? im on Edan, channel velia 1

Dang everyone here rolling on Edan? Going on Orwen for a guild, would have been nice to play with some of you though.
 
I thought someone said you can switch servers anytime you want, as long as it's in the same region.
 
Servers going down for 3 hours a maint. lets hope it fixes the package items, id like to wear my armor outfit lol.
 
Maintenance, damn. I just finally got a chance to log in!

Is Edan the server of choice? Thinking of finally trying to meet up with some fellow [H] when I have the time :)
