Thats about what you would get on Deepbit..
I started a DB, moved around to about 5 other places, but DB seemed to be the most stable and steady, I just with they had a more graphical website like some of the others..

Might as well jump over to DB and join the [H]oard...

Can anybody tell me more reasons why I should possibly move to simplecoin (besides that I'd like to join up and help with [H] miners) or Deepbit versus staying with BTC Guild pool? We get a bigger percentage of every coin but a smaller pool finds very coins overall doesn't it?

My farm does up to 4.5 GH/s. What would I make on simplecoin or Deepbit? Deepbit and Slush were out of the question because of their fee structure. Pools can live off transaction fees and donations, otherwise you are being skimmed off the top. Slush and Deepbit make thousands of dollars a day off the backs of their miners. Why mine on Deepbit? What positives are there? Why are there so many [H] miners over there?

I mined "for free" with BTC Guild right up until they had that extended down time due to DoS attacks. When they came back up I had far too many connection errors, miner idles, and stale shares but Slush was great so I just stayed with Slush.
 
You gain absolutely nothing from going to Deepbit or Slush or Simplecoin. BTC Guild offers the best payouts of all the big pools. You simply can't beat 0% fee with a decently sized user based pool. Slush and Deepbit have a mandatory 3% fee and if you choose Deepbit's Pay per Share the fee is ~7%. BTC Guild will have teams implemented down the road but E has been working on getting automatic payouts first.

Deepbit is the largest pool. It makes up almost 1/2 of the bitcoin networks hashing power.

I used to mine at BTC Guild but got sick of it being down all the time. I was paying the 2.5% for immediate payout and payment of invalid blocks. So moving over to deep bit at 3% wasn't a big deal. Especially considering i lost well over 3% with all the downtime BTC guild was having. Deep bits auto payout is also a very nice feature.

Sorry, it was a typo. Bigger pool was supposed to be BTC guild :) I am on BTC Guild. In all the time since I started there (about a month) there have been no downtimes or issues with stales. I moved there from bitcoinpool which was horrible for downtimes and has shrunk considerably because of it.

Would it be better to make it a general mining team thread? I say this because I know for a fact Eleuthria is going to implement mining teams on BTC Guild as well.

Cool. Well, for the moment the only place that has teams up and running is Deepbit, once there are other options available the thread can be updated (Though I don't remember if you can add a poll after the fact, someone who knows better feel free to fill in)
 
one thread with all the teams infos sounds good. If we want to settle on one primary pool I'm OK with that. I would be fine moving over to btcguild once they implement teams and auto payout so long as they dont have a week of down time again. I find deepbit handles DoSs much faster.
 
yeah.. I got tired of the pool-hopping, I just seem to have less issues with DB so Ill gladly pay the 3% for the stability..

Is there any downside to using such a large pool?
Aside for the obvious fee here..

I've never had any downtime on BTC Guild for a month.

I used to only mine on btc. It was great until that great DOS about a month ago. I moved out as having idle miners for days was pointless. So it was off to DB.

I tried going back to btc maybe a week or so ago. I dont know what happened. Worked fine for a day, then idle messages. They were doing testing and combining all those old servers to their 2 now I think. So my miners went up and down constantly during that time. Lost another day of mining during that time. So after all that, I've just been sitting in DB. Steady and working. I'm sure E got his game together finally and it'll be safe to move back. Still, I rather get a steady bitcoin and not worry to see if my miners are working/idling or whatever.

3% fee is nothing. I lost more then when BTC went down and couldn't move my miners off before going to bed. So that's why I really haven't been complaining about DB. Looks like BTC gotten a bunch of bad luck recently as well. Yesterday they were down -50%. :eek:

Probably untrue, but it sure feels like DB is luckier. It'll all balance out.
 
I'm a bit confused with that one. So mtgox is only covering the lost funds of bitomat users right? not all users of mybitcoin?

That's still pretty cool. Just want to make sure I understand.
 
Mybitcoin is/was an online wallet service, an entirely different beast than bitomat which is an exchange just like mtgox.

P.S: The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that this merger had been planned all along and the bitomat "loss" of coins was simply a cover story. Bitomat's owner cashes out selling everyone's coins on mtgox and crashes the value of coins temporarily in a calculated way. Mtgox gets a not so modest injection of coins and they might've also bough a good chunk of them at an incredible bargain price (coins dropped to $6) along with the coins from people who sold in panic. In the end they extract some nice liquidity out of the whole thing and mtgox is in an even stronger position as the dominant market leader.[/tinfoil hat]

I am still with ARSBitcoin. I don't remember the last downtime we had, sometime last month for a few hours I believe. Solid pool.

If anyone here is looking for higher density cards, Im currently needing to trade my Reference 2gb 6950, unlocked shaders, for 2x 5850's + cash..

I have a 5830 + 5850 + 6950 in 1 rig and between CCC and TriXX they dont play nice together driver/OC wise..

Seriously? You want to trade a card that does 400mh/s for 2 cards that will do 600+mh/s together and cash?

What brand is it? How about a 1GB 5870 straight trade? 5xxx series will play together and you'll retain the same hash rate. The 400MH/s for 600MH/s & $$$ is unreallistic as DooKey pointed out.

yup.. thats the problem..
When it was in my main rig with my other 6950, it played nice and CCC+TriXX worked fine, but in combo with 5830 and 5850 it doesnt even register in CCC, so I cant get the boost.. Max I get is 360.. was almost 430..

Ill consider the 5870, would like to get teh 5850s so I can have 3x5850's in this machien and have my other 5830 ready for my next rig as soon as spotswood makes another round.

Dedicated pool server for simplecoin is now live. pool.simplecoin.us

That's 4 servers, 8core Xeons for the sql and pushpool/bitcoin servers.

Yeah it's best you people don't join and stay in your mandatory fee pools. I don't want you taking from my cut of the pie :p
BTC Guild just got ddos'd a couple hours ago. E had just banned about 150 thousand IPs from a botnet and they got slammed with twice as many in retaliation. He's banning all those IPs now and took the opportuninty to update the load balancing for US West. Pool should be back in 30 min or so.
 
Yup, the website/stats page is down still but that's an entirely separate system from the payout/pool servers so it's back for the most part.

Should be resolved shortly. Until then, the pools are definitely working, we've already found a block since they came back up.
